Why is it that the live action fanworks are good, but most of the animated stuff looks like this?

He does look like he could be a middle aged Shaner.

Also Iron Horse has put so much effort into their FNAF films, it's crazy but admirable at the same time.

The big thing I got out of that was that the writer for that fanmovie shat out the script. Mainly because he just plugged the elements of a horror movie: Sex scene at the beginning, fake scare, false "where da monster" moment, real scare, and showing off the monster too early, all in the opening. I did dig the commercial they chucked in though; that felt like a real commercial and had charm. The later elements were done better, but again, it's a very mechanical feeling movie. Also I don't get the obsession all the characters had with that one storage crate. Also, the fact that the guard could not open the door is a pretty ugly plothole.

It does have actual effort though, and some of the supporting elements are actually pretty nice.

Half of FNAF "animation" is SFM stuff because robots are hard to draw I guess

The other half is "I don't want to draw my shit waifus ugly". Even though they are designed to be ugly and decrepit and full of rotting flesh. Honestly my favorite thing in this series that's fan made has been these two vids:

FNAF fandom is all fuckin' 12 year olds who never heard of Night Trap or Showbiz Pizza, fuckin' poseurs, go back to doing your homework.

I like the games, or at least the first one (the only one I own, admittedly), just fine. Simple, goofy point-and-click survival game with broken-down pizzeria animatronics that are 2spooky. I dig that, particularly as an enthusiast of animatronics and haunted house attractions filled with jumpscares. The fandom I've largely steered clear of aside from some well-done fanart stuff. Not sure why this game attracts so many people who haven't hit puberty yet.

But enough on my opinion because that shit is gay and lame, let's focus on the horrible fandom!

Well, there was a brief bout of drama in the Tumblr fandom a while back concerning Scott Cawthon's pre-FNAF The Desolate Hope, and it's pro-life message. Cawthon, when asked about it, waffled a bit, saying the game wasn't necessarily pro-life, and that it was inspired by a friend of his having a miscarriage of a child she had wanted and her grief. Tumblr SJWs, predictably, flipped their shit and demanded a boycott of his games for being an anti-choice shitlord.

As far as I can recall, it just kind of fizzled out because people don't really care that much, but I remember seeing this shit all over my dash.

Also, all this discussion of redeeming stuff in the fandom and nobody has brought up phillip-bankss' art. For shame.

Easy: Markiplier/Pewdiepie played the first game. That's how children flooded the fandom.

Not surprising that Tumblr yo-yoed when they started to like FNAF. I'm still laughing at them since Scott would completely disagree with their stupidity though.

Literally it's "FUCK YOU STUPID FUNDIE - OMG THIS GAEM I NEVER PLAYED IS THE BEST I'M ONE OF THE CHARS NOW I LUV YOU SCOTT! UWU"

This was my favorite one of the few I skimmed at (to give an example)

Phillip Bankss brings up a good point about the FNAF fandom:

no, there’s no reason to be annoyed with fnaf

they’re fine games. the first one seems almost classic looking back on it, two had its flaws, and three.. well, i didn’t play three. but i’m sure it was alright.

if there’s anything to be annoyed about five nights at freddy’s, it’s the fanbase, obviously

i’ve said it before, but i’ll say it again. the fandom is godawful, sort of like mlp’s fanbase, but not on such a large scale.

not to say i haven’t had good experiences within the fandom, even though i’ve never considered myself “in” the fandom, i’ve met a lot of nice people and made a lot of friends

buuuuut looking back, it’s just one of those phases, like people who have their weeaboo or sonic phases

it’s embarrassing, but hey, it wasn’t all for naught

i did learn how to draw hat brims a lot better

I hope FNAF is just an embarrassing teenager phase like we all have probably had for some sort of media we have clung onto at some point. The spergy youth eventually grows out of Inuyasha, or Twilight, or FNAF, and later goes on to be more socially appropriate, or better artists. A decent member of society.

...Or if they don't, they will become an A-grade lolcow, and we will laugh at them through a thread on these forums. Everyone wins. :D

On one hand, I've seen a few works made by fans that I like.

Smashingrenders has made some excellent 3d models.

And there was this.

On the other hand, there are people on dA who believe they are the animatronics. They're a whole new level of crazy.

This guy in particular thinks he's Chica.

I remember that guy. I think he posted in /fn@fg/ back when there was only one game and people there didn't use the phrase "fandom shaming".

Fandoms are just like high school, except everything's there forever. Thanks god my early teenage sperging was confined to dead message boards and Gaia Online.

I was gonna make a joke about how they deserve to be shamed for fapping to psychopathic child murderers and dead kids stuffed into decaying killer animatronics. Then I googled the phrase to see just what it entails and apparently someone disagreeing with your tastes in culture = being shamed for your fandom. So someone disagreed with them being into a jumpscare game about a haunted Chuck E. Cheese and some :tumblr:s decided it's "fandom shaming".

I'm actually leaning for the Puppet as my favorite character for the context of what it actually does in the series - which is finding peace for the restless child spirits and ultimately stopping(?) Purple Guy's killing spree; which ties in nicely to the real reason I actually like the puppet - to spite those Purple Guy/Springtrap fantards.

There's even FNAF "MikuMikuDance" videos - now the internets can witness hideous animal mascots dancing to Vocaloid songs.

The MMD community is incredibly autistic in it's own right, but I decided to look a bit into the FNAF side of it and, while it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, it's still awful.

I went on DeviantArt and noticed that a lot of the FNAF models have rules that prohibit R-18 shit (at least the Human!FNAF's do), which is kind of telling, usually modelers are more worried about making it clear on whether or not the models can be edited/redistributed, but it is included some times, I've seen it mostly on the more innocent models.

I also found this Human!Fnaf modeler, they hate hetero people and took down their links because of it.

What gets me about the FNAF fandom is that much of it is comprised of hardcore tumblrinas. A bit shocking considering it was made by a Texan Christian fundamentalist (who, truth be told, seems like a genuinely nice guy), but I guess tumblrinas live and die by their hypocrisy. The twelve-year-olds are just in it for the 2spooky factor, and I can't imagine PewDiePie pasting his big dumb face over it has helped matters. The fanbase as a whole is just insufferable. I say this like I don't unironically enjoy the first game. Blah blah, we're here to laugh at them.
