This is something I have actually been talking to somebody about these past few days. I have mostly been watching the trial on a stream that offers absolutely 0 commentary, but when I switched over to the ABC News stream on YouTube it was almost surreal what they were doing. Almost every 20 minutes or so, sometimes less, they would break into the court proceedings and basically give you a debriefing about what you just saw. Most of the time in the guise of "analyzing" what just occurred they would attempt to essentially emotionally coach you into thinking what just was discussed or what just unfolded didn't even happen, mostly that the defense was a bunch of rambling lunatics with zero argument and how the prosecution has an open and shut case. I don't like to use the term gaslighting but its basically text book what it was. It's increasingly reminding me of the O.J. trial, not so much in that the judge is bad (he appears to be trying to keep things on the rails), but that what is actually going on in court and what the media is saying are at such complete variance that the public is getting a completely distorted view of what the jury is seeing.
People were shocked by the acquittal in the O.J. case but nobody who actually watched it should have been.
Its safe to say people who are only watching the case through the lenses of MSNBC, CNN, ABC ect, are watching a 100% different reality than if they were to just sit down and watch the court proceedings.
