Dumb kids having no reference point for better cawntent and the fact that better shit was less accessible for a dozen different reasons back in the day, coupled with the innate obsession sped flavoured kids have in "expanded soap opera universe" schtick meant that these creators would automatically get a dumb kid following mob, and when they started crossing over they wound up dramatically expanding their own viewerbases until you got an e-fame critical mass effect happening since they became so big as to get viewers just because of how e-famous they were.

By the time the 2010s rolled around they all did see pretty dang severe drops in interest as darwinism kicked in and less autistic seeming/more industrious/more shiny creators started churning out cawntent direct to youtube, but for the bigger fish in that pond who were able to keep putting shit out they managed to keep hold of a substantial chunk of their old fandom due to habit and emotional sunk cost fallacy

A year or four ago, a Russian film about the first spacewalk came out. It was made with feedback from Alexei Leonov, the cosmonaut who did it, and who has since passed. Some people on YouTube commented the trailer "looked like Gravity," which is naturally idiotic. Yes, asshole, they got EVAs fairly right in Gravity, although there's a fair amount of minor stuff to bitch about in that film.
I know fuck-all about this Last Dragon film. For all I know, it's based on actual stories, and Avatar: TLA ripped them off. If that's the case, then, yeah, hearing how it looks like Avatar could be a little annoying, and deserving of "No, Avatar is the ripoff, you ignorant slut." Not "RAAAAYYSIS!" But that's just cancel culture at work.

And of course, I'm only too glad to see Ellis get reamed over it, even if I think it might be unfair.

Avatar TLA is basically an homage to various east asian cultures, incorporating much of their philosophy and martial arts and giving it a grander display by tying elements into various fighting styles. Its also a fantasy adventure through a continent divided into factions in the middle of war. It also has strawhats, rice and dragons.

The Last Dragon is more of a mishmash of a shallow interpretation of various east asian cultures. a Moana with "asia" scribbled over it. It also is a fantasy adventure through a land at war. Also, it has strawhats, rice and dragons.

The only similiarity between the two, outside of being an adventure through a land at war (aka every fantasy story with war in it), is Strawhats, rice and dragons.
I dont think Lindsay ellis is a racist, because that implies she actually gives a fuck about something, but i do sort of kind of barely see where people are coming from.
