Lord I've tried I've tried so hard to get into the original System Shock but I just can't. It's rightfully considered a landmark piece of software. But it's just a chore to play. The UI is so cluttered, the visuals are just plain ugly to look at, the music is grating, Cyberspace sequences straight up suck. Killing enemies isn't very fun at all.

I appreciate what Looking Glass managed to achieve, but I think they went on to do so much more with the Thief games and System Shock 2. I get why people still say it's worth playing the original System Shock and experiencing everything it has to offer. But it just doesn't click for me.

That's similar to how I feel with Deus Ex Human Revolution, I know its a great game but it always runs like shit for me, regardless how how many patches I throw at it.

Not so much a character but archtype. From Mega Man Battle Network, there is Elec Style.

So for some context, Styles in Battle Network are like job classes, but with the twist of also having an elemental style. You gain them from both a combination of what kind of actions you perform most in a ratio of a hundred or so battles the game reads in its System calculation mechanics and what kinds of elemental chips you like to use as well. Elemental styles in this case determine what kind of charge shot you get with a style.

Elec in this case is the absolute worst because of its shitty charge shot that practically is worthless beyond compare. While Heat gets you a flamethrower and Wood gets you a razor leaf blower, Elec gives you a shitty glorified ElecRing thrower that is pathetically weak no matter how you customize your buster gun, how its effects are totally worthless in many regards, and whose synergy is pathetic. ElecRing has a pathetic damage range of 40, which by in comparison to a normal charged Mega Buster, 80. But it gets better! ElecRing comes with an added effect of paralysis, that barely lasts long enough for you to follow up with other Battle Chips or to stunlock foes into place. Couple that Elec Style has a weakness to Wood elements, which are ironically much more preferred in BN as a whole, you are practically better off ditching a style that has this element by nature and grind another 100 battles for a better style.

Oh right, utility synergy. Elec Style is absolute garbage at that as well. Guts, which ups your buster to break guards and has a machine gun upgrade, demands you to play lightning quick and have a reserve of good Elec chips, which don't exist in 3 until about halfway through the game. Custom, which focuses on attaining and using Battle Chips en masse, barely needs the buster on the account of its mechanic of getting letterless chips by pure chip attack flawless victories, and even its unique attack chip requires you to have an obstacle to trigger its effect. The only styles I can think of that are made more useful by Elec is Shield, which can be used to control combat by stunning aggressors, and Ground, which by 3 has the metal ground effect that can double Elec attacks. For a minor note, I remembered reading up on a guide that had a special Elec folder..... that was made strictly for PVP battles.

So let me know, I might be wrong in how this style sucks, I was a stupid kid who constantly alphabet soup'd BN back then. But honestly, fuck Elec. Elec's bullshit was remedied by 4, in where your charge shot turned into a lightning beam that was more effective in battle.

Nah, elecstyle is hot garbage unless you make a lightningrod folder with poltergeist in it. The best element I can think of is wood because the multihit is broken beyond all belief, and then either shield style or custom style depending on if you want to be able to use reflect on-command or have 10 selectable battle chips at the start of each fight. I think my endgame build was a gaiasword/ gaiablade folder with woodcust in my last BN3 run.

I've been playing Uplink, in comparison to other hacking games like Hacknet, it's a lot, lot more realistic and full of noob traps. If you leave logs in a machine, the target can use them to trace you back even if haven't been spotted while hacking. A big part of the gameplay is actually connecting to a shitton of different systems to use as proxies (in fact, you're encouraged to never connect directly to any systems, specially if you're going to use them as proxies to hack other systems later)
There's a lot of software and hardware upgrades you can install to make things faster. It even has a IRC addon you can use to chat in real channels.
The only gripes i have with it is that the earlygame is kinda boring and repetitive. And the game itself is seriously time intensive.
I really recommend it if you like permadeath games.

No this isn’t a Chinese bootleg

Fry's Electronics has gone out of business.

We're now fully at the mercy of best buy and gamestop for B&M stores for games.

I need help finding a few flash games I've been scouring for for years. One is a game about a weird baby-making factory which involves fetuses. I remember very vivid colors for the women and the rooms, with a fully black background. The other is a game about a toy car driving over batteries while some extremely loud and obnoxious techno music plays in the background. I don't remember much else but I really want to see what the hell they were really about.

Beat SMB3 last year at some point as well as Startropics. It’s weird how much of a difference playing on actual hardware and a crappy crt makes when you haven’t for a decade or so.

I've always wanted to get into it but that slow opening has lost my interest every time, but permadeath is kind of my thing so maybe I'll give it another shot. Are there any good guides floating around that point out the noob traps without giving too much away? Most of what I remember from the last time I tried to get into it involves losing and having no idea what the mistake I made was or how to correct it.

The upcoming harvest moon game has a cute husbando in it.

I love it when weeb farming games contain anime boys that look like they’ve actually come into contact with testosterone.

I'm waiting for the day a Harvest Moon game comes out with an asshole love interest who's actually an asshole. I'm a little tired of the whole "Yeah, he/she comes off as a total jackass, but trust me, he's/she's really nice!" And then they are. I'd love to see the reactions to someone's best girl/best guy literally abusing them.

  1. NEVER use direct Gateway connections, specially for systems you're going to connect thru to hack other systems later. If you connect to, say, InterNIC without other any remote connections, your IP will be logged in that machine, and if you include InterNIC in your bounce route, a target system's trace can detect your IP from InterNIC's logs if you used it to hack. There's no penalty for connecting to too many systems all the time anyway.
  2. Buy Log_Deleter_v3/v4 as soon as you can to effectively delete logs. You can easily hack the same system again to delete the logs if you had no time to delete them during the first connection. You should do this before finishing missions
  3. Save up for a good gateway. One that lets you use two CPUs will let you use most hacking tools instantly or noticeably fast
  4. According to the game's manual, connecting through Banks is also a good idea since Banks and Government systems are less willing to give away info.

No one ever requests that kind of representation. The waifu you finally snared isn't tsundere, she's just abusive and now you're married and can't talk to female NPCs. The more time you spend in the mine the less time you have to spend at home.

It would actually be fun if one character turned out to be a huge no-no.
