I'd say that if one took a metaphorical walk in my past shoes, then it's not really insignificant because of how much I saw that shit being played in high school when it clearly shouldn't be, like 2 hours every day during my senior year. I think the reason I was angry was because of how much of them there are, and how no one really does anything to try to correct their clearly misinformed ways.

I did address the issue a good year and a half after I left, talking to one of the people over the phone.

I have not watched every MLP episode, but I did watch a sizable amount in order to gain a more valid opinion on the show. The only time I could bear watching an entire episode again was through an anti-brony commentary of some sort (they do exist, btw).

Because there was this one Barney fan (who was like 4 years older than I was BTW) watching Barney on the computer, I tried telling him why he shouldn't be watching it and then the counsellor came out and threatened suspension if I continued my behaviour, so I just didn't do anything much during my time there.

Like I'll agree that a lot of special education stuff, especially in underfunded districts, is all kinds of fucked up. With them either taking the stance of "they're all retards who even cares, just show them Nick Jr and 2+2 and take our state money" or "fuck it shove them in regular class and hope they figure it out" with no good middleground. But that's neither here nor there to this person apparently, because Barney is bad or something.

Then why not focus your energy on the real problem? The real problem is that the system treats all people with special needs the same. In any case, it's in the past, and while I do feel for you, and I'd feel humiliated if I was infantilized for my disability, your anger is misdirected. Have you talked to a therapist or psychiatrist about it?

Of the seven I knew, it seemed like maybe half were genuine fans that had the ability to search that shit up, and half were just dumped in front of a computer screen that played Barney. It's hard to tell which ones were the real fans, but 7 of them is still way too goddamn much.

When talking about speedrunning, Barneyfag is actually pretty normal for one of those niches of a niche gamers. But on Off Topic, I think he showed his true colors.

Unfortunately, yes. Pretty small and non-vocal, but they sure do exist, alright. I saw 40 million views on one of the episodes of that shit and I'm like...fucking WHY? A bunch of others cross the million views mark as well.

Just out of a sick curiosity, I looked at some of the comments left on some of the episodes, and was quite sickened at how the "fans" felt that the show has declined and that they think the old episodes should be re-released on DVD (as if THEY were the target audience to begin with).

To be fair, this hatred also stems from MLP. As you can imagine, I worked with autistic high school students, and was subject to quite a bit of Barney (more than should be normal for anyone who is sane). It scarred me quite a bit. About a year into it, there was a video from a manchild who was trying to defend Barney (very weakly) from this YouTube user named BlackBusterCritic. As you can imagine, that video was met with derision and flak out the ass.

Shortly after, MLP came to my country, and it was on a preschooler's channel slotted right after Barney. Ironically, some of those same people that hated on the Barney fan ended up becoming bronies themselves, not knowing what they were getting into, and the following year, I noticed a string of Barney fans becoming bronies as well, with at least one of them using MLP to defend why he shouldn't get flak for liking Barney.

About the last year I worked with them, Barney was being played pretty much every day there, against my will on computers. Unfortunately, to my dismay, it was in a room that also had a computer hooked up to a giant screen adjacent to the computer playing Barney, and THAT computer played concerts from bands like the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Rush, AC/DC, Rolling Stones and Three Stooges. Mainly for this one student with locked-in syndrome, but now I can't look at anything from those bands without thinking of Barney, because they were both being played in the same area at the same time.

But then again, I looked up some of these Barney fans' pages, and some of them liked the bands I listed here, so I probably shouldn't have been surprised. Now I have a visceral and abnormal hatred for this piece of shit show and any person well out of its target demographic that likes that shit. I'd almost be willing to call it an avant-garde piece that's not SUPPOSED to make sense, but that'd be giving it too much credit.

tl;dr: Fuck Lauren Faust.

I don't give a damn about Paul Grey. At least when Metallica's bassist Cliff died, at least the band was actually good, so it had some reason to mourn his death. IMO, Slipknot was just a bunch of guys making noise (no, not NIN, that's a different story) that had no talent whatsoever. If he's dead, he better burn in hell with the Rev. Cobain, Staley, Schuldiner, Dimebag, Steele and Dio can continue making music up in heaven, though.

Yeah, that was quite a few years ago, back when I was feeling really edgy, mainly because my brother liked Corey Taylor's other band, Stone Sour, and I just thought of them as terrible because of Slipknot. A7X as well, because he was a huge fan of A7X. If I were to make that same comment back then with the way I am today, I'd try to give Paul some trace of respect, despite me not necessarily being a fan of his music. I realize that he must've been very important to Corey. That kind of comment of mine is one of my regrets. I've matured past that stage, though.
