Cant expand, cant contract, eventually they simply collapsed (which roman collapse this was IDK)

RT has the same problem. They have too many shows, not enough money, and not enough fanbase to support all those shows. You cant make more shows to try and bring in a newer/larger audience, because thats how you got to where they are now, and cant cut back because that would begin to alienate what audience they have left.

This is actually a pretty fantastic summation of the situation RT is in now. They're too far out on a limb to go back, like you said, but pushing forward is only going to stretch themselves even thinner and exacerbate this issue. I also think the acquisition contributed to this as well; as I mentioned in the post you quoted, the acquisition and merger were pretty clunky in themselves and there was no real transition period for fans and employees alike to get used to RT being connected to stuff like Funhaus. It just sort of happened, and they did a few "crossover" videos together, but there was just so much awkwardness and the groups didn't seem to mesh at all. All of those things combined make RT as it stands now feel very disjointed, and that does not make for a good baseline to sell your content out of.

I think the only way out that doesn't end in RT collapsing completely would be if they get REALLY lucky with one of their new shows and bang out another RWBY. Alternately, if they wanted to take a riskier approach, it might help to make all RT First videos free and available for all viewers for a limited time (maybe a couple weeks) - they'd have to advertise it REALLY well, but if they did this right, they might be able to get enough fans interested in their paywalled content to pay for the subscription service after the trial period ends. It would be a gambit for sure, but at this point in time they really need to call an audible.

And Lindsay has never been confirmed to have this in the first place. She's just yet another individual that got married, had kids, and stopped trying.

Like I said before, hypothyroidism is just the first thing I thought of because it's very common and is one thing that can cause weight gain without the person having to do anything wrong. My point was strictly that there are plenty of factors that could cause a person to gain weight outside of poor eating and exercise habits, and that weight loss is hard because figuring out the most efficient way to do it is often imprecise. There's a reason the weight loss industry is such a massively profitable one - losing weight is hard, and it requires discipline and dedicated time, which a lot of people don't or can't commit to. It doesn't really matter to me one way or the other if she has it.

I just realized that Season 10 was Project Freelancer and Chorus was 11. I just remember that RvB was riding high, end credits roll, Red trailer drops, and the torch starts to be passed.

And then it all went downhill. Yep, that's about right.

Seasons 1-10 were all Burnie (though I believe Miles did a bit of writing for Seasons 9 and 10), and the Chorus trilogy was all Miles (with some minor input from Burnie in Season 11; not coincidentally, that season is the best of the three). At least with that case, even though I really dislike Miles' writing of most of the characters - I'll be fair and say I do like the focus on Tucker, though it gets to be a bit much at times - he at least had some guidance from the original writer and his blessing, essentially. Miles may have gotten way too self-inserty as the show went on, but he still got much closer to the original tone of RVB than most of the other writers that came after him.

On that subject, for anyone who's watched the more recent seasons of RVB - what did you think of Season 15? Of all the post-Burnie seasons, that's the only one I found myself genuinely enjoying the majority of the time, and it's the only one where Joe Nicolosi was the sole writer. The subsequent season was done with a co-writer (Jason Weight), and I thought it was fucking terrible, so part of me wonders if they just got really lucky with S15, or if the co-writer specifically added all the stupid time travel shit that ended up taking over most of S16.

At about 2 minutes in Michael starts talking about how they are totally not hypocrites for recording in the studio. He also says that they started talking about returning to the studio about a month ago.
I still can't figure out why Michael thinks that planning to return to the studio prior to the governor's declaration that people in Texas should be allowed to make their own choices makes them any less of hypocrites.

So they were planning to go back in the studio like normal, then a bunch of them have unhinged temper tantrums on social media about Texas allowing people to return to normal. So they still come across as viewing themselves as more equal as it was going to be fine for them to return just not everybody else. Again, it is the same hypocrisy.

-Michael, Lindsay, Alfredo have been all vaccinated

-Lindsay makes a point of using hand sanitizer after touching something
For people that autisticly screech about loving and following the science they really do love to hate and not follow you know... the science.

It has been known since around June of last year that you don't contract COVID by touching things like a door handle or a UPS package. Add into the fact that you got the fucking vaccine you are now at best just virtue signaling and at worst feeding your own neuroses.

You cant make more shows to try and bring in a newer/larger audience, because thats how you got to where they are now, and cant cut back because that would begin to alienate what audience they have left. So they'll continue this way until warner begins cutting off the necrotic tissue and starting the death throes of RT.
Its a classic case of uncontrolled growth.

The death of businesses comes in two forms.

1. Businesses that die off from a lack of growth/interest. This is how most if not all small businesses die off.

2. Businesses that die off from growing too quickly. Many mid-sized businesses die off this way because they don't have the internal infrastructure and manpower to handle larger ventures and increased accounts with the same quality they could when they were a small business. The top managers are inexperienced at running such a large organization and stubbornly insist on doing it the way they did it when they were small while expanding the company. Leading to them overworking and underpaying employees while continually expanding and overpromising results for their clients.

RT is a classic case of number 2. Uncontrolled expansion of extremely taxing projects that few clients (audience) asked for or want. Mishandling employees by overworking and underpaying them because they keep running it like when they were smaller. Ignoring that employees had a greater incentive to work in these conditions with promises of promotions/raises and even being able to lead their own projects, incentives that no longer exist as RT has now begun to stagnate.

Stagnation is death for these types of businesses because people expect to be promoted or receive extra compensation for years of service. If the company is not growing those promotions and raises can't happen. People then leave for jobs that will provide those opportunities, leading to the remaining people to be saddled with more work, leading to more people leaving. Executives and top managers see where the wind is blowing and haul ass. Eventually you suffered such massive brain drain that only idiots and the masochistic are left at your company. New employees don't like either group and will quickly look for better opportunities.

Its a death spiral that is so difficult to manage and avoid. Its why the worlds mega corporations last so long, they managed to avoid or, more likely, overcome this death spiral. Most new competition dies off on their own this way and there is very little competition at the top.

The last time RT REALLY tried to push a new IP of theirs was Gen Lock. It didn’t go over well.

The last time RT REALLY tried to push a new IP of theirs was Gen Lock. It didn’t go over well.

Easy to see why. Has anyone ever actually watched Gen Lock?

RWBY and RVB are the only animated series from RT I ever bothered with. Camp Camp is probably their most "successful" show outside of those two, and I couldn't sit through more than a few minutes of it. That's why I fully agree that RWBY was an extremely lucky fluke, and one they're not likely to replicate again. (Then again, I guess you could say that for most of their more recent successes.)

Well that took forever. As a general note I will say that it seemed (in the beginning at least) a little bit like they were nervous or something, like they did not want to be there and their enthusiasm seemed forced at times.

So its pretty clear at this point that no one actually wanted to be there and this was forced through because of the re-opening, right?

Keeping your hands clean is about reducing the risks from touching your face, other people, and objects. How has this been going on for over a year yet people are still this ignorant. Do you not wash your hands after taking a shit because having shit on your hands won't get you or others sick by itself? No, you wash your hands because you don't want to touch your face, objects or other people with shit hands.
Pretty telling when people use RT staff's COVID concerns to criticize the countless other things over the years that they can be criticized for.

Were they reading much from chat?
No, only once I think but I did sort of drift off a bit at times, it was pretty boring

I got the impression that he was saying what he was told to say at times

Has anyone ever actually watched Gen Lock?
I watched a few minutes of the first episode and the animation looks weird and choppy so I didn't watch the rest of it. Also reminder that the rest of the series is only available to first members

Again, the idea of that is just insane. Why would you paywall a brand new show that fans may not be willing to pay for because - and stick with me here! - it's BRAND NEW?

I really want to know whose idea it was to cordon off the majority of their content behind a paywall; someone got it twisted down the line and mistook RT for an actual production company, and clearly, that was a fatal mistake.

Well, the big thing was them getting all the big name VAs for it. Gotta make a return on the investment somehow.

I don't know. I wish I could tell, but they just spent a week screeching into twitter about how irresponsible it is to reopen. Yet here they are attempting to deflect all criticism, and they even say this has been in the works for a month. So which version do I believe?

I wish you'd stop posting every five minutes. This isn't tumblr we don't want to see your long rambling rants that have no content.

Barbara is obviously sucking the life essence out of Trevor. Might be the lighting but he looks pale as fuck.
Lindsay making an admirable attempt to cover the neck flab with a shemagh and doing the 'stronk wimmen' thing by eschewing make-up. Which would be admirable if she wasn't so spotty. Going without make-up is fine as long as you don't look like you exfoliate with bacon grease.
To be fair, if your girlfriend was one failed Twitter hugbox from just straight up selling pictures of her asshole, that'd probably drain you pretty heavily.

Jesus christ the podcast sounded unbearable inbetween boring nonsense and the clear virtue signaling.

Yeah, I'm sure the endless shirts referencing a random video no one has watched are going to be remembered for generations to come. Come back when people are sending in their detention slips for wearing "cockbite" shirts to class (wish I still had the image RT posted on their site back in 2006, it was fucking hilarious).

-Trevor is terminally unfunny
Trevor is a fucking idiot asshole and I hated him from the moment he showed up in their videos. I think his first appearance was back when they were still playing The Ship, and he struck me as someone who tries really hard to be whacky-funny but is just obnoxious. AH definitely would fuck around but he didn't even try to play the game. One person (Lindsay) doing that was enough. I thought maybe he just left a bad first impression, but I quickly learned he really did make every video worse. I think I've found him funny twice ever, and I used to watch a lot of AH content.

Michael rocking the Ms. Trunchbull look:

I live in a deep blue state that had some of the strictest lockdowns in the country yet I have gone to my barber once a month since last July. Men that have grown mullets, ponytails, or just let their hair grow long and unkempt including Michael have no excuse. If he didn't want to go to a barber because of safety reasons Michael could have just bought a pair of clippers and had Lindsay buzz his hair every once in a while. His look clearly shows he gave up and just doesn't care anymore.
