Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

Same here at the end of the day, maybe at most $30
It's certainly already heading in that direction. Saw it marked down at my local Wal-Mart at 40 bucks today, which is insane considering the hype it had and being only around four months old. It'll probably hit the 30 mark around summer or fall then, if not less come holidays.

I'm convinced that not a single person in poland owns an ultrawide monitor because you cant move the cursor out of a 16:9 zone in the center of the screen in photo mode, probably because all of the menus are 16:9. Not sure if tutorial popups such as equipping the hacking programs still appear behind the bars but i assume they do too.

(was originally going to use the floating sight in photo mode as an example of a small issue)

So I went into CP2077 completely blind. Didn't follow any of the hype or watch any of the vids. I was aware it was being hyped to shit, but I didn't want to spoil myself. Put around 100 hours into it doing all the cloned side missions cause I had nothing better to do. It had its moments, but there was a lot that felt empty or missing. Best way to describe the game is encapsulated in the prologue. I went corpo and remember walking through the building, listening to the folks, expecting all these little tidbits to matter later in the story. Talking to my boss and expecting to go on a mission to expose some corposlut. "This is so awesome... lets go." Then you realize oh shit that's it, it's over... this is all actually meaningless". Felt the same way leading up to stealing the macguffin. "This is fun enough, I hope the rest of the game is like th-...oh".

After I finished the game I finally got online and started reading all the pre release hype and lies and holy fucking shit. They lied so shamelessly hard all I could do is laugh at the end product. I totally get why people that followed this thing for years closely are raging. As a standalone non hyped experience it's a 6-7 out of 10. Factoring in the open lies and shady review tactics and all that, it's a 2 at best. I'll certainly never believe or listen to a word coming out of their polack mouths again.
Have you played the recent Deus Ex games. I'd imagine that more 'focused' experience would be better.

I got off the hype train around 2018 with the first gameplay reveal. Being 1st person only sans vehicles in addition to lack of dialogue options compared to Witcher 3 really killed my interest. I might get it a year or two down the road, but the game's initial state of release was really insulting. Absolutely no excuse to have crime system worse than games released over 20 years ago.

So here I am, watching Vinny from Vinesauce undergo his glitchy love quest for Shrimp Lady, and I think I was only hit with the feels twice the entire time.
Jackie's death.
The quest where a convict who becomes a born again Christian wishes to have his execution turned into a crucifixion brain dance in order to evangelize. Personal bias on my part.

Yeah, the Panam romance was kinda cute, but it got weird with the whole tank sex scene. Graphical glitches turned Panam into a freak of nature.

I just wanted the 2013 version of CP2077 so I can be a ruthless cyber-SWAT guy. :(

Red 2.0? More like Red 1.9 hundreds of zloty per share.
Well their new actual customers (rich fuck investors) must be just as happy about them as their old ones (pleb gamers).

Really the only people I can see being supportive of CDPR are what can only be described as consoomer simps, they treat CDPR like coomer simps treat their favorite camwhore, no matter the fuck up they just throw money and kind words at em. And then they're all mighty surprised at the boyfriend reveal which in CDPR's case is going to be some freudian slip about how much their investors mean to them over pleb gamers.

Fuck CDPR and their simps, what little hope I had of Cyberpunk getting some form of overhaul died with their "New strategy" shit. They can go lay down in the same ditch their share price will go down to.

Never import Canadian workers.
[BHVR disliked that]
Los pepes: Waste of money from what you wrote. Waste of GB's even if you pirate it. NEVER.EVER.Overhype a game from a studio you like/respect, chances are that its gonna crash and burn. I get why people are angry but in the end blind optimism gets you so far. Its 5/10 at best from what i see. Not even John Wick can save it. After a year of patches and a generous discount I might consider buying it.

Site of Origin: Open World Games from 2000s and 2010s are better than whatever CB77 is.
You forgot to include "never expect good games with current year's politics"

I don't just mean the devs including it but also devs being cancel'd by it.

Based upon: TLOU2, Vampire Masquerade 2 and the unknown fate of Dying Light 2

You can allways try Mobile Gaming :story:
Ah, one of the last industries that just wants money out of you without expecting you to suck girl dick and worship niggers.

Truth be told, I like some of mobile gaming, haven't spent more than $100 on any of it but I probably spent more time on some games there then I did on some $60 AAA titles.

For sure, but there have been recent open world RPGs that are good, see Underrail, pathfinder kingmaker, and the 2 new wasteland games. All without AAA budgets, all with far more game for your money.

Watching Muta's vid on the latest Cyberjank patch, I have to know, which fucktard fired the entire QA team?

I got my refund - and I'm still amazed that Soyny of all fucking companies actually gave full refunds (I know, laugh at the filthy console peasant) - but it's just amazing to watch CDPR just speedrun being Bethesda

It's very puzzling to me especially as CDPR had to have seen prior disastrous launches -- FO76, No Man's Sky, WWE 2k20. And then they just forged ahead anyways!

The only thing I can compare it to is when you're a kid, and you know the shit is about to hit the fan, but you keep going because you can't think of any way to change things. Maybe, just maybe, it won't be as bad as you imagine.

I mean, they had issues from the outset with management fucking around, but surely someone knew this was a dumpster fire beyond the rank and file, right?

But then, no one ever went broke underestimating the ability of people to not just lie to each other, but to themselves.

Everything points to them knowing. I mean they kept delaying it, and it feels like they literally delayed it as far as they could.

It really does feel like there was some sort of contract or pressure from Sony/Microsoft to get the damn thing released on the PS4/Xbox One before the systems were phased out for next gen. But they'll never admit to that now that it is such a shit show.

Doesn't excuse anything, of course, but I feel it's clear that they were aware of what a shit show it was going to be and tried to put it off until they couldn't anymore.

Everyone with common sense knew that Cybertrash won't live up to the hype.

However I think no one besides CDPR could have ever imagined the giant pile of garbage this game turned out to be. The only entertaining thing this game has to offer is the complete shitshow surrounding it: lies, broken promises, useless patches, more lies, dumb excuses, refunds etc.

From the plot and writing I have to say it is not that terrible. The Prelude and Interlude is quite hefty written. The 2nd Act drags balls but 3rd Act and Ending is quite surprising what this game involves and how it revolves around several matters like life, consciousness, moral values. From what I know all endings are bad for V. Some more, some less but in the end our hero have to face consequences of his choices. I really enjoyed doing side missions and most notably for the 3 main secondary characters: Panam, Judy, River. There is some work put in their backstory, their intentions are understandable and dialogues are really involving.

Maybe its not the best written game but all choices I find reasonable from writer perspective. You can't end this story with merry songs and loved ones waiting for your return. The gun is loaded and pointed at your head from the beginning of Interlude and is by your side all the way to the sorrow end. You may call it a cliche Chekhov gun but for me, personally, it is well developed cliche.

The game suffers mostly from bugs, bad economy (that is somewhat fixed with 1.2 patch) and UI. I don't think they can rid of all bugs because they are related to lacks of game engine which shows it is not best for sandbox games.

Anyway, from storytelling point, this game is strong 8/10.

I like a lot of Cyberpunk and its story but the biochip was an awful plot point that did not mesh with the gameplay at all. You're told you will die slowly and painfully and it will happen "soon" (I'm pretty sure Vic gives you three weeks), but this doesn't align with the open world gameplay design and doesn't even attempt to.
