Depends on your cultural background I think.

Historically, a stepfather has been seen as a social good, taking on a very difficult role to get right, for child(ren) you have no genetic obligation to.

Grounded in that it is a very noble role, especially if you don't have any prospect of having more kids with the mother, you are saying, my genetic line ends here, but I will make these children my legacy.

Conversely, in Modern city/suburban Muttville, where you can't swing a cat without hitting 5 bastard children with fathers who noped out early, is it any shock that taking on that kind of role is seen as weak. There is no responsibility to nurture for you legacy, and yet you don't perform your most basic lizard brain genetic function, and instead go and nurture someone else's flower bed.

I see it not as being a cuck but more of being a good parent to your child.

It takes a strong and intelligent person to get good qualifications required for decent employment, whilst building work experience when you have a child. I would say that Faith just doesn't have it in her, most single parents struggle to get their shit together.

Mr Vickers knows that Faith needs to get life experience and an income so that she can support herself. He knows you can't rely on the Gunt for anything except to sperg out.

Hi Gator! It was actually me who asked Chris to make a video giving Xander advice. I figured he could offer a unique perspective to someone whose life is being extensively documented. I also requested that Chris draw a picture of an obese father and son, and that he mail it to Ralph’s P.O. Box.
If you’re concerned about the baby’s name being out in the world, blame Faith.
I hope Ralph likes the drawing, it’s the closest thing he’s ever going to get to a picture of him and Xander.

A lot of the ribbing towards stepfathers online have often just been jokes for the sake of jokes. Nobody genuinely thinks being a stepfather is a dishonorable thing. Somebody like Sargon took his blows over it because everyone knew it would wind him up. Plus he liked calling everyone else a cuck.

The reason why Matt took so much shit is because the circumstances aren't the same as a normal stepfather. His girlfriend had her daughters while with him, meaning that she openly cheated on him and that he knew about it. You can tell he genuinely doesn't care about his family, and that he only stays in the relationship because he doesn't want to take care himself. Plus you have the fact that to this day he still tries to pretend that her daughters are his, despite the fact that in that audio he blatantly said they weren't.

Matt's situation is very pathetic and humiliating no matter how you slice it. Your girlfriend cheats on you, you're still in the relationship out of sheer survival and you admit to all the humiliating details in a recorded conversation. You have to laugh at him considering just how much terrible shit he has done.
