I hate to say it, and I'd really hate for it to actually happen, but knowing how the Japs are when it comes to these things, I wouldn't be surprised if one of his lunatic fans burned down the spa as soon as the bastard bought it.
You just had me laughing because I can picture it. I mean 137 was nonsensical, 138 sounds retarded. I don't know how the Japanese fans are going to take it. I know most Western normies love the anime (I am really waiting for the reaction when Eren's head gets blown the fuck off), though I don't really know if the Japanese fucking hate him for ruining it or consider him the same genius that the Western normies do.

I mean given how Attack on Titan is way more popular in Japan (that AOT is very mainstream moreso in the west) and how both WIT and MAPPA lets him be heavily involved in the production to the point of helping coach actors, I reckon that it’s way more loved in Japan because if it was a trash fire than Isayama would have a huge pole to keep him away from the anime studio or not even get as involved as he is.

two chapters in the pleb manga, the real ending is in the anime
I mean, I think you're hoping against hope. Original anime deviations from basically a completed manga are rare and Isayama does not give a singular fuck to do two different versions. I mean, the dude was so bad he rushed a chapter out just short of a deadline and his drawing errors were thought to be plot hints. This is not a guy that cares.

And the studio is pouring all of its money into Jujetsu Kaisen. It does not give a shit about AoT, a series that is functionally ending. Its not going to put anymore effort than it needs to. It would rather get AoT over with and focus on Jujetsu Kaisen, which is new and popular, which means more money. Especially if AoT ends like shit.

I can't stress how rare deviations are when a manga is basically done. And be careful what you wish for, deviations are usually worse than the manga themselves. Akame Ga Kill! is one big example of this. It faithfully follows the manga until it ran out of material. Then, I fucking shit you not, each episode it killed off a character. Which basically butchered the manga, because the manga is not like that, at all.

Its not like the West where we look at the source material and go, "Ok, this was shitty. Lets make it better." or "This isn't going to translate to TV/Movies, here's where we can improve." Japan very strictly follows manga unless it runs out of material. And usually it ends up like shit. They may also be under contract to just do what the manga does. I'm expecting Eren just beating the shit out of Armin, "OH! ITS A BASEBALL" and a psychotic Mikasa gone insane kissing the severed head of her brother while God smiles in approval.

You're just going to be disappointed if you hope for anything different. Especially if its as popular as @Truthboi says in Japan.

Good to know that fucking retards with bad taste is a universal human trait.

I mean Japan has literally been memed on for years for having shit taste, it’s not surprising to me.

If we’re talking about the anime ending, it must be brought up that at this point the allotted 16 episodes aren’t getting anywhere near the ending and a part 2 has not yet been announced. Imagine the shitstorm that would arise if the anime was just... forever incomplete?

Granted, I don’t think this will happen. Chances are they’ll cut and rush and have a condensed movie for the finale. But I also don’t think it’s completely impossible. After all if you had another cour planned, why explicitly bill S4 as the “final season”, and why only announce 16 episodes?

I’ve had the impression the dad is Levi. Considering the ties between Ackerman and the royalty or the parallels of their upbringing.
I think if there were actual PATHS ties between Ackermans and royalty, we would have seen it manifest by now. For starters, there is simply no way that Levi would have been able to fuck up Zeke on multiple occasions, the Ackerman genes wouldn't have allowed it. Also Mikasa would have stopped Eren from killing Dina Fritz. And both Levi and Mikasa would have prioritized defending Historia over their own friends.

Because that's what they did before?

I'm a Jean stan. He will be the new Beast Titan.

The only source for the 16 episodes thing was the upcoming DVDs (not an official announcement) so either it will be a split cour like Season 3 which still counts as one season as there was a Season 3 part 1 and a Season 3 part 2, especially with the trailer showing content that happens much later in the manga beyond where episode 16 would likely end off. The split cour is also more likely as MAPPA as a studio for better or worse is very loyal to adapting the source material as this is also applying to JJK. Furthermore there will be more BDs to sell if they do a split cour.

Honestly my statement isn't gospel as we will need to wait for episode 16 to know what is going to happen if they are going to adapt the rest of the season.

Like @Secret Asshole said, we should nab the first third of AoT and run with that. A buncha people came up with some cool shit and let's use that.
I've been wanting to fan fic for awhile, because its just too good to drop to the void.

I don't see why they'd not announce another cour yet. Especially with something this popular. They did that perfectly fine with JJK. I mean, I don't see it being just 16 episodes and being 'done'. I could see them going 'Ok, lets get through all the bullshit and announce the final part of AoT as a movie'.

It'd be a decent way to earn more money. Western audiences would be pissed but who gives a fuck.

To be fair they never announced it being 16 episodes, it's as far as I know people making speculation based off of the BDs coming so either it's a surprise movie or the 16 episode thing was huge gaslighting by western anime fans on themselves.

I was looking this up, and either there's going to be a second cour or a movie(s):

So this is from MAPPA and the sound director, where you can see 'Final Season: Part 1' listed by the keyboard. He tweeted the image out and then deleted it. Unless its a photoshop or a troll.

Netflix Japan also said it was the final season part 1. And I know its easy to fake tweets, but I really do not give enough of a shit to go looking:

I think its honestly going to be a surprise movie or movies. The series is ending, so a good way to bolster that revenue is do movies. I'm sure they'd get millions since as you said the Japs have shit for taste. But I will love the Western salt from that, because waiting for movies to get released in the states takes forever. 'Surprise Moviefilm(s)' makes sense to me. More cash, better animation budget, more revenue for everyone. It also makes more sense because why not announce a second cour when the season was announced? Plenty of popular anime, including AoT, have done this. So why not just say its another cour? Because they want the surprise of a movie drop. That's it really. So that's my guess. If its just another cour, I think they're stupid for hiding it because it'd have to be obvious to anyone you'd need more than 16 episodes to cover the last bit of AoT. I just don't see the point, honestly. Its not really building hype and people would be expecting it. But they wouldn't be expecting a movie.

Anyway, barring a second cour or movie, the AoT anime ends at chapter 116.

Honestly I think a second cour makes more sense since while movies generate more money, they are generally more expensive than a TV show and the whole “Final Season Part 1” to be followed by a movie is just weird. It could happen for all I know but I don’t see a film happening. Especially with what I said earlier with how the trailer showed content from later in the manga that would not be shown past the 16 episode mark most likely and it would be weird to put movie content in a trailer for a TV show.

Besides if I remember correctly there were leaks before the season that were reliable that said it would be about 28-30 episodes long for the whole season.

Of course it could be possible, I personally don’t see it being likely.

Okay, that’s news to me. But if it’s literally called “final season part 1”, then it’s pretty much just confirming a second cour and not a movie.
