If Ellis hadn't set up the expectation that she was perfectly woke and smugly judged others who weren't perfectly woke, she never would have gotten cancelled. She began her Twitter "career" by taking a woke stance. If you don't execute it perfectly, you will be cancelled. The culture is not accommodating to mistakes. There was only one way that Ellis could have made it out of this without a perpetual stain on her back and that was to ignore it all. Maybe she could have been based and put her foot down but that's a far reach. The only thing she's done that's made me like her even remotely was publicly humiliating a creepy man on Twitter.

She's one of the most irritatingly self-righteous anti-JK Rowling/anti-terf spokespeople out there, so personally, I'm glad that she got that smug hand back in her face. She has no job or contract that I'm aware of to remove her from so this is the next best thing. If there's continued silence then I would say that she was cancelled.

Don't be a dick. It's perfectly fine for women to not want children. Many do so out of dedication to their career, lack of good timing, or just recognizing that parenting is not for them. No one gives a shit whether or not they don't have kids. Their ancestors are dead so they certainly don't. No one should feel obligated to have kids because otherwise they'll be looked down on by society. That just brings more unloved, unwanted children into the world. People are fine taking alternative routes and the same can be said for men as well.

I think it's less an obligation to society and more an obligation to yourself any kind of morality or theology aside humans need strong social connections and i doubt it's all that comfy to be 50-60ish with no family.

If you think you're too mentally broken for parenting or if you'd rather focus on a career so you can spend your life paying taxes to people with kids, then there are plenty of "alternative routes" available to you. Like, maybe don't have casual sex with random Indian grad students?
