I don't think they really had much of a connection either way, and seeing as how Floyd was a drug addicted violent felon… I know people that would pay money to get rid of a family member like that, but getting fucking millions for it? lmao the dream come true.
Dont forget he had kids apparently. Hopefully his children got the child support from his death they never got in life.

Due to people telling Chauvin to get off of Floyd it could be argued he acted recklessly as to whether Floyd lives or dies.

The hooting and howling of a baying mob have no bearing on the appropriateness of a police restraint. The opinions of a bystander are worthless there, as they don't have the training, knowledge, or complete information on the situation in front of them.

Policework has to be one of the worst imaginable. The work is dull 99% of the time and goes lethal in a split-second 1% of the time. You deal with the worst dregs of the society on a daily basis. You can't arrest the people who force more and more paperwork on you each year. You try to think for yourself and you're fired for disobeying orders. You do everything by the book and you're fired anyway if anything goes south. Christ.

When you're dealing with a muscular thug tripping on whatever-the-fuck designer drug is popular now, there really isn't any other way but to pin him flat to the ground just in case he decides to bash his head into the pavement.

No wonder there are so many dumb psychos in the force. When robots get good enough policemen will be the first to be replaced by them as it will save a ton of headaches IMO. Armchair Batmans will be able to scream at a robot when it kills somebody during arrest and no one will care.
If policeman get replaced by robots we all suffer. Robots would know only the letter of the law, not the spirit. Police officers are given wide latitude to interpret the law and decide if its worth enforcing in the moment. For example, a human cop who finds a young teenager with a little bit of pot will likely give the kid a bit of a scare and a lecture to go along with it, but then let them go. A lesson taught but no need to make it official. A robot will arrest them, giving them a record. No lesson taught in a gentle way, just enforcement per the letter.

Thats the reason we are witnessing this shit show. A bunch of people with no relevant experience in police techniques screaming how they should be doing their jobs.

Man if I was an attorney, I would fucking hate calling a young black guy to the stand whether they were on my side or not, because they give absolutely zero fucks about your qualifications or authority in a legal setting.
You may find this interesting.

As a young lawyer, I believed the official story that blacks are law abiding, intelligent, family-oriented people, but are so poor they must turn to crime to survive. Actual black behavior was a shock to me.

The media invariably sugarcoat black behavior. Even the news reports of the very crimes I dealt with in court were slanted. Television news intentionally leaves out unflattering facts about the accused, and sometimes omits names that are obviously black. All this rocked my liberal, tolerant beliefs, but it took me years to set aside my illusions and accept the reality of what I see every day. I have now served thousands of blacks and their families, protecting their rights and defending them in court. What follow are my observations.

Although blacks are only a small percentage of our community, the courthouse is filled with them: the halls and gallery benches are overflowing with black defendants, families, and crime victims. Most whites with business in court arrive quietly, dress appropriately, and keep their heads down. They get in and get out — if they can — as fast as they can. For blacks, the courthouse is like a carnival. They all seem to know each other: hundreds and hundreds each day, gossiping, laughing loudly, waving, and crowding the halls.

When I am appointed to represent a client I introduce myself and explain that I am his lawyer. I explain the court process and my role in it, and I ask the client some basic questions about himself. At this stage, I can tell with great accuracy how people will react. Hispanics are extremely polite and deferential. An Hispanic will never call me by my first name and will answer my questions directly and with appropriate respect for my position. Whites are similarly respectful.
