Nexpo/YT Horror Channels - Do they all suck

Yeah, I remember them from years ago but all the sudden these videos are populating my recommended now even with my extremely aggressive algorithm pruning on that account.
My guilty pleasure is a certain low-effort TTS greentext channel, meaning every now and then my recommended would be flooded with other low-effort TTS greentext channels. So depending on which browser you use, I would recommend seeing if a "Channel Blocker" or "Youtube Blocker" extension is available.

First time I've seen this kiddo, and I already don't like him. He just seems forced, and all the shaming of the viewers that doesn't freak out by everything. At least the mophead have some charisma, and holy fuck. He plans to collaborate with him further.
Ah, shit, you ninja'd me! I don't know what I was watching to have Plagued Moth pop up in my recommendations but I've been using his vids as background noise while I work (which also means I don't have to look at the bargain-bin Rob Zombie hairdo or edgelord Burzum shirts). I like them - it's a nice change from the usual hackneyed true crime/scary media stuff that everyone else covers. I spend entirely too much time online and have still found new stuff on his channel!

Not sure who the other kid is, but as I'm currently listening to this iceberg (about 20 mins in at the mo) I'm steeling myself for something annoying!

You have the username of someone on youtube I spoke to years ago who also likes /x/. I'm guessing that's you.
Yes that's me. Same person.

I'll bite, go ahead and link it.
Ok here it is. The quality is pretty much crap because I shot it on a Flip camera from the early 2000s or something. I made it at a time when Nexpo threads were getting spammed daily. I was sick of it and some of that comes out in the video. I mentioned Night Mind too, cause he does similar stuff. Hope you enjoy. It's the second video of mine to break 1000 views. Anyway...here it is.

No offense, dude, but you look like a cryptid.

Do you have any opinions about Erratas or Worldcorp?
I could go check them out and see what they're like. I think I've heard of WorldCorp. If they're who I'm thinking of then they're sort of cool just for the aesthetic they have going on. They feel like old school vaporwave/seapunk stuff.

i remember seeing icebergs on /x/ so its an old format. just must be gaining popularity I guess...

It's also easy to digest and someone viewing it gets to see some things they're familiar with towards the top, then get to see some new things further down, or feel really cool when something they recognize is towards the bottom.
Autistic storytime, the resurgence of icebergs started with a video game urban legend meme where there was legitimate trivia on the top levels the lower levels got increasingly bizarre and creepypasta-ish. The most popular one was "Every Copy of Super Mario 64 Is Personalized" and multiple youtubers made popular videos explaining the Mario 64 iceberg (which was always a /v/ shitpost, it includes a theory that one of the levels is the castle's sewer and the giant rolling rocks are made of shit). When iceberg videos became more popular they dropped the creepypasta urban legend stuff entirely and became all about the obscure trivia.

But the format being re-popularized by a video game creepypasta is why you see the most iceberg videos about video games and horror.

Plagued Moth I think was the easier of the two to listen to. On top of it being a bit jarring to transition between the two with every tier, the other kid was just too quiet for my taste, like it was obvious he was trying to keep his voice down so he doesn't disturb/wake up someone else. Plagued Moth I'm still debating on if he's worth my time or not, like the topics are neat, but I don't think he does much more than any other channel that would talk about similar subjects (Wendigoon is pretty chill, glad I gave him a watch). Sounds like he at least makes the attempt to try and watch/listen to some of the disturbing stuff he covers, though, and actually talks about what went on, but should he really get brownie points for that?

I wonder if he's gained some traction because of that Russian brick video, that's how I found him, anyway. The disturbing aspect about that video is I think more psychological for the viewer, 'cause all you get is audio, a backstory, and your imagination, and yet you'll never be more disturbed than the husband and other passengers who witnessed the woman suddenly die from a freak accident. Think what got to me more was a child crying in the background, like no kid should ever have to bear witness to that.

I dunno, calling it one of the most disturbing videos on the Internet ever is stretching it, but it's definitely one of those "oh shit" videos that'll leave you in existential dread.

The Russian brick video seems to be one of the ones that people frequently mention when they're talking about the worst things they've seen online, and I don't think I've seen another channel cover it. Thinking about the backstory while watching and listening to it is definitely upsetting but to be honest I don't find it as disturbing as a lot of people make out. That's not me trying to be edgy - I learned about Urmaker from lurking this thread and some of the 911 calls in his videos (especially the ones involving children) have had me in tears!

I've subscribed to Plagued Moth because I'm enjoying his content for now, I personally find it interesting and he has a more confident delivery than the other lad on that iceberg video. I do think he could do without the constant pausing to clutch his pearls or say "holy shit" (or similar horrified expressions), though - we know it's horrifying, dude, there's no need to direct us! Wendigoon is a name I've not heard, so I'll definitely check him out.

911 calls are much more disturbing, but Plagued's videos on the Funky Town gore and that one chick who sliced her arm open (that fucking thumbnail) are of much worse content in my opinion. Think the ones who're saying the Russian brick video is the worst they've seen might be really young people, although apparently zoomers have had their own share of shock gore videos shared to them through Twitter and such. I dunno, it's all pretty messed up.

I've never had the stomach for Funky Town, I was quite happy to have Plagued explain that one! People's mileage varies with this kind of stuff, I suppose. I do feel bad for the young kids who get caught out with these shock gore vids on TikTok and similar, it's such a fucked-up thing to inflict on them.

I'm waiting for it to show up in the watch people die-thread here. Something with going onto a sketchy gore website makes it more spoopy.

That’s the point, but I hate TikTok. So I hope it helps in getting rid of it's existence.

The kid was so awkward and annoying in that iceberg video. I really hope we don't get more collabs with him. My only real issue with moth is a lot of his videos tend to be just 10 minutes of "i heard of this on 4chan/the deep web. Who knows if it's true or not. The end." And he can be very edgelord at times, but overall he's good to listen to between 'Goon uploads.

Is that the nigga who looks like a fat version of the lead singer of Disturbed? I can't stand his ass, he's putting up such a front that he can't maintain. Ew.

Anyways, everyone should check out Dark Histories and Dire Trip.

Iceberg videos are literally just some of the most elaborate and loosely put together shitposts to have come out of the ass end of the 2010s

Lol yep that's him. He's absolutely intolerable to actually watch. You can definitely watch the smug meter rise with him the more videos he does. He's now professed himself an expert on black metal. He also occasionally goes into a weird sjw tangent in his videos. Honestly he reminds me of a goth peetz. Buuut, back round noise.

Even better when he fucks up, and he got kids and birds. One video he was all "I'm a good parent, so this is never going to happen to me".
He got the potential to follow up with.

I sensed cow potential with his 'im getting death threats! I've officially made it on youtube now" video where he channels keemstar. He seems like he could definitely sperg as he gets bigger.

The Russian brick video makes me sad more than anything. It's chilling because that could be you, just driving your car and then all of a sudden your wife is fucking dead in a freak accident.
Urnmaker's video on his daughter makes me REALLY sad.
