Gonna PL a bit and admit that I'm living in one of the surrounding suburbs of Minneapolis so just want to ask people who aren't how is the trial is being covered?
Here it seems like local news stations rather then standard reporting are going out of their way to rely on live feed from the trial as much as they can so you'd have to be living under a rock to not see the trial. I have a few ideas about why their doing this but kind of fall apart if this is the case nation wide.
Honestly makes me wonder, will they stream the days when the prosecutions witnesses are testifying and go to Don Lemon to summarize the defense? Showing people what's going on hasn't been a part of the news for years!

Well, we've finally made it. Derek Chauvin has finally appeared in court for third degree murder in the Death of George Floyd. People have been talking about making a separate thread for the trial itself instead of keeping it contained in the thread dedicated to riots that might come from it, so here you go.

Anyway, the case most likely relies on if the knee was the thing that directly led to Floyd dying, contributed to it, or was a result of a bunch of drugs (namely Fentanyl) that can fuck you up real good.

Also, there's the part where George Floyd may be what you call a "career criminal" or at the very least he's known to swallow his drug stash to get out of a possession charge. Probably add that to the defense's case as well, along with anything else that could be argued as "Derek Chauvin kneeing George Floyd did not directly kill him, or even contributed to it".

I think I got everything. If this is closed early by mods, I'll probably leave making a separate thread to someone else.

Edit: Bodycam footage from ground zero: https://no-cookie.kiwifarms.net/data/video/1492/1492403-5be094af3e724ec246d854ec392f1348.mp4

Edit 2: Featured post. Nice.
THE RACE WAR STARTS NOW

I gotta ask our favorite lawyer from Minnesota about that one. If that's true that is fucking retarded. I think robbing a pregnant woman might be an important detail to bring up in court.
It isn't. Past records of criminal activity only apply usually if the defendant's actions are in some way in line with that sort of behavior. Floyd isn't on trial here - his criminal history is irrelevant, as how could Chauvin have known it? That the defense wanted it included is basically an attempt to try and blame the dead person with 'they had it coming', which isn't relevant to the question of the trial - did Chauvin's actions result in the death of George Floyd, and if they did, to what degree of responsibility for Floyd's death does he have?

...I think robbing a pregnant woman might be an important detail to bring up in court.
It might seem like it, but strictly speaking its only evidence that Floyd's a big piece of shit which would prejudice the jury, though strictly speaking Floyd isn't on trial either...so I'm not exactly sure how the balance on whether it is admissible would work. It's all an argument in reality so they make it and hope it flies.

The arrest video is far more directly relevant though as it shows a pattern of behavior for Floyd indicating a pattern of abloo-blooing Mann's Hoodrat Theater and shotgunning drugs to try and avoid an arrest, rather than legitimate distress on the part of the "victim", so it's good they managed to get that admitted.

I love how people with no exposure to physical violence suddenly become BJJ purple belts with medical degrees.

Raw bodycam video shows George panicking and complaining about not being able to breathe before they even lay him on the ground....probably a combo of meth causing a panic attack + the fentanyl combo he swallowed. Previous police videos show he's absolutely retarded and cannot follow the most simplest compliance directions from police, either via anxiety or just being...who he is.

If there's some sort of windpipe choke going on with the position, he won't be screaming "I can't breathe", because you can hear giant gasps of air he's taking in.
If it's a bloodchoke, you can obviously still talk, but a good blood choke will make you go out within seconds. Find your local BJJ guy and ask him to demonstrate his favorite collar choke as hard as he can while you don't resist; chances are you'll be waking up seconds later because you won't even have time to tap him.

Closest kind of choke I can think of would be a Kata Gatame, where their own shoulder blocks off one of the arteries and your wrapped arm covers the other. With a knee on the back, you'd at best get one artery weak.

It's a lot like the Eric Garner situation. The police cannot size up every situation and possibility or quiz an individual if they have heart conditions or medical conditions where a compliance technique would be fatal. At some point you have to understand if you don't follow directions and resist, you're putting your life on the line, because life is a contact sport and shit happens.

That said, Floyd under heavy drugs can add a lot of variables, but if the cop has no evidence he's on drugs, he isn't going to treat a 30 yr old 6 foot, fit black man like a 60 yr old white man with a pacemaker, sorry.
Floyd was 46, and he was already on the ground in handcuffs being restrained by multiple officers. Particularly after he had passed out, there was no justification for Chauvin to keep his knee on Floyd's neck like that.

I can guess that but was more asking how they are commenting on it.
Might change but for now local stations seem hesitant to say the bare minimum where I expect the national ones awash with pundits arguing for this or that.
There's commentary on it, yeah, but that's the same with the OJ Trial. Court procedures are long and boring so most people are going to be tuning into various pundits, obviously, but they're not commenting on it during the procedures. I don't know if it's on TV, but it is being streamed.

No one has even mentioned it where I am because no one even cares. They only cared when America started burning and they'll only care when it starts burning again.

I believe the MSM is going to have a tough time sticking to their narrative as the trial unfolds over the next few weeks and might very well quietly drop it.

This isn't a 'I thought the suspect hand a gun' type case where there is no other information and thus fodder for endless speculation on motive.

With the Floyd case there is so much hard evidence for acquittal that the MSM will have to ignore that normal people will be able to see for themselves that MSM will just throw in the towel and start looking for something new to fuel their narrative just like the Jussie Smollett incident was memoryholed.

FINALLY!

I dread of what is about to come after this...

What the hell, at least we get to watch from afar. History of the making.
At least your Hollywood picture game will be sharp.
My prediction is Chauvin will walk and some nigga will shoot him outside the courthouse

That or that same nigga will rush in to the trial and kamikaze his black ass in the name of the kangz
I know I bring up The Boondock Saints, but it's very rare that you can pinpoint THE EXACT SCENE of what'll happen.
Rooftop Koreans 3: Flames for George Floyd

Here's to LA, hope everyone is living near some rooftop Koreans.

I'm not sure if that'll happen with all the #StopAsianHate movement, and how the left has made it "all races vs white people in the fight for social justice".
From what I heard, but never confirmed. Obama.

Basically took all the Somali refugees and put them in MN to culturally enrich the place. At least that's how I heard it.
Is that a regular thing for Presidents? Is it strategy? Or is is just blindly throwing a dart at a map of the US.
I know my reasoning sounds over the top but after seeing how the world has been turned on its head in the last couple of years, nothing seems too outlandish or off the table anymore.
Don't feel too bad. What usually gets called doomposting may just be something that's to come and you just talk about way too soon.
Edit2: Maybe both of them then? 🤷‍♂️ a compare and contrast.

Edit: from @tehpope thanks. Also this video @Random Internet Person:

Maybe we should add the local archived footage of the police bodycam footage to the OP, the one of Floyd's arrest? (I remember an 18 minute version, but maybe I am imagining things?)

Good refresher of the event. (I have no idea how to embed local copies...)
Added.
The trial of the century and this thread is about debating @Arm Pit Cream on the logistics of doxxing and other stuff.
It's politics on Kiwi Farms. WHy are you surprised?
It'd be great if the poll had an options for "not guilty enough (for the mob)" to deal with the very real possibility he's found guilty of lesser offenses but none of the murder charges stick.

Because that's where I think this is going to end up personally.

Edit: thankies.
I do my best.

They didn't even do that for Kobe, and he bounced balls.
Well, Kobe was relegated to The City of Angels. And The City of Brotherly Love.

Also, funny thing, when the riots were going on, Kobe's murals were left alone. https://www.tmz.com/2020/06/02/kobe-bryant-murals-untouched-los-angeles-riots-protests-vanessa/
