Tumblr hates it when characters are actually trans; they love forcing their "headcanons" onto cis characters and getting offended when somebody dares to insinuate otherwise. Actual trans characters means that they have nothing to play with - no stupid labels ("Shona's actually a non-dysphoric neuroqueer demigirl!!!") or identity politics.

Actual trans characters are invalid if there's a cis person involved anywhere in their creation.

I've always noticed that these web cartoons always put way too much into it's storyboarding. Growing Around did it too. And, considering there's only one animator on Gen Zed, you'd assume that he wouldn't need to put that much into the storyboards.
