oh yea, did Phil mention anything about paying quarterly before? I remember @actually talking about how he *should* be paying it. And how much more work does the tax guy need to do? Are these different from his personal tax payments?
The last time he really mentioned much about the payments, he said that he had set a payment schedule with his tax guy, but had been
underpaying regularly. So the final payment was going to be significant. Phil mentioned today that there was no way to know what he would owe despite the fact that the tax guy is clearly smart enough to have established estimates based on Phil's earnings.
Phil's explanation of paying his tax guy was a pretty
big mess earlier - I haven't been able to find it and I only caught bits and pieces earlier. It's fairly unclear when he talks about this guy, which taxes he is talking about at any given time, but it seems to be mostly federal lately.
It sounds like he owed the tax guy for some previous work, then he had to pay him for the current taxes, then he is going to have to pay him for more in the near future.
If this is true, then he has been lying about the tax guy extensively.
In February of last year, Phil held a fundraiser for $1250 to pay him 'up front' for the tax work. This made sense - Phil was in the middle of a bankruptcy, why would the guy work on a promise. Phil then begged for help once the bankruptcy was settled because the tax guy was renegotiating his tax repayment schedule with the IRS. Phil then begged in February for $1000 to pay the tax guy up front again, but kept saying he hadn't done it yet, while also paying for 'emergency expenses.'
So... what did he still owe the guy for if he can't defer his payments? The negotiations in the fall? Phil admitted he had surplus money from hitting the tips goal through until Christmas. Why didn't he pay him then? Why didn't he say anything about owing more when he begged for the $1000? Why is he still allowing himself to accrue debts for necessary services? Why was the $1000 less than the $1250 last year, when there was apparently more money owed, and he was prepaying for the same service? If this is 'paid up front', then what is he paying for the tax guy again coming up? If he needs to be 'paid up front', how does Phil owe him money? Or does Phil need to 'pay up front' because he already owed the guy money when he needed him to start on the current taxes and just expected to be able to owe him more?
Phil needs a clear reason to beg, but it's obvious that he has lied, to the tune of thousands, about the money he owes his tax guy, when payments have been due, and probably the cost of his services every time he has mentioned him. This should be simple - adults and businesses tend to charge a particular amount for services rendered. Unless the tax guy has watched Phil's stream and realizes suckers will pay random amounts if you just keep telling them you need more, Phil hasn't been honest with his audience
once about his dealings with this guy.
It's also a good reminder not to get angry about the $750. Phil can't manage money to save his life. All of this will be squandered because he has lost control of his life. He is apparently actively looking for ways to accrue more debts, even without a credit card. The paypigs? Deserve to be scammed at this point. Be elated that some suckers just deprived themselves and their families of hundreds of dollars on nothing. Cheer them on. $700 for Street Fighter? Please paypigs, I can't handle being that owned twice in one day!
EDIT: WillSonofAragorn has turned up with $20, saying that he's been away for a while, but is back, and gives some complimentary message. Interesting that this missing whale has turned up on the night stream the day after there was a massive influx of money from an anonymous source on the day stream... surely those two things aren't connected.
Also, I don't know if anyone mentioned it - the goal tonight is still $100. He can't even act on good faith and just call it a day on the begging and drop the goal tonight.
Phil mentioned at the start of tonight's stream that he wore the platinum and the camo earlier. He said
nothing about the amount of money that he made. Usually if he wares two vests, he at least says that they hit a double vets goal earlier.
He intentionally avoided mentioning the money he made earlier.
EDIT 2: He is 30 subs away from the goal. We can do it, Phil says, if we can get 30 subs by tomorrow.

's spent today was worth it. The piss poor effort to wear a sleeveless article of clothing is truly a new level of lazy for Dave.
