I still don't understand how emts are not stabilizing his neck. Fucking weird.
Immobilization of spine/neck is typically done when you suspect a possible spinal injury or show up to a scene with literally no clues and you have to just do it just in case.

If the police said he ran and fell on his head or neck or was struck by a car, anything with a good deal of force, it would have probably been done.

Question for Americans with knowledge of this stuff but can the judge accept a majority verdict or does it have to be unanimous? Here they can accept a 10-2 at the judge's discretion if a unanimous verdict isn't possible after multiple sessions of deliberation.

Must be unanimous either way or it's a mistrial

So is there any chance the Defense will do a demonstration of knee on the neck for 9 minutes in front of the Jury before asking the guy on the ground if he's dead yet?
If the defense attorney just steps outside the courthouse and waves down the first black crackhead he sees and demonstrates “if the knee don’t fit, acquit” for 9:30 minutes, we will officially live in the best timeline.

Because his neck wasnt injured probably

They dont stabilize the neck when theres no obvious sign of neck/head/spinal injury and no reason to think there is. The neck stabilizes itself when it isnt injured just fine

Couldn't the defense use this when questioning an emt?

To shoot more holes in the state's quickly sinking ship, if they haven't already done so.

Criminal trials must have a verdict be unanimous. Though a judge does technically have the power to supersede the verdict of a jury.

To what end? The dispute is about compression of the airway causing asphyxia, not concern over spinal injury.

I didn't expect anything other than trying to bus throw from the senior officers. We used to have a joke when I was in: the front plate of your stab proof vest is for when you're on the street and the back plate is for when you're back in the station.
Makes sense. Chief of police knows it's his reputation on the line if Chauvin is convicted so he's coming out front to take the pressure off of himself. Police politics are dirty business.

Jury has to be unaniomous, otherwise it’s “hung” and declared a mistrial.

That'd only be relevant if the state calls another EMT. I don't see why the defense would call an EMT onto the stand, since the only ones on the scene that day were the retard who was already hostile to the defense and the boring guy who showed up after everything had happened. The only medical personnel that'd be worth questioning are the paramedics and the doctor who already confirmed there was no spinal injury. The defense is only gonna hold if they keep their case really tight.
