The Shin Megami Tensei/Persona Thread

You'd think the sequels like DAN, Arena, Strikers and The Answer that dont address that would set them off
The trick is that those are all set relatively shortly after the main games so they can convince themselves that "X and Y" are still together, it just happens off screen and wasn't important to the plot. Where you would have a sticking point is if they did something like bringing back a bunch of P4 characters aged up 6 years to meet the P5 characters. Then you would have endless bitching about why their waifu isn't married to the protagonist and so on. I presume that's why the Persona Q spinoffs all relied on some time travel BS and wiping everyone's memories.

new attack in this one...strength based light attack 'white dragon strike' according to someone who's been translating the videos in the comments

Beat Apocalypse last night. Last boss was tough.

What is people's problem with this game? I always see them ripping on the story. Is it because it's not as bleak as the others and it gets a little "friendship is magic" at times?

yes. but i give Apocalypse some slack since it allows you to go full opposite. i think only Apocalypse and nocturn in the series made me feel like a badass for going full edgelord.

I honestly think there is a subset of megaten fans who overcompensate their hatred of persona to that extent out of some bizarre obsession

For me, the friends annoyed me a bit, mainly Nozomi. Bitch is queen of the fairies but me hanging with Dagda is a problem i need to be shot for

As far as the story goes, it manages to feel like a fanfiction of SMT4. Asahi's dialogue is to be a bratty fangirl in a world that, until recently, was run by yakuza and demons. The hunter's life was never glamorous or heroic, but she seems to think that it is even though Flynn showed up like a few months ago and only became the #1 hunter late into his excursion. Presumably, a hunter cadet was one for years before the beginning of the game. So, she really sticks out like a sore thumb in this depressing world.

Abe also isn't a very good character given the context of IV. In IV, Tayama died at the perpetual reactor and the Ashura Kai fell apart without him. Then Abe somehow brought them back together into a cohesive fighting force? Yeah, I know he's a demon, but they still don't have red pills, so why would mobsters still belong to this organization when it's explicitly stated that Flynn broke them up? They're not the Ring of Gaia and operate on economic terms. He exists so that we can have an Ashura Kai faction in the game.

I think a prequel to IV would have worked better than a sequel where we see how the Counter Demon Force failed and the three endings be Blasted Tokyo, Burning Tokyo, and Ceiling Tokyo.

SMT3 HD is already 30% off in the Switch eShop. That bad, huh?
Its an Atlus game on multiple platforms and it seems like 3 was built/released to generate hype for 5. An almost 20 year old game with touched up HD graphics that did not have a major 'western' following.

>the next demon is Ongyoki

BASED. Easily one of my favourite demons next to Shiki Ouji.

Calling it now, one of the secrets in the acrylic stand is a remake of P3 that combines all the content between FES and P3P, while the other is P6. Also, i hope most of the announcements aren't weak shit like merch or clothes, even if that's most certainly the case.
