General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Gibara announcing she'll graduate is weird to me. Possibly a joke. But if it does happen, I wonder if she got a better deal than Ichikara. And if it does, is it possible that its related to Monoe?

I'd bet that Reine has/has access to a place in Tokyo already that could accommodate ID/EN/Pochi-sensei.
She had lived in Tokyo for a few years and she got some friends there, won't be surprised if she could find a good place to accommodate at least the IDs. Not to mention that mom's money would help them find a good place to stay.
I'm curious, with the Gibara thing, it got me thinking. How do people here feel about deleting archives of streams that everyone, especially these companies, seem to do when a talent retires/graduates?
I am against it except when it's related to contract violation and you need to basically nuke their existence. It's counter-productive and as you have mentioned above, there's still ads money coming from people reminiscing the old days when their oshi were there.

Im noticing a pattern that after Jitomi got shoah'd people has taken the task of archiving all member only streams they could find of their favorite, i have see some torrents about some of them up like Flare and Tomoshika, spergs learn quicky

From what I saw, Gibara doesn't want to work with streaming anymore so I doubt if it's the case, it'll be related to vtuber.

I can see the implication from being distinguished between idol group and content creators. So if any of you are hoping to see tako, gremlin, shork, chicken or death(or any future EN girls) in 3D, chances are that it will never happen or it's at the bottom tier of priority as 3D model development will be entirely focused on JP branch(and the boys, unsure about ID).
Honestly I feel the same way. Not to doom or be negative, but I highly doubt the ID nor EN girls will ever have 3D models. It's not cost-effective for them to fly them to Japan (besides Calli, or Kiara if she happens to be there) and pay for room and board , food, etc., every time they wanna do a 3D stream. I don't think it's in the cards at this point, but who know what the future holds?

Haachama announce leaving on a journey of self discovery for a while. Not sure if this just refer to the new character putting on shelf or she actually having a leave. Guess we will see in a day or two. I'm leaning more on the hiatus side though. This shit must blow to have a worst ending for the arc you built up for months.

Most of the comments are understanding and supportive, then you have this 'supportive' idiot who high-key suggesting that she actually want to leave Hololive, and all the blood, sweat, and tears she spend on it. Not sure if thinly-veiled anti or an actual retard.

This is just a wacky situation. I didn't read all the new pages in the thread today, just skimmed, but I'm pretty sure this has nothing to do with Cover, seeing as they let Risu go with her masturbation innuendo videos for two solid months back in Nov/Dec. I think this is Youtube ToS shit, and people reporting her videos for self-harm and/or glorifying mental illness. Her self-imposed break is sad, but I get it; she must be pretty bummed about all her hard work going to shit, but it's even more ridiculous that people are actually up in arms and blaming Cover despite zero evidence to back it up - I've seen some quality schizoid posts on 4chan about it, wow.

Shit, I even saw people saying Haato is gonna graduate now, and they weren't trolling. These fuckers are nuts.

You might have to wait a while before it can put a dent in anything. And God's honest truth, I hope it never gets that popular. The Millennials damn near mainstreamed various subcultures and counter-cultures with the whole "Geek Chic" and Big Bang Theory garbage 15 or 20 years ago, and in the process, laid the groundwork for SJW infiltration, going woke, and the absolute trashing of brands, hobbies, and communities. If you want Vtubers to still be cool in 5 years, you'd pray like hell it continues to remain a niche thing in the West.
We already see it with the Reddit Army of EOPs, and the general fanbases of the EN girls. It's....fine....right now, but if it gets even more mainstream? Yeah, I dunno. I also think, eventually, big-money players and megacorpos are gonna want in on the Vtuber thing too. Imagine Google or Amazon-sponsored Vtuber agencies/teams? Jesus Christ.

There seems to be some confusion as to what VShojo is. People seem to be confusing it as if its Hololive of the west. Or at least its attempting to. VShojo is simply a MCN that decided to stamp a brand on it. From what i've gleamed they do help their members get in contact with people for sponsors, technical and legal issues. Though it seems to be slightly different with Hime, but i don't really think she cares that much about actually being a VTuber and is doing it for fun rather than money. Other than that the members are basically doing everything else themselves. They use commissions for all of their models, have editors that they've hired. The only reason VShojo was created was because of Melody's connections with the people who actually run VShojo, if it wasn't for her im not sure it would have been made.

There has been some talk in this thread about what would happen if Nyanners left VShojo, particularly that it would fold.

First, i don't think Nyanners will leave anytime soon. I highly doubt she would apply for Hololive again (did she apply the first time?) as what she has now she is really happy with, and im not sure if Hololive would even be better at this point. With how Hololive works content wise and monetary wise, she would be losing a lot of freedom and potentially make less money. She has built up a fairly tight community, group of friends and catalog of content. If she joins Hololive would she have to give that all up? Probably.

Second, VShojo isn't about her. If Melody and Ironmouse also left and VShojo hadn't gotten any popular "VTubers", THEN there would be little reason to exist and it would fold.

Nyanners and Ironmouse are the two most popular in VShojo, and i'd argue also the most popular western VTubers outside of Hololive EN (do they really count as western?). Hime only has the numbers she does because of VShojo. Froot (Apricot) i don't really watch because she is outside of my timezone. Zentraya is off putting with the TTS and in the collabs they are in they're unnoticeable until they get in the way, i don't watch them, objectively the worst. Melody only does twitch because she enjoys it, she makes most of her money though patreon subs and on CB.

Melody intends on getting a 2D model so that she can do twitch more, but she's stated that she won't stop CB because she really likes it, even if it costs her collabs/sponsors.

Veibae and Snuffy might join. Vei has said she doesn't like the idea of being part of a company and im not sure snuffy really cares.

Also, im not sure Melody counts a VTuber, or if any that stream exclusively on twitch for that matter. Are they V-Streamers?

It's a shame Haachama-chama Haato privated the VOD
She got outplayed at her own psychological-horror game.

Is Hololive's roster big enough to host HoloMania?
I would so love a HoloRumble. Was some of Jerma's best content ever.
I hate to tell you this, but we're in an echo chamber.

Most people are uninformed, dumb, and complete normalfags. They'll sit and watch reruns on television, dumb shit on Netflix or Disney+, and just veg out. None of what you said here really gives Hololive a snowball's chance in Hell at being anything more than a fun niche for (mostly) people under 30 who aren't regularly employed (even if it is from home) or already a member of some sort of niche interest demographic. The average person is boring, uninformed, and will still watch whatever Marvel movie is being rerun or whatever dumb TV drama is playing. You'd be surprised how many people turn off their brains and try to ignore woke stuff. Granted, that number is rapidly dwindling but the fact is, Hololive and Vtubers are really not much of a threat to any industry... YET.

You might have to wait a while before it can put a dent in anything. And God's honest truth, I hope it never gets that popular. I am gatekeeping? Yeah, dude, sure, I am. And quit with the logical fallacies. I've lived in Japan, have a rudimentary understanding of Japanese business practices, have dealt with Japanese businesses and know people personally who are... guess what?... involved in Japanese businesses on a regular basis.

Japanese business almost always chooses to work with foreign markets through various sorts of proxies--either proxies they own as subsidiaries (like the car companies) or through licensing corporations and/or other forms of distribution middle-men. The latter is precisely why the Western markets for Japanese otaku-centric goods have been poisoned by political activists mistranslating things and claiming it is "localization." The political infection of everything is why there's this push to troon Vtubing out. I wouldn't put it past Google, for example, to eventually ban Japanese Vtubers for whatever made-up reason to force Western audiences to watch the politically correct troon Vtubers. If you can't control the supply at the source, then control all the means of getting that supply to the Western market. Simple yet effective strategy and so far it has been working. Notice how complacent anime and manga consumers have become? Notice how nobody fansubs anymore?

As for high reward, only for the corporations, not for the actual fans. Mainstream success demands the sell-out. This has been discussed elsewhere by, I believe, Gravemind and Mister O. So, if you want a degraded version that is watered-down, bargain-basement, accessible-to-the-masses Hololive, yeah, mainstreaming and zero gatekeeping is for you. I think I speak for a lot of people here, though, when I say that most people would rather this stay niche.
The sad state of the mainstream has classically been down to distribution in the decentralized population of North America. In order to bother sending something to every corner of the continent, you needed something that would appeal to absolutely everyone over that space: dumb, watered-down bullshit. Coincidentally, dumb, watered down bullshit can also appeal to other cultures, so the American mainstream was able to manage a lot of influence. In places with a more centralized population, you could put out niche weirdness and just wait for people to line up at one store or convention booth to get it.

The problem for the mainstream is that media is now post-scarcity. Everything can be pirated and as mentioned over the past couple pages, China can distribute a ship-based titty games all over the planet. They actually have to deal with competition rather than the usual big media cartels and create artificial scarcity rather than giving you something you'd willingly spend money on. People like that Japanese media so they need to devalue it with reactionary morality bullshit from their journalism arms and shitty sub-par localizations from their licensing partners. Men pirate more than women, so they're trying to rotate focus to women and partner with regions like East Asia where more women decide what movie you're going to watch on date night. All the woke political bullshit is a two-pronged attack to both create artificial value for diverse and woke media as well as devalue sinister foreign media that features boobs. Trannies are just the flavor of the month, next it'll be dogfuckers, followed by child rapists and then I don't even know where they can go.
As a man whose country's political system is less about party ideologies and more about subtle vs obvious corruption while paying enough Catholic lip service to still have no divorce law, can someone explain why all the business and media talk here have a hard anti-left concern? When I think of left wing media I think of The Good Fight (hated that as it oriented itself around Trump unendingly) or Colbert ripping at the fountain of material that was Trump every night to the point of being stale. When I think of right wing media I remember how much I hated the pander fest that was Fireproof or the lack of late night comedians for that angle.

Also are trans deemed a nuisance due to being prominent despite being a minority of a minority of a minority?
Jesus christ Gura asked Calliope about her deodorant, she wears Old Spice.
The chat blew up with "dad" over and over.
Only further confirms how butch DDK appears in her music and physical appearances if she's wearing 'the man your man can smell like'. Still don't think she's bi though, otherwise her music would have reflected that.

what difference does a contract violation make? demonetize the content but leave it up, costs nothing and still generates some good will. it would be like a record company trying to remove all of some artists works after a contract dispute, cutting their nose of to spite their face, and those happen often enough - and most would agree that would be nuts, especially when people learn what cunts companies can be.

for me I look at it what you'd gain and what you'd lose. scorched earth deletes months if not years of someone's output that lot of people enjoyed, but in effect you gain ... nothing. even if the talent keeps up vtubing and people figure out her previous persona, then what? at some point even the chat spam will get boring because everyone knows or can put in a simple query into the search engine of choice. it doesn't really detract, and most likely will add to the next one, and even right now there's nothing stopping talent to drop hints - even involuntary - for people to make the connection. we all know how autistic some of those people are.

it doesn't help that mostly feels like company butthurt, delete the video but keep the channel up? I get it's done to reserve the "brand" etc, still stupid. delete everything but the collabs? if the goal is to complete wipe every trace of someone, they're doing a real shit job at it. so why even bother?
sooner or later you'd have to define what that output actually is, a paid role or someone's creative work? that alone will cause some drama in the future when more companies get involved and talent moves between companies able to throw money at lawsuits to dispute who "owns" and who "is" the talent and the persona.

here for your answer

Edit:
Shit, I even saw people saying Haato is gonna graduate now, and they weren't trolling. These fuckers are nuts.
this is also play with the fact, the demographic of this vchuuba prolly 14edgyteenager, or anti social teenage. like i said few pages ago , people assume Ina has fuckin mental breakdown just because her scribble thumbnail getting worse and worse (esp minecraft). just later then ina said, she wish she can do photoshop like her genmate, she want to get better cause stereotypically people though able to draw = able to design.

these people feel like they know their idol life more than the person itself, and sometimes believing their own rrat they making of.

without too much sperging (there's plenty of that in the appropriate threads), o'sullivan's first law exists.
and in case anyone missed it (how idk) all the big ones are up their ass with identity politics to the point it makes no business sense anymore. just look at the whole danmore thing with google or jack dorsey's twitter antics he doesn't even hide anymore. and this is in combination with the internet getting highly centralized over the last years, something most people don't even know.

troons are deemed a nuisance because for most of them it's basically attention whoring and stirring up drama constantly to feed that, but unlike the religious nutjobs of the 80's they have full corporate and media backing, so good luck to even be able to point that out or even laugh about it. wouldn't want to marginalize a poor oppressed minority, would you?
