I think the reason half of these people celebrate the decanonization of years of material is that it relieves them of the responsibility of being knowledgeable about the franchise they're trying to get into. They don't have to concern themselves with all that stuffy "lore" and "continuity", and partake in the spectacle at a base, vapid level. It allows them to be part of the conversation without being informed or well-versed on the subject...like how suddenly normies who wouldn't touch a Marvel comic can now sperg about "how hawt the Winter Soldier is."That and the continuity will be just as fucked for the sake of going back to square one... Just like with SW... Oh joy...
And they're already bragging about wiping the slate/canon clean like when Disney did the same with SW because that just did wonders for them...![]()

Regarding all the Indy lore being potentially bulldozed...my question is why? Most of it is standalone adventures that can easily be written around, and be included solely through the odd reference. That's the benefit of Indy's pulp roots, is that having monster-of-the-week scenarios frees you of being strictly bound to continuity.
There's literally no reason to do it outside of hubris. The self-assured notion that "we can do better." And I guarantee you, they can't and they won't. I won't lie and act like all the Indy comics and novels were worth reading (in all honesty, the consistency of quality never came anywhere close to something like the Star Wars EU), but you can bet that we won't have Indy adventures as good as Fate of Atlantis or Thunder of the Orient or Emperor's Tomb. Marvel has proven with Star Wars, and is currently proving with Alien, that they destroy any IP they touch. Del Rey has shown the kind of talentless assholes they contract to pinch out books, and MachineGames has already ran Wolfenstein in to the ground with their creative ineptitude. I have zero hope that they're erasing the previous lore in the pursuit of better stories.
But the biggest insult will be if they decanonize the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. That wasn't the one-off license nonsense peddled by a no-name author...that came from George Lucas himself. He created genuinely good character history for Indy, his parents, his schoolmates and historical idols, and even used it as a vehicle to tackle historical topics that were fascinating to Lucas personally. And he did it without the crutch of anyone like Spielberg, proving yet again that Lucas had talent to offer in a post-OT world, despite what many may claim.
I will be legit pissed if that's removed from canon, just so the soyboys at Disney can rewrite Indiana's history to their liking. Fuck that.
