Picking is also known as excoriation disorder (formerly dermatillomania), which people who are not necessarily autistic or stupid or even munchies can develop. It's almost the same thing as trichotillomania (compulsively pulling out hair leading to baldness), which is something that Shoe0nHead does. I knew a girl in middle school who wasn't stupid, but disgustingly started picking at her arm skin publicly out of nowhere for months and had huge purple rashy pockmarks on her upper arms. She managed to get reigned in when they got infected and she had to go to the doctor. They healed up and she didn't do it again. I don't know what triggered the behavior for her.

While lots of munchies seem to engage in skin-picking, excoriation disorder by itself seems to develop due to several mental health issues, and is very difficult to treat if not stopped early, because it's a combination of self-harm and OCD. DBT therapy is more effective than CBT therapy.

I'm wonder which came first in Kelly's case: skin-picking or munchiedom? She is certainly a complex headcase, and I can see how compulsive self-harm for munchie attention and compulsive skin-picking is along the exact same lines.

I believe Colleen Ballinger (Miranda Sings) also recently stated that she suffers from excoriation disorder. Regardless of what you may think of her, she's managed to have a lucrative and successful career in spite of it. Skin picking isn't necessary a sign of low intelligence or autism. And she's seeking treatment for it, something Kelly never did/would never do because, according the Kelly's narrative, she never picked her skin, it was her mysterious illness.

Munching by far. Also, I don't believe for a second her munching is compulsive. She does it because she wants to, she has found a reliable way to get a constant stream of attention. She wasn't compulsively bloodletting back in the auto-exsanguination arc, that was a conscious and collected choice on her part. When she had to stop that it was trial and error until she found something that worked and burning herself then picking off the scabs until she had windows through her tibiae was for attention. Not for autism, not for anxiety, not for compulsion, for attention because it's the only way she knows how to get some.

i find it so suspicious that the picking started pretty soon after she had to stop bloodletting and her attention on here dried up - this thread died for like a year and then she started posting pics of her legs and started interacting with this thread again as soon as people posted about it.

she's a munchie through and through - perhaps it also has to do with her mental health and self harming but she truly thrives off the attention.

I'm kinda fascinated to find out if she keeps picking after the amputation because I dont think she has dermotillomania (sp?) and i wonder if the amputation will get her enough attention and asspats for quite a while. I also wonder if she'll magically gain a new diagnoses and s00per speshul illness in a year or so.

Off the top of my head that would me she had/has:

Anemia, Uterus fibroids, MS, Bechts, Anorexia, a mysterious ailment that makes her root canal fall out, a mysterious ailment that makes parts of her mouth go randomly numb, a history of sex work, 2 pregnancies, a still birth and perplexingly, 2 abortions, bruises on her legs that were from her abusive ex that transformed into holes that magically became infected with fecal matter, PTSD, anxiety, a cult stalking her and forcing her to eat and fuck dogs, a secret language with her twin, 3 different birthdays, a BFF who is a hacker to take us and lolcow down, a mysterious ailment that can turn headaches into tumours at any time, has had syringes mailed to her house still wrapped in her hospitals packaging, her accounts hacked at least 4 times, fake medical documents leaked and a condition where she couldn’t pee or maybe the abusive nurses wouldn’t let her? That storyline was unclear and dropped quick.

Don't forget DID. Yes, she claims she was diagnosed with DID (I think around 2012) and she has episodes of 15mins to a couple of hours where she regresses to a 6-8yo child state and has to be taken care of, etc.

Kelly doesn't have excoriation disorder or dermatillomania. The picking is the behviour that has gotten her the most attention and that produced some sort of obscure diagnosis. Before that, she claimed 5 million other things (some with more success than others, depending on how diligent she was with creating the symptoms) and she never picked at her skin.

The self harm for attention is the one constant. Before the picking, it was the blood letting (who knows how she did that, I'm willing to bet she had several ways), before that she claimed she was abused, was prostituting herself or was being forced to do it (personally, I believe she did this also for attention, she lived in a women's facility and she was going out at night to meet Johns? Lmao, no.) and before that she actually did cut herself... You can see the scars on her arms and she has admitted to it.

She is not crazy or unstable. Her brand of insanity is very lucid and deliberate. She knows what she's doing and will never admit to it.

Kelly does that a lot, both for her inventions as well as for real things that happened. It's like she veto'es things that don't fit the current narrative out of her life.

Notice her misterious blood disorder has magically disappeared and she hasn't posted about needing transfusions in years, whereas before she couldn't even go a week without going into hospital for blood. That's because she had a new toy to play with, "Behçets". A couple of years ago someone asked her on one of her insta posts... Hey Kelly how are you doing with the blood thing? Is that still an issue? And she was like... "it's much better now, I only needed a couple of transfusions this year, isn't that great, haha!".. You could feel that person's whiplash in the comments, like... Years of omg, nobody knows what is wrong with her and now suddenly it's just all better.

Then she never spoke of it again. Lmao. She's something else.

So like I know a lot about excoriation disorder and if she ACTUALLY had it there would have been much more evidence of that before her legs became her playground. The 'sores' on her legs were definitely self inflicted bc skin picking often looks a lot more rounded because of the use of nails she then moved on to tools bc t wasn't serious enough..
People with issues with skin picking actually want to be cured and don't realise they're doing it half of the time.

Much to be gleaned from reading the highlights but since your question has some value I'll bite.

In the past few weeks Kelly's been doing this weird "muh account wuz hacked/I got logged out/it got deleted" despite the old instagram account being there still. Chop talk has been in the loop for a few weeks now, my personal speculation is that she's been gearing up for not being able to post for a while and I'm personally not expecting anything for a while. The update was from her twin sister: Kelly is awake and the op was above the knee but that's all we really got from that update because Gina isn't with Kelly, the only visitor Kelly can have is her roommate which says a lot about her relationship with her family. And Gina specifically said that Kelly asked her to post an update. Both of them are aware of us internet bullies.

No of course she's not dead. Yes, she'll be a bit zonked still post-surgery, she's also suspected to still be septic and that sucks the energy to write out dramatic pity me updates. There was some speculation that she'd be prevented from using her hands because they're concerned about her wrecking her stumps like she did with the skin grafts but a photo showed her hands unrestrained. However a post on a med app from a few weeks back said that there were arrangements in place to prevent her interfering with her own healing but what this might be we can't be 100% sure - likely 1 to 1 supervision for now but I would guess she's too high to get around to that yet. I don't know psych protocol for her locality but some places don't like you using your phone, whether this is in place or not is questionable especially given the in depth discussion on Kelly's eligibility for psychiatric interventions.

In terms of healing she'll have a dressing on the stumps for at least a week, probably much longer to stop her ripping them open, she won't be able to put any pressure on or use a prosthesis for a good while. I imagine she'll like to take a picture once she sees them for the first time.
