General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

I wonder if that puts pressure back on Watson to collab with the family. She shut it down quickly before with Uto, but now she's the odd one out here.
I think she's always expressed interested in collaborating with Nabi, and it's a much safer, more trendy thing to do.

Uto and the other two? Yeaaaah not so much. She's clearly uncomfortable with her association to Uto for whatever reason and wouldn't even adhere to the usual 'tradition' that characters drawn by the same person are 'sisters' and tried to distance herself on some corporeal family tree as much as she could.

I think she would eventually come around to it. Not the collab with Uto, although I would like that personally, but be more open to the whole family thing. I think she did it at the time because she didn’t want retards bothering both her and Uto and flooding their chats at the time with endless collab request as they were both pretty new at the time having debuted around the same time.

/vt/ apparently already figured out the previous identities of the NijiEN members: Maid Mint, Ryusei Nova and Shirogane Yui
While this is probably true, do they have any arguments besides the three vtubers graduating some time ago?

But..how? They've spoken like one line each. Those are all safe guesses due to recent graduations, but I cant see how they have anything concrete yet.

I feel like even HoloEN wasn't as 'safe' as this NijiEN reveal is. HoloEN had an edgy mallgoth rapper who swears, an alcoholic shitposter, and a shrieking toxic gamer. The only safe one in the bunch is probably Ina.

As for the Holo Bass stuff, I really want him to push the envelope because this sort of autistic Japanese IP shit would probably not really stand up in murrican courts. I know he won't though because he values maintaining an amicable relationship with Cover and the talents.

You're definitely right. HoloEN played it a bit less safe but tbh it doesn't really matter all that much. Kiara's whole hodgepodge of being a Phoenix that is also a Kamen Rider that is also wanting to start a fast food restaurant never really jived with me, and Gura being a shark almost immediately took a backseat to Gura being Senzawa.

Calli and Ame actually stick closely on brand with their character by incorporating it into lyrics or surrealist jokes, but it's only 2/5 of them, and tbh 90% of V-Tubers don't really want or stick to their characters anyway, so I'm more forgiving of them looking a little more on the generic side so long as they're actually funny and have good chemistry.

I think it's okay to have some faith regarding this. After all, the first JP gen included what could pretty much be described as generic JKs, and they're still some of the most popular members to this day, with Tsukino Mito being #1 for a long time and only having been dethroned recently.

In general, the debuts themselves probably won't matter in the long run, they feel like they're more for showing off what their character's meant to be; you'd probably have to wait a week or so to get a grip of what they'll actually be like.

an alcoholic shitposter

Eh, she seems to have either kicked the bottle or was playing it up as Senzawa. And she does seem to still be putting effort into running a cleaner show than she used to; we actually got our first "shit fuck" out of her in a loooooong time the other day during her RE8 stream when she got seriously startled, and she promptly apologized for the profanity. Given how everyone else in EN other than Ina swears like sailors, I doubt that's management-directed. She still likes blue and she still has the same taste in music, but there's a big gap between Gura and even late-stage Senzawa.

Guesses because they graduated almost at the same time the auditions of HoloEN 2 and NijiEN 1 ended is mostly conjecture

In general, the debuts themselves probably won't matter in the long run,
They never matter because is mostly a introduction, is almost a meme the "how many days it will take for this one to break character"

Calli and Ame actually stick closely on brand with their character by incorporating it into lyrics or surrealist jokes
From HoloEN almost all of them stick to their character but Amelia was the first that added new things to hers, because in the beggining she was promoted as a normal out of the mill detective until she was clever enough to use the clock on her model to invent that she was actually a time traveler putting her in the power ranks of her mates

So I like to think I have a golden ear for these things (though the reality is I'm probably just a retard) and I really do think that Maid Mint and Pomu Rainpuff are the same person.

Given that Elira Pendora introduced herself in Japanese and her overall pitch is much lower and softer, I'd be inclined to say that it's Ryusei Nova, but her delivery of the line 'Love at first light' sounds like it's being acted out in an anime dub, so it's difficult to tell until she's speaking naturally which, by that point, will be quite obvious.

Don't know what the fuck a Shirogane Yui is.

Back to Holo Bass case. I've finally watch his video. Here is may take:

He has assumption that live stream is not owned by Cover. One of his argument is the sentence about "speech generation" in the music section. He argued that because Cover mention the prohibition of speech generation only in the music section, implied that Cover doesn't own live stream. His argument on this specific matter doesn't make sense. I can't think of any reason why people will think that Cover doesn't own live streams.

I think the vagueness of the guidelines still make sense. It give so much power to Cover and so much uncertainty for fans, but still make sense.

Now, is there any insight about Spotify's terms & conditions?

I have no clue who these vtubers are, but here are some clips I found on Youtube. They seem to be small timers so there aren't much available after they deleted everything from their channels. Bookmarking for myself so I can compare voices like a creep when I get home.

Maid Mint

Ryusei Nova
Edit: Flipping through her debut stream she mentions Tagalog and her Japanese being weird so I'm assuming she is Pilipino.

They've done it. They've only gone and done it.
THEY'RE HERE
the angel would get a gun before the gremlin.
Did you not notice Amelia got strapped with her new outfit?

Assuming they are both among NijiEN, it at least bodes very well for their chemistry off the bat. I only speak for myself here, but I'm okay with twitch meme humour from the start of its between people who already know one another.

For reference, Nova and Mint collaborated a lot - even once or twice with the likes of Pikamee - and we're good friends. Coincidentally, Elira and Pomu just so happen to be the two bantering and memeing with one another on the TL as if they've known each other for at least like 9 months or something.

V-tuber Indie Alicegawa Iwori vents her frustrations at the behaviour of the overseas fans since her channel exploded thanks to the shout-out of a Hololive clipper (at the behest of a well-meaning viewer).

Normally I'd pass it off as 'fhe way Western v-tuber fans treat their new toys' in the way they mass subscribe and then lose interest over time, but certain things she's mentioned seem to be outright maliciousness and retarded behaviour.

For those who don't know, Alice is extremely hard-working and subtitles her own content into English despite not being fluent. As an indie who can only consider this a hobby, that's a lot of work. I do think she's made a mistake expecting new people to constantly promote her everywhere, mind you, but the diminishing attention of the western fans who flocked to them is something that has driven other Indies to retirement in the past.
So she's mad that she got a ton of views because of clippers but now that she hasnt done anything worth clipping the people abandoned her? Tough shit. That's how things work.

Thats completely wrong. All content creators that rely on someone else's IP to make their own content are at the mercy of the owners of the rights. The burden of proof you need to even qualify for the Fair Use defense is incredibly high and monetization is often disqualifying, even if your work counts as transformative.

The mayor difference, more than actual laws or strictness of it, is the culture. Murican, or western, really, companies are often willing to let shit slide and even encourage fan work. If a company doesn't want you making money from their IP, you are pretty fucked.

About time that Gura and Amelia did something together again, it's been months excluding full EN collabs. Gura's great but either she or Cover is almost paralyzed with fear that anything she does differently to what she's been doing will curtail her success. So all we get is gaming streams with her small head in the corner.
