She did complain on Twitter because IIRC Elisa Hansen mods her YouTube comments (Todd's too) and lives in Charlotte, NC and Angelina Meehan writes for her and lives in Philly. It’s a shitty movie that panders to the Chinese market. In 2021, any criticism of a Disney movie means you are a bigot. Having this opinion while #StopAsianHate is raging makes you a Turbo Giga Nazi (versus us Diet Nazis). Plus she said “squinting”, which of course was received poorly.

These people can talk endlessly about themselves. This video was Lindsay flexing and rallying her simps. The woke mob will make things tougher for her.

And like all pandering it falls flat, because it doesn't understand its audience and is actually aimed at western prejudices about China and east asian cultures.

You know what was one of the most successful movie franchises in China? Michael Bay's Transformers. The Chinese love them, because they're crazy foreign nonsense with bright colours, dick jokes, robots and explosions. They're 120 minutes of escape from the reality of living in China's dystopic "people's paradise". They go in with the understanding that they're going to watch a bunch of insane gweilo nonsense and not have to think about anything important, and they're not disappointed.

After that is things like The Great Wall, which uses western actors as exotica to spice up an otherwise fairly mundane native production, while exploiting the american movie industry's desire to appear inclusive and diverse.

Raya and the last gasp of hollywood is aimed squarely at western wokes. The greatest irony of all this is that Ellis's criticism of the film is spot on.

ETA: The whole thing is all about Lindsay. That's it. Lindsay good, Jourdain bad, Kyle needs help. Additionally, it places the onus of Dany's mental decline on the accusations from Jourdain, rather than when he lost all his professional clout by talking about review fixing. While the theater kid drama in their social circle couldn't have helped, laying the blame at her feet for his mental decline seems a bit sus.

I mentioned a while back that it was under consideration, but I'm still not convinced that he is lolcow threadworthy outside of his his connection to Lindsay. Chimpouts are infrequent and while he's got a lot of connections to cows and an oddly high number of sexpests (and troons), he's never quite reached that invisible threshold IMO. Outside of the recent Lindsay drama, he's been pretty boring as a creator since the start of the year and it could be argued, since his California move.

Beyond the Lindsay/Todd symbiosis, is he a cow? Even Lindsay's cowstatus has been questioned at times, and separating the two seems unwise. Using the Kevin Gibes/Tranch thread separation as an example, dividing the two diluted both by isolating the interaction when the spergery is more than just the sum of its parts. At this exact moment, I won't make a thread but he's like one chimpout from knives out.
