General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Bruh what a shitposter she is, I love it.

There's a great number of reasons Nijisanji still hasn't taken off despite their best efforts. Some more fixable than others.

The main one is accessibility on YouTube, though. All of Hololive has on their 'Channels' feed every other member of Hololive in the exact order they joined the company. Subscribing to all 30+ of them in your plight to throw yourself headlong into the rabbit hole takes a matter of seconds, and this is made even simpler by the fact that Hololive have a uniform channel name and it's predominantly in English.

I've honestly subscribed to some Niji members without knowing they were affiliated with the company, never mind what branch, and the prospect of understanding the generations, in-jokes and ongoing bits/stories between members is a daunting task to some.
Yeah the contrast of going between the channels tab for Niji and Hololive is weird. Let's take our most recent JP branch debut Akane Asahina She debuted with Suo Sango, Todo Kohaku, Kitakoji Hisui, and Nishizono Chigusa they together make up the group "Selene Girls School". A common EOP who manages to stumble upon them either through Akane's postings on Reddit or from a random Youtube Clip probably wouldn't really know this because all 5 of them do not link each other in their channels; whereas Hololive's JP branch has all JP-related talents in the channel tab. Now, I generally see on /vt/ (and sometimes /jp/) That due to Nijisanji's amount of Livers instead of (seemingly) being tight-knit like with Hololive, they form cliques. Whether that's just tribalist shit flinging or not I don't really care but it'd be nice to see Nijisanji's first wave of Livers link to each other in their channels or link to people they frequently collab with because that's definitely a factor in getting some EN fans to browse through Nijisanji's talents.
and then make a very obviously corporate decision to have some of them speak English on Reddit before promptly never acknowledging the English language ever again in their streams.
I mean I've seen a few of their livers continue with the EN pandering. Deron had an English-Only Apex Stream a few days ago. Her English is kind of a meme though and now we're brought back to the first point of "Accessibility" because her channel name is entirely in Japanese.
and for the love of God stop reaching out to reaction channels like Koefficient and Izaya's Hub.
Yeah obviously they need to reach out to Trash Taste and have Tsukino Mito on there. :smug:
Akane was pretty much the only one to actually go all-in on that and post there somewhat consistently
Akane has been reaching out to her English fans pretty consistently since her debut early on from what I could gather from /jp/ (and later /vt/). She jumped onto the Reddit train pretty fast to promote herself. I expect her to collab with NijiEN the most out of their JP livers.

When it comes to Niji-EN talent speculation that one vtuber that has openly said they were rejected from Hololive gen1 and how "Nijisanji EN was the backup plan", Yui Shirogane, has DFE'd on her youtube channel and privated her twitter. Interestingly she had a Yakuza theme and people are speculating that Niji-EN will have some sort of Mafia theme (if they decide to do a themed wave).

Gundou Mirei is having a talk stream with an English Speech-to-Text translator in place. It's translations are serviceable is albeit not fantastic, and I've seen a few Indies such as Alicegawa Iwori use a similar tool.

Gundou Mirei has also made her own subtitled clip videos, so maybe this is her attempt (and a comparatively very good one) at making her streams EN-friendly.

I think that's just because Riku's first post regarding this was a Godfather reference. So far (which isn't a lot to go off of), though, he's definitely keeping up a movie theme by continuing with a Fight Club reference. I guess time's gonna tell whether that's gonna be a Niji theme, like Holo's myth theme, or just Riku (or his PR person) doing memes.

Do we know anything at all about what happened to Korone, or is this just some "uwu chat I'm sad" maneuver.

I was just talking about it a bit ago somewhere else. So far there's no concrete info. But in my opinion, the way she explained it, it sounded like an event happened that upset her greatly. So not some ongoing issue. Also seems to have to do explicitly with streaming. Which is still rather vague considering all the things that could have happened.

My guess is either a spat with Okayu, since while she was talking about quitting she mentioned her fans as the reasons to keep going and nothing else. Or something to do with Cover, maybe because she wanted to do something special for her 1.5 million subscriber milestone. Especially considering we know Marine has admitted that she herself got really upset over the fact that they delayed her 1 million subscriber event for so long that they eventually canned it and told her she wasn't allowed to do it.

The latter is far less surprising to me.

They did the same with knocking back an idea for Pekora, too, and just recently Astel made that video essentially saying that he doesn't feel like he deserves the attention he gets and he would give more back if he was allowed.

Maybe they all just have shit managers except for Aqua.

It could be anything though. I remember the frenzy people went into over Pekora thinking someone in her family had passed away and it turned out it was just her manager saying she can't do something.

Male EN you say? Not saying it means shit, but this dude literally popped into my notifications today. I didn't think anything of it until now. Male EN going on permanent hiatus.

Probably nothing but..maybe?
This guy sounds more like he is dying or something. Seems more like a genuine farewell than another step towards a new and exciting opportunity if you ask me, but I hope I am wrong (or at least the guy is fine and just cannot continue to be a vtuber).

hat Riku (or his PR guy) really likes movie references
new rrat: Tatsuki Fujimoto will be the new vtuber and/or there will be a Fire Punch/Chainsaw Man theme

tribalist shit flinging
Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think tribal shitflinging between Hololive fans and Nijisanji fans is a thing among western communities yet (maybe besides /vt/, when it's actually expeted to be happening). If Nijisanji EN will be a success though, this may very well start, like Steam vs Epic. Who knows.

Also regarding Korone's woes: I really hope that it will pass soon and things will return to normal. Her potential graduation, especially over something negative, can be fatal (and not only to some troubled gachikoi who may commit not alive).

PS Ollie seems to be doing fine.

Korone's mom has been ill hasn't she?
The virus has broken out all over Japan and it's only gotten worse in some places so maybe her mother is in a really bad condition.

I think it's patently useless to speculate. It's just as likely her mother is sick as it is she turned to a life of hard drugs after hitting 1mil and is feeling the burnout.

If she's thinking of graduating as a result of it then I can only surmise it's related to her job.

If Fubuki and Korone graduate.. I think that's it for Vtubers for me. The one that got me into the hole and the one who kept in the hole graduating? Nope. Done. Can't take it. People sperg out about Aloe but she her Hololive career was so shortlived. Fubuki's and Korone's career has spans the entire time I've been in the hole which has literally been the time Fubuki debuted. Losing them would be like losing family.

Yes, I'm being retarded. No, I'm not gonna apologize. You can go fuck yourself otherwise.

No one know for certain but the most common narrative is that is relate to her mom that is been sick a couple of times, the only time i remember it affected her schedule was with assassin creed

What the hell was that, lmao

I wonder what exactly it is that Hololive Managers do besides tell their talent "no" over and over. The redundancy of one manager only having 1-3 members too is kind of odd to me, outside of scheduling for in-house stuff usually the only time I hear about them is in instances where they've been told not to do something by their manager (Like Korone sitting up and playing a game for 20 hours straight, or Coco being told not to mention other V-Tubers.)

Tech issues, buying equipment, reaching out for collabs within Hololive and scheduling their own content seems to be done entirely by the talent.

Idk about that chief because one of these is not like the other.
We know she took time off to visit her mom a while back and things are getting worse and worse in Japan.
That makes far more sense than drugs or burnout

I suspect about 99% of the job is making angry calls to youtube that youtube actually has to answer. Them being actually represented by a company with lawers means that some rando JewTube tranny mod can't just ban them without good reason like they do many other content creators. It also means they can't fuck around with the algorithms to where when you type in something like "Gura" you get a Buzzfeed video.

I also kind of suspect that long term, the managers will actually be arranging advertising gigs for them.

We kinda know that managers (although here it could be applied as a more general term - staff) are the ones looking through their streams for NG and copyright sensitive stuff.
Some speculation:
-responsible for business side of things, the true numberfags.
-'enforcing' corporate rules they have and whatever it is in talent's individual contract.
-talking to high brass who actually make decisions on talent's ideas.

Well, it's going to happen one day, but I do not think it's going to be a graduation, more like retirement. If they keep their characters, or if they do something else, then you are set. If they do not continue vtubing, then you better be prepared. But, never say never. You never know which vtuber out there could captivate you.
