Harem anime's are defiantly one of my favorite's to watch when I'm bored and just want to vege out with my eyes zombified on some screen.

One I finished not too long ago was Noucome.

It's about how this MC gets random events in his mental life that force him to decide between only a few options- and these options are usually very perverted or just absolutely outrageous. Then some blond haired ditz comes along and then MC starts getting new options to pick that seem a bit more 'normal' except now has to go through a bunch of challenges to break his little curse.

Two things out of this whole show that made me laugh;
This specific out of context screen cap.

And this Fate/Stay night reference.

This is one I'd recommend watching you have time to kill. You'll probably get a chuckle out of it.

I'm enjoying Hamefura/My next life as a villainess this season. I'm not into male lead harems but even with female lead harems I don't always watch them cause it annoys me how often the MC has the personality of cardboard (Such as in Uta no prince sama. Honestly, after the first few seasons she may as well not be there.) but Katarina is a funny dork who actively tries to avoid her own doom and takes control of her situation. Though, on the romance aspect it does follow the harem cliche of the MC being very dense cause she genuinely has no clue that the 3 guys and 2 women who orbit her are aggressively vying for her affection.

Also, Akatsuki no Yona is awesome and I wish they'd make more seasons.

Noucome is great. Though it's more of a comedy than romantic harem.

Imagine going to the pool and your only choice of swimsuit are either 'smallest in human history', a loincloth or full nude.

I enjoyed the bakarina one up until the 3rd volume too. But dense protagonist and status quo could only be interesting for so long.

Noucome was a really funny show; one of my favorites when it came out. It's definitely one of the more unusual concepts for a harem series I've seen. It's also a pretty breezy series, so it's great if you want something easy to watch.

NouCome was one of my pleasant surprises when it aired, I was watching it out of boredom and because it was going to be short, and I was just about dying every episode. I didn't really see it as a harem but more of a parody of dating sims that just happens to kinda have a harem because, well, you can't help but get a harem after your dick in a dating sim where girls are vying for your affection despite the... quirkiness you get up to. Also God thinks it's hilarious to watch you squirm, so there's that, too.

I thought it went under some people's radars, though, but looks like it's been picking up an audience. That's great, really.

There was this one magical school harem anime where magic worked on the rules of “people have a stock number of magic they can cast, and if you use all of them, you essentially Thanos yourself”. It wasn’t a problem for most people because they had like hundreds of thousands of uses, but the main character only had like 9 spells tops, so he was essentially the butt monkey of the school. Except said 9 magic uses were also infinitely times more powerful and potent than any other magic, to the point that he could warp the rules of nature/space/time with just one. The majority of the harem was because magical families wanted his baby juice so the kids would have lots of magic but more powerful.

It was a run of the mill comedy harem anime though, so they didn’t have any cool anime battles or anything.
Maburaho. That’s the name of the anime I was thinking of. Sorry, it just finally hit me.

This genre is unironically my favorite anime genre along with romcom anime in general. It is kinda sad to see harems have mostly died off.

I saw some discussion of Zero no Tsukaima which is one of the first non-Pokemon/DBZ anime that I watched so it has special place in my heart. I was pretty sad when I heard the author passed away. Spoiler for the end of the last season: I always wanted an additional OVA of Louise and Saito exploring Japan and meeting his parents. Imagine your son being gone for a year and coming back home with a Wife

Most recently I watched BokuBen and 5hanayome, I liked them both and it's entry into what seems to be the emerging genre of "Poor Kid tutors girls who fall in love with him"/ "Poor Kid MC works hard to be with rich people" that has been emerging as of late. While both are good and I enjoyed them, they don't fell quite the same as older shows.

I recently watched Monster Musume for the first time which I liked more than I thought I would, though if they don't do the harem ending it is clear to me who is going to end up with him in the end.

High School DxD is a massive guilty pleasure for me and I am 100% invested in the actual plot and relations between the 3 main factions.

I have seen so many of these types of show it is hard to pick just one favorite so I will just pick one that stands out in my mind which hasn't been mentioned.

Hand Maid May it is harem show that came out in the Summer of 2000 and it shows it's age.the plot is this guy Kazuya is an electrical engineering student who likes computers and has been making this octopus robot with some artificial intelligence in his free time. One day he gets this CD-ROM from a childhood friend and self declared rival (his friend declares it not the MC) Kotaro Nanbara (who can be very annoying) which contains a computer virus. This virus asks him for his personal info which he happily puts in and immediately a hand sized cyberdoll from Cyberdyne co named May who is dressed as a maid (and is charged via a USB attached somewhere to her lower half. she can eat and drink as well as have sex [yes they mentioned that] so maybe it is like a tail) . Kazuya being a poor college student can't actually pay for her so over the next few episodes (until around episode 6 or 7) deals with them trying to not get her repossessed.

At the start of the series the land lady's daughter is already in love with him. May fall in love with him as well as two (maybe three that last one is kinda unlear since she kinda has thing with Kotaro Nanbara) of the Cyberdolls the company sends to repo May. One a little girl (I thin she is supposed to be 7) and the other a blue haired science girl.

It is kinda like is Chobits was a Harem and didn't have the whole serious romance plot.
I looked all through this thread and found only one post on High School DxD and was disappointed its one of the best animes of all time and it just gets completely ignored in this thread! Thanks for mentioning it, it is the best of the genre and the best of anime. Harem animes are so great because they show us a world where we didnt live under fake and gay morality that pushed monogamy on us, when having a harem of girls is a chad move. Anime in general is great, but this genre gets to explore so many areas that other animes wont risk that it puts it on top. High School DxD takes this further and adds the fallen angels and demons which is fucking amazing. Following the plot between the factions, the great characters, and the risks this anime takes makes it art. I dont want to spoil it anyone here who has not watched it. PLEASE WATCH IT.
