Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

You want a real successor to Star Wars?
Yeah yeah, "fuck off weeb!", I hear you saying. Look past it being anime, Legend of the Galactic Heroes is Star Wars for adults. I pray to Odin every night that pedowood never finds out about it and remakes it into some woke bullshit.
LotGH is great but damn it is consistently and utterly retarded when it comes to space combat. Have read a lot of real life military history which makes LotGH particularly painful to watch when the series switches from political slice of life to action.

Well, Galactic Heroes is technically getting remade as we speak with Die Neue These and its upcoming follow-up, and everything of that looks pretty good from what I've seen of it.

And while we're throwing out anime space opera recommendations, my usual go-to's are still the same:

Super Dimension Fortress Macross...

...and Space Battleship Yamato (particularly its recent 2199 remake)

I don't have any personal boomer nostalgia for either of these series, btw. I'm in the exact age bracket of people that the ST is designed to pander to (in theory, anyway), and I found/got into both of these gems in my search for good sci-fi after my bitter Star Wars break-up following TFA.

I love Galactic Heroes and mentioned a hundred pages back as a great example of the philosophical doctrine laid in the Prequels being genuinely explored. The remake is amazing with a great soundtrack.

That said, you both lose points for be a bad weeb stereotype recommending anime unsolicited. Next you'll say we all need to watch Berserk. :cryblood:

I agree with Mantoid that it's too contemporary with Star Wars, though drawing inspiration from it as nearly all SciFi tends to. That plus its animated and therefore will never have the impact that a live action series will have.

The best thing I can tell young peeps like you Miss is this, SciFi goes through spurts. It was damn dark in 1969-76. Star Trek, The Twilight Zone, and Lost in Space were all dead. Dune was in development hell. For a time the only legit Sci Fi was Doctor fucking Who.

Then Star Wars hit and it was a resurgence. 77-89 was a gold mine. Alien, Blade Runner, even Star Trek came back . And there was Star Wars, leading the charge.

Even after the initial gold rush ended we've lived in an amazing period from 1977 to 2008. There have been worse times for SciFi and doubtless I don't know we're out of the woods, but eventually Hollywood well have to pull its head out. .

Due to very recent developments the Macross franchise in its entirety should be coming to the U.S.A. as Sony strong armed Studio Nue and Tatsunoko &Harmony Gold (Robotech) into playing nice with each other. Sony for reasons wants to do a live-action Robotech movie and can't do it until that legal shitshow is over.

I will say this much watching Leiji Matsumoto and Go Nagai being locked in a 40 plus year long pissing match over who can do nanometer thin skin tight bodysuits better have been a net plus for science fiction.

I heard about that. Personally, distribution of the original media is a bit of a secondary goal for me, largely because I acquired the Blu-Rays for the shows and movies I want (thanks to the magic of repro sellers). My excitement comes from the possibility of being able to buy the model Valkyries without selling my organs in foreign shipping fees, and the English translation of future video games.

That's honestly all I need to be happy at this point.

...indeed.

It was Cad Bane, who one shots Hunter, stuns Omega and takes her back to Kamino. Which probably means Bane is going to show up in Book of Fette since this now DE canonizes the unreleased clone wars arc of Boba killing him

Also, this show continues to talk about Crosshair like the chip doesn't exist while also reminding us that he has no choice in this. Constantly questioning if Crosshair would do this in one breath before going "It's not your fault, the inhibitor chip is making you do this!" in the next.

I'm surprised the Bad Batch didn't set a trap to kidnap him and forcibly remove the chip. If it were me, I'd lure Crosshair into a trap in a downed Republic cruiser so we can kidnap him and use the cruiser's med facilities to remove his chip. We get one guy, the Imps get zilch.

Still dont know why the bad batch is a "special unit" instead of being called a commando squad. they use the same equipment and have a similar story to the Imperial commando novels at this point. Minus the Mandalorian culture.

They're a special unit due to their mutations and special tactics. They don't fight like other Clone Commando squads. You send in Delta Squad when you have a battle plan with odds calculated to the fourth decimal point and you want it done right. You send in Clone Force 99 when you want everyone dead and you're willing to not ask questions.

The Mandalorian culture in the Republic/Imperial Commando novels make me bored. None of the flair of the old KOTOR Mandalorians who mass-genocide people at the drop of a hat and make Grand Moff Tarkin look like Padme Amidala by comparison.

To be fair it was a few thousand years between KOTOR's neo crusaders and the Modern "True" Mandalorians like Jaster Mereel and Jango Fett. Not the boring Pacifists you are referencing.

They were basically stomped to dust, scattered, and demoralized in terms of military strength after they lost the Mandalorian wars at the hands of Revan with the odd well armed and organized group like the death watch showing up every while.

Death watch was the only thing even close to Canderous's attempts to unify the clans in the timespan the films cover.
They were not destroyed and fucked off to Endor at some point after the clone wars. At least According to SWG.

(but most fan servers are too autistic to add in the prequel gear like boba fett styled mandalorian armor and have this retarded Idea that more armor sets and locations that happened to be added in after a certain point in SWG's lifespan = "OMG NUUUUU YER ADDING IN DAH COMBAT UPGRAHDES AND OVERHAULING HOW THE GAME WERKS ON A FUNDAMENTAL LEVEL!" from a bunch of retarded faggots who have no fucking idea about game development or how shit actually works.)

Even with their mutations, they don't ever feel like a special unit, just clones with a gimmick.

Also to anyone else who actually played Republic commando, Delta squad took out more droids and trando mercs (yes the multiple types of infinitely spawning droid despensers count) and even single handedly repelled boarding parties from a Lucrehulk in multiple hangars on an Acclamator , eventually driving off the coreship with only 2 Acclamators. They also destroyed a recusant destroyer with only 4 AA turrets at Kachiro and other actions that top Bad batch.

Not to mention the small army of super dwarf spider droids and anime tier magna guards they basically beat in a 2v4 getting to all 4 turrets.

(Republic commando's portrayal of magna guards do a ton of somersaults and crawling on walls and had mortars that slid out from their shoulder pads and shit if you got too far away. its rare to trigger in actual gameplay along with the SBD's plasma shield when throwing a thermal det in front of them you would probably only know exists from their vidocs.)

All BB did was maybe throw around a few AAT's and tripped a couple B1 platoons with disney plot armor. They are basically clone commandos but calling them that is "raycist" apparently according to troons.

You send in Clone Force 99 when you want everyone dead and you're willing to not ask questions defective clones that mess up and need to be saved all the time by their super lucky plot armored kid sister or a convenient plot device.
FTFY

Based on some shitty interview, Book of Boba Fett is implied to be some sort of prequel telling Jango's life between ROTJ and Mando with some parts taking place in the present which not be based on any of pre-existing survival tales on Tatooine. I'm sure Filoni will try and come up with some bullshit explanation about why he waited a decade to get his armor back while forcing in cameos out the wazoo again since Mando Season 2 proved that Filoni has more creative control than Favreau now, which is a shame since Favreau was the only reason Mando was even entertaining.

Its just another example of the writing inconsistencies in this shit. They want to keep the whole chip bullshit because "muh clone OCs did nothing wrong" but they want to also write Crosshair like a pre-chip retcon clone and have him be the coldhearted traitor that faithfully believes in his military duty.
Wouldn't Cal Kestis be 14 or 15 at the time of The Bad Batch since it opens with Order 66?
Or that they wouldn't contradict previous media.

Since he wasn't on the Empire's radar until he had to use his powers five years later.
>implying Filoni cares about consistency
He and his writers can have the kid be there looking the same age as he did in FO. As per Porgcuck, continuity don't matter anymore, and the last few episodes have shown that. I mean hell they didn't give enough of a shit to keep Cad Bane's original death because they wanted to milk him for cameo wank. And it seems that the Dianoga from the last episode may be the same one from ANH since ever media article refers to it as "The Death Star's Dianoga" and when you look at the scene, the stupid thing doesn't even really hurt the big dumb clone, he just pulls him under a few times but never actually hurts him, so they'll probably reveal that the damn thing was baptizing him too.
Even with their mutations, they don't ever feel like a special unit, just clones with a gimmick.
Exactly. The big one could just be a clone who spent more time exercising, the smart one looks like he could just have a shitty diet and studied more, the cyborg one is just a cyborg, the leader looks no different than any other clone, and the evil one just looks like he's older and eats less than the rest. So the only one that feels like a genetic alteration/mutation is the girl.

Anyway, /sw/anons have made a critique/summary of the episode with clips of the dumbest moments if anyone's interested:
The good guys also defeat their evil brother and his team and yet they don't even bother to take him and remove his chip I guess.
Bad Batch Anon said:
Hunter and Omega get to the ship first, they know something is wrong since the Clone Troopers are all dead, so instead of regrouping with everyone he goes in the fucking open to check on the dead and surprise is that bounty hunter from the clone wars! The soy filled normalfags will get orgasms at the sight. Omega says "That's a bounty hunter" Jesus H. Christ who writes this shit? It can't be Lucas, since he no longer gives a fuck about Star Wars. Bane walks against Hunter and Omega, as he boasts about killing clones left and right, Oh he in for a surprise! Hunter is not a regular clone! He is a special clone! Is hunter outclass? Maybe, maybe not, but he is definitively not outgun, since he has Omega. EH?! Where are you going Omega? Use your fucking energy bow and land a lucky shot like you always do! Don't let Hunter get in a fucking cowboy fight against that filthy xenon! And Hunter loses... surprising no one. Well, this episode was retarded, all this could have been avoided, but nooo think about the credits they owe to that filthy xenon slaver! Hell, they don't even have any armament to sell, they only have the shitty computer data that could be of value, odds are for the Terrorists or something. Also what is up with the helmets not protecting them from smoke or not having fucking night vision? Yeah, the flashlights on the guns are cool and all but why?! The only good thing about this whole shit was when Omega was training with Wrecker and helping Tech, something that should be in every episode to show growth. The banter between the special clones is also nice, but I guess to much banter would be toxic masculinity, Oh Vey! We can't have that! Oh well, see you next friday, fags.
