The family situation is weird.

Kelly and Gina have at least five other siblings. While it seems like some were/are in contact with her on social media and Kelly maintains she loves them, etc, I have seen none of them visit her at any point and she mentions them very rarely, if at all. The only one that has a consistent presence in her life (although much reduced vs what it was) is Gina.

Similarly, the parents are both alive and although Kelly has said she didn't have the best relationship with her mother in the past, she claims they are now in contact and the relationship is much improved. She also claims her father is supportive and great, etc. Obviously, the question then becomes... If her parents are so great and supportive... Where are they? Not a peep about them, at all. No pictures of their visits, or at least messages or mentions that they were there, etc. Also, she's been in all sorts of facilities/assisted living for most of her adult life... Why? Why couldn't she have been in the care of a parent or at least staying with them? Her entire family seems completely absent, and if I didn't know any better, I would assume they're super shitty. BUT... I think there's something there that either she hasn't spoken about or I just didn't manage to read that far into her insta posts (honestly, reading them is super depressing).

Even if her parents are wonderful people and everything, sometimes there just comes a point where showing any type of support is basically enabling. I don't think showering Kelly with unconditional love and attention is really going to help her.

Her family does not give her unconditional love. She's a BPD Munchie black hole. They know this.

She only received amputation as a last resort to stop her dying from sepsis. She has been septic for a while now.

Her family only gathers in an emergency - a TRUE emergency, because she's cried wolf so many times before. She is still at high risk of death now that the lower legs are gone.

She wants her family always around her self inflicted sick bed. They avoid that until death is actually on the table, knowing her shenanigans.

Don't get too mad about it, the reason blood drives are so common is mostly because blood has a very short shelf-life even with refrigeration. In the developing world a lot of blood ends up getting unfortunately wasted (IE actually disposed of) because of the short shelf life it has. Granted, this doesn't mean anyone here should not consider donating blood if they're healthy and willing to do some good in the world, but don't get upset about this clown being piped enough spaghetti sauce to keep her running.

I looked it up and in Scotland alone (yes, just Scotland) the wastage of donated blood was about 11% due to the necessity of keeping buffer stock in cases of crisis or mass-casualty. But it's always being replenished.

It's not like they pumped her with whole stores of blood at a time and some dude who got shot saving a baby bled out as a result. They'd have given her just enough to keep her alive and facilitate her body reproducing more of her own blood, rather than fully replacing the sheer amount she'd be pissing out of herself.

Nobody who needed blood lost out because of Kelly.

Is she a wasteful cunt? Sure. Should you be seething about the resources put toward her? Nah. This is what large-scale Western medicine exists for, to help people like this. For every one Kelly, a retard that doesn't want to be helped, that exists in the world, there's dozens of more people who are just fuckin' mentally ill and do want to be helped deep down, and thanks to the endless safety nets of medical structures like this, they end up getting the help they need -- or they get sent to an institution where they'll at least not fuck themselves up and die horribly because of their issues.

This is pure speculation, but knowing what an infamously nutso horror cow their sister/daughter is and not wanting to be lopped in with that shit they may have threatened that if she ever put their info online, they’d never speak to her again.
If they’re just absent because she’s insufferable to be around, I couldn’t blame them. Munchies are a slightly different beast from your average self-harmer, and as someone mentioned above the inhuman lengths she goes to for attention and love screams BPD. Seeing your family member covered in self-harm marks from depression is horrible on its own, but knowing they’re doing it just to get a rise out of you must be absolutely awful. Especially when they’re digging into their own legs and strumming their nerves like a guitar. It’s not just the gore, it’s the knowledge that someone they love is doing this on purpose for the most creepy and manipulative reasons.

Long time lurker: I’m not sure if people are new to the thread but I think some people don’t understand how deeply deranged she is. It’s been theorized that for years Kelly purposefully bloodlet massive amounts of blood from the IV ports in her arm which is why she needed the transfusions (and why she’s the vampire munchie). Her veins are scarred pretty bad. Iirc she also has heavy scarring on her arms from years major self harm. I can’t find any photos of just her arms but you can see the scars here.

Kelly's sister Gina had washed her hands of Kelly's endless needy BPD behavior, and has only showed support now because her sister was and still is on her deathbed with sepsis. Strictly a guess at trying to think like a narcissistic schizo, but below the knee still gives her some great mobility options with prosthetics, so she can still strike all of her “beautifuly broken glass ballerina” poses for her IG, with such added strength and pathos that’ll show her fans AND that bitch Gina who’s the REAL sta.. ok ok.. too far into the mindhunting there..

The sores on her hands and arms seemed to magically clear up when she began to concentrate on her shins. How did she make those deep holes?She has a video of herself on instagram filling them in with some kind of antiseptic that she keeps cross contaminating with a cotton swab. This was a pretty horrifying rabbit hole I must say.

Kelly knew where she was headed as early as two years ago. When her last psych hold happened, she did an IG live to explain it and uploaded that to her Dropbox. You can still find a link to that on her FB.

Anyway, among the weird-ass explanations for the hold (which she never mentions again on her insta), she mentions briefly how her doctors have told her that people who lose limbs go through all sorts of psychological and neurological issues. Then she says "not that I'm about to lose my legs, ever"... Bear in mind this is when she had had the grafts put in and now she was home and they were juuuuust about starting to "deteriorate". Why would the doctor mention this? I'm thinking he was trying to obliquely communicate to her what would happen if she kept at it. So she was aware of the possibility. She knew where this was going, doctors had mentioned it and I'm sure as time went on, it was brought up more and more.

But you can't save someone by force. She is extremely lucid and the few times she was unstable (or appeared to be), she was immediately taken to psych (e.g. as above).

Yeah, I’m not saying she wasn’t told, I just think she thought it wouldn’t actually happen to her.
Even if she understood that it was possible, given whatever circumstances, it’s something that happens to other people.

Edit: Don't know if this has been mentioned, but at one stage she went through three ports in 12 months because they kept getting infected. Maybe that's partly why they stuck the IV in her scalp?

I am new to this train wreck why exactly has she not been committed? I feel like she should be in an institution somewhere...we still have some of those right? This is an atrocity from a societal standpoint. This is just horrifying.

You can't commit an adult who does not wish to be committed. Kelly loves medical attention, but not psych attention. She's been involuntarily committed for periods, but they can't keep her forever. She doesn't want to be committed to prevent self harm. Self harm is her raison d'etre.

They will keep her now as long as it takes for the stumps to heal perfectly. They know damn well she will fuck with them after. No one can prevent it.

People with double missing limbs can be surprisingly adaptable and versatile - just look at the paralympics. However, most of these individuals were born this way or lost their limbs at a very young age, so they've had their lifetime and early developmental periods to learn and adapt.

She should be able to bathe herself, at least eventually. There are special chairs you can put in bathtubs/showers to help with the elderly and disabled (not exactly "special" equipment though) and there are also tubs and showers made specifically for people to sit in. Whether or not she'll actually put in the effort to learn...well she would need help while she has healing stumps but as we all know her wounds don't heal.

The 30s and under crowd usually does a stint at rehab, to learn how to function for activities of daily living. They'll learn to do transfers, and scoot around. If they have access to the right OT and insurance, they'll get tools to help them live independently. (Transfer boards, trapeze, shower bench, wheelchair.) But there can still be bumps along the way, and not everyone has the mettle to handle it. Some stay dependent on caregivers.

Even a peak-functioning, young, fit Marine who loses both legs above the knee has a challenge learning to walk on prosthetics. It takes lots of healing, preparation, trial sockets, pain, blisters. And even "expert" amputees often can't wear prosthetics full-time. They still need a wheelchair.

Once people hit their 40s and 50s, their reasons for losing their legs often correlate with general ill-conditioning. Prosthetics aren't even worth considering. It's full time wheelchair, usually a power chair. Which then brings up housing issues, insurance issues, etc. Some can live semi-independently at home, with a family caregiver or occasional homecare nurse. If there's no family or accessible home, they go to a nursing home. Older above-knee double amputees can usually dress themselves, transfer to their wheelchair, and roll onto a bedpan independently. But they sometimes need assistance for bathing, depending on physical setup of shower/tubs. (Ie, many nursing home tubs can only be used with mechanical lift, which requires two staff to operate. Home bathrooms often don't fit a power chair.)

Some people (of any age) just decide to give up, remain invalids, and let nurses take care of them for everything. I knew two double above knee amputee clients at the same facility, who were the same age and condition. One zipped around in her chair, left the place every day to go to the mall, chain-smoked with her friends, did everything but empty her own bed pan. The other laid in bed all day in diapers and a hospital gown, letting nurses wash her while she complained and watched TV.
