Are you sure about that Bobby? Because I've been called a Nazi for:

• Observing that free speech doesn't begin and end with the speech you find agreeable.
• Acknowledging that human sex is binary and anything outside of that is a genetic aberration.
• Suggesting that removing people's ability to work/make money/survive is more likely to drive them toward extremism than from it.
• Believing the best way to dismantle bad ideas is to debate them openly, not figuratively martyr the speakers by unpersoning them.
• Questioning whether or not it's a good idea to pump kids full of meds to fuck with their hormones, or give them irreparable surgeries when we have no idea what the long-term effects will be (though one could easily hazard a guess).

I'm not really up on my theology so maybe others can correct me, but I'd imagine the actual, non-crazy logic behind...'the American evangelical theology of sexuality,' was recognising the disastrous consequences that would come from allowing a society to indulge their every deviant sexual desire at any given time. Even outside of religion, you only have to look at the massive rise in single mother households and all the problems that attend that snake pit, rampant abortions, untreatable STDs, porn addiction facilitated by unrestricted access and the upcoming thot apocalypse when all these women with Onlyfans accounts turn 30 and realise they have zero prospects to see why any sane culture, religious or otherwise, would promote chastity and the family unit over unchecked coomerism.

Reminds me of an old Buddhist moral about why alcohol is considered among the worst defilements for a monk.

A monk is walking from town to town for alms and is tired and thirsty, so he sits beneath a tree in the shade to rest.

A woman comes along and sees him tired. Feeling sorry for him, she approaches and offers him meat to eat or wine to drink. If he can't accept either of those, she offers to spend the night with him instead.

The monk considers the options. Eating meat would mean eating from an animal that suffered, so that's out. Sleeping with the woman would also defile his purity, so that's out, too. Seeing the only option that was left was wine, which seemed the least of the three evils, he accepted her alcohol to slake his thirst.

The monk, after drinking all the wine, became drunk. In his drunkenness, he decided to eat the woman's meat and sleep with her as well.

Moral of the story is: drinking is worse than all the other obviously bad things because it compromises your ability to remain pure through deciding to not engage in those other behaviours.
