I have no idea if it's the older or the "newer" Nerd room but it looks cramped. If this is actually the set they constructed in his garage, then they really fucked up, because it looks like a very unpractical environment to work in.
It's the newer one since the teleprompter shows his script for his video about The Song Remains The Same.

If it's the same set he's using in this video interview from 2020, then I'm not convinced it's a set at all: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6gC8uTGjQI

Are we really sure he's not still using the same Nerd room, the one from 2016/2017? The YKWB episode from 2020 about his old drawer seems to have been filmed in the same older room: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6XvCWLzDCg
Maybe he's only using his garage set for the videos involving the use of a green screen?

I'd imagine that'd be the case

I don't see the reason why someone would recreate the nerd room in its entirety with all the games and electronics to organize unless they were really dedicated in doing so.

Not a bad recording setup tbh

Especially if he's only going to show the one same wall in all of the videos anyway.
Some of the newer Nerd episodes do show the room in different angles. It does look a little small, but I think it might have to do with the new TV taking up a portion of a wall in the Nerd room, not to mention what others changes were made to the room because of it.

James is a case study of burn out and depression. Sadly, Cinemassacre is a train wreck that will happen, and I wait for it.
You can tell his acting and passion are absolutely gone. He still does an admirable job pretending like he cares, but it shows.

That said, I still like most episodes that he doesn't experiment with too much.

I know, its so goddamn depressing that its part of the reason I unsubscribed despite being subscribed since 2007

same but for his non avgn content
I purposefully avoid the stuff I don't like so that his algorithm lets him know we don't want his burnout fuelled mid-life crisis rock band, just AVGN mostly. I think he's probably cool as a person and would support any endeavor of his if I knew him personally, but at the end of the day we're not friends and I just want AVGN.

I would be more open to his mid-life crisis band if it were actually original songs. all of the songs james has done so far are bad at worse, and decent at best covers of 80s songs with some song from a game that he has reviewed as AVGN mixed in half way though. Clearly people are getting turned away by this content, and the other crap the slobs and james put out. Hell, his sega game gear VHS tapes episode still has not gotten 1 million views even a month later. I have never seen that with AVGN.

Not just that, The Carmagedon 64 AVGN review hasn't even gotten 800K views yet in almost 3 weeks. Cinemassacre is just going downhill.

yep. I never thought I would be saying this. Just for the hell of it I decided to check out Irate gamer just to see if he was still around. I never thought I would say this, but Chris is somehow putting more effort into his show then James is. I would even go so far as to say I liked his latest video more then the recent episodes of AVGN. Really sad its gotten to that point.

Disagree with bold, but the best case for new AVGN videos, if they're unable to reach 1M views, the goal post should be adjusted to 500K as a indicator of how well these new episodes are going. That's just my opinion though.

Anyway:
We get a New AVGN tomorrow, and The Podcast starts in two weeks, https://www.youtube.com/post/UgyeT1JoNBmlzYbh_h54AaABCQ

The next episode is on a Pac-Man game, right? Why would you need a behind-the-scenes look at a Pac-Man episode? unless if its going to be filled with skits, god help us.

If only they got more likeable cast members for that podcast. I never liked Mike but at least he and James could banter well. These fat guys bring nothing to the table but their girth.

Hopefully he gets some guests once in a while.

James and Mike together are occasionally funny. Mike and Tony were also occasionally funny. Kieran and Justin however couldn't find comedy if it knocked on their collective doors.
