I am not going to be in town when the verdict is announced. I got a homie up in Two Harbors and I'm staying with him for like a month after the trial ends.

I live in downtown Minneapolis in a building that has many windows and is highly flammable, so fuck staying here for that shit.
Would had been nice to have a kiwi reporting from ground but its best to keep your own safety as the priority, hope they don't wreack much of your shit and stay strong

I don't get why Floyd not being a clean angel matters so much to so many people in this thread. Floyd's already served his time, it's not like he got off scot-free every other instance. Chauvin's a felony tax fraud, has had 26 misconduct reports and 5 additional bodies to his name on top of Floyd's with no consequence.

The world isn't black and white. Floyd's no angel, Chauvin's no angel. What matters now is that Chauvin's on trial and facing due process for his crimes, meanwhile Floyd never got the chance to. To Chauvin, Floyd was a rando, he had no way of knowing what Floyd could have possibly done in the past at that very moment he was choking him. Retroactive justification is ridiculous.

Come now, don't act like they weren't putting Floyd on a pedestal.
Going by his funeral, you'd be inclined to believe they were mourning Mahatma Gandhi.

George Floyd, the Fentanyl Groid, was no fucking Gandhi. He was a criminal scumbag, who managed to overdose one time too many.
But since he was also a whiny bitch, who couldn't "breef", he's now presented as a poor victim of hu-white supreme rayciss America...
Frankly, I don't see a point in humoring this laughable narrative.
Seen it too many times before. We had Skittle-Jesus, Gentle Giant, heck, even the Jacob Blake story was blown up as supposed police brutality.
Remember what all of these cases had in common?

I'm kinda excited to see how many black neighbourhoods get torched in the aftermath. How many wallmarts get looted? But then I realise that, as a brit, the riots here will be almost as large as in the US. I fucking hate how BLM UK acts like they are treated the same by british police, who hardly kill anyone regardless of skin colour. Goddamn copycats. In Ireland there were BLM marches even though only 1 black guy got killed by police in the last 20 years.

What do you will happen in other countries is Chauvin doesn't get convicted? More virtue signalling or something a little more spicy?

This shit isn't about actually caring about blacks for those people, its all about validation and feeling like they stood up to something.
Except you know, actual laws and stuff that take their rights away.

There hasn't been a good black person since Chris "Can't Cum Corner" Dorner.

I'm a little ifffy predicting Derek will be declared not guilty, simply because of the jury, but I think we all can agree he won't get as harsh a sentence as BLM wants. They want the death penalty, they want this guy in jail for life, and he won't get that. At absolute worst, he'll get manslaughter and then parole in a few years. At best, he walks completely free. Either way, expect to see the worst chimp out you have ever seen.

The problem isn't Floyd's character. I think his personal morality is irrelevant to criminal proceedings. The problem is that the Left has made him out to be a retroactive saint who was killed for being black by a racist police officer, when that simply isn't the case. If you ask a normal person why he was killed, they'll probably tell you "Because racist Chauvin knelt on his neck for 10 minutes". They won't know that Floyd took a lethal dose of drugs, or that he was non-compliant while being apprehended for committing a crime, and physically towered over Chauvin. They have literally idealized him as a saint. I want justice to be done to Chauvin. No more, no less. But I don't think justice will be done unless we accept that Floyd wasn't a saint, and this issue isn't as black and white as we all want to accept.

By the time this trial is done, I want to know - can they prove Floyd died by a blood choke? Was it standard operating procedures for a cop to place a knee on the neck of a suspect for an extended period of time? Was Chauvin likely to know his actions would lead to the death of Floyd? Did he have a duty to stop constraining him even after he stopped moving?

These are the elements of Second and Third Degree murder, and Third Degree Manslaughter. The unfortunate fact is that Floyd is already dead. His rights cannot be infringed any more. We now have to ensure that Chauvin's rights are not infringed, and justice is done, not rule by the mob.

Actually, I believe they worked together before as security for some club. At least I remember hearing that before the great mostly peaceful riots of 2020.
I remember hearing about this too, and take this with a grain of salt as there seems to be contradicting reports on whether, or not they actually worked directly with each other, and whether, or not Floyd actually worked at the same place in general, but allegedly the club they both worked at was really sketchy, and for a brief while, there was a theory going around that Chauvin killed Floyd because of some shady shit that happened back there.

I don't think it's true, because there's too many contradicting accounts, and not enough tangible evidence, but if it is, it would definitely explain a few things.

You know who was more worthy of such an extravagant funeral? David Dorn.
Good point.
A productive member of society, still on the force after 50 years of service.
And how many people even know his name? The news media sure as hell forgot it quickly.

On the same day, a scumbag overdosed on Fentanyl: Worldwide outrage, to this day.

I don't see 2nd Degree murder charges sticking, but he's going to be nailed on manslaughter or on 3rd degree. He acted with willful negligence, used way too much force, and otherwise he's got a habit of incidents like this in the past - the judge forbid the prosecution from using that, but did allow the previous arrest of floyd to be brought on record. The fact is, when someone stops breathing in your care, and you're restraining them, the thing to do isn't to just assume they're faking it, it's to check to make sure they're still breathing.

I'm getting some serious mandella effect vibes. Didn't this already happen? And didn't he walk?

Maybe I'm thinking about the death of that one lady that ended up getting shot in a crossfire with a cop? I dunno.
Are you thinking about the Mexican that shot the nigger in the hoodie?

Because the Zimmerman/Trayvon case was a race baiting media circus clusterfuck as well.

Its probably one of those things that got grossly embellished or even fabricated by some "journalist."
