Cant expand, cant contract, eventually they simply collapsed (which roman collapse this was IDK)
RT has the same problem. They have too many shows, not enough money, and not enough fanbase to support all those shows. You cant make more shows to try and bring in a newer/larger audience, because thats how you got to where they are now, and cant cut back because that would begin to alienate what audience they have left.
This is actually a pretty fantastic summation of the situation RT is in now. They're too far out on a limb to go back, like you said, but pushing forward is only going to stretch themselves even thinner and exacerbate this issue. I also think the acquisition contributed to this as well; as I mentioned in the post you quoted, the acquisition and merger were pretty clunky in themselves and there was no real transition period for fans and employees alike to get used to RT being connected to stuff like Funhaus. It just sort of happened, and they did a few "crossover" videos together, but there was just so much awkwardness and the groups didn't seem to mesh at all. All of those things combined make RT as it stands now feel very disjointed, and that does not make for a good baseline to sell your content out of.
I think the only way out that doesn't end in RT collapsing completely would be if they get REALLY lucky with one of their new shows and bang out another RWBY. Alternately, if they wanted to take a riskier approach, it might help to make all RT First videos free and available for all viewers for a limited time (maybe a couple weeks) - they'd have to advertise it REALLY well, but if they did this right, they might be able to get enough fans interested in their paywalled content to pay for the subscription service after the trial period ends. It would be a gambit for sure, but at this point in time they really need to call an audible.
And Lindsay has never been confirmed to have this in the first place. She's just yet another individual that got married, had kids, and stopped trying.
Like I said before, hypothyroidism is just the first thing I thought of because it's very common and is one thing that can cause weight gain without the person having to do anything wrong. My point was strictly that there are plenty of factors that could cause a person to gain weight outside of poor eating and exercise habits, and that weight loss is hard because figuring out the most efficient way to do it is often imprecise. There's a reason the weight loss industry is such a massively profitable one - losing weight is hard, and it requires discipline and dedicated time, which a lot of people don't or can't commit to. It doesn't really matter to me one way or the other if she has it.
I just realized that Season 10 was Project Freelancer and Chorus was 11. I just remember that RvB was riding high, end credits roll, Red trailer drops, and the torch starts to be passed.
And then it all went downhill. Yep, that's about right.
Seasons 1-10 were all Burnie (though I believe Miles did a bit of writing for Seasons 9 and 10), and the Chorus trilogy was all Miles (with some minor input from Burnie in Season 11; not coincidentally, that season is the best of the three). At least with that case, even though I really dislike Miles' writing of most of the characters - I'll be fair and say I do like the focus on Tucker, though it gets to be a bit much at times - he at least had some guidance from the original writer and his blessing, essentially. Miles may have gotten way too self-inserty as the show went on, but he still got much closer to the original tone of RVB than most of the other writers that came after him.
On that subject, for anyone who's watched the more recent seasons of RVB - what did you think of Season 15? Of all the post-Burnie seasons, that's the only one I found myself genuinely enjoying the majority of the time, and it's the only one where Joe Nicolosi was the sole writer. The subsequent season was done with a co-writer (Jason Weight), and I thought it was fucking terrible, so part of me wonders if they just got really lucky with S15, or if the co-writer specifically added all the stupid time travel shit that ended up taking over most of S16.
