This is true, but she led the mob. She made the accusations. And coming from The Zoe Quinn, doubting her would immediately make you an evil alt-right chud manbaby GamerGater. She may be too toxic for employment by anyone other than the lowest of the low, but sure as sunshine, the moment her name, or Anita's, comes up, no matter what they say, any criticism is immediately declared null and void by that one chunk of the population that thinks GamerGate led to Trump.
They can be factually wrong, like Anita bitching about The Mandalorian. There can be, like in the case of Quinn, months worth of tweets, podcast appearances, videos and other commentary from the time in question that directly contradicts what she accused Alec of doing, all carefully recorded in this very thread. But if you're part of that leftist space - whether it be involved with games, journalism, comics, writing, definitely any form of slacktivism - none of that is relevant, because you have to believe Zoe in public, and to do otherwise is social suicide and will severely hamper your career.
I do think people forget how much the mob, and especially the weasels who worked with him on Night In the Woods who couldn't wait to dump him from their source of income and say how much of a monster he was, are more responsible in the end. People also forget that this was after a few hours of other men in indie gaming, including her ex, Alex Lifschitz, getting metoo'd, with what seemed an intentionally coordinated attack on numerous men that the women involved wanted to eject from the profession - a process that was unceremoniously swept under the rug when Alec killed himself.
But at the end of the day it was Zoe who made up the lies (and it was undoubtedly mostly if not entirely lies, exaggerations and one-sided retellings to paint her as the eternal victim) that led the mob. I think there's a few more people who should have 'OK, murderer' follow them around for the rest of their lives along with Zoe, but she's very, very deserving of having his suicide permanently associated with her.
Plus, you'd think she'd be proud. She told numerous people, including her softcore porn photographer, that she stabbed/murdered a man who tried to rape her. Driving the man who abused her to suicide would, you think, be a badge of honour if that's the kind of person you are, or pretending to be.
