Wow, people are RPing these characters through texts....there are so many different things you can do with your day other than this. Also, how much you wanna bet it was just one sad person with two phones texting this?
They actually use fake screenshot generators for the most part, there's no bizarre subculture of iPhone roleplaying as far as I know. It's really just the scriptfics of yore being updated to a more modern format.

Many of them openly hate the creator of it and only change their minds when they asspat them. Honestly, I don't think that there were many people who flipped out when she said the main character is half Jewish. I guess there's no neo-Nazis/extremist Zionists/people that consider Jews POC in the fandom.

It's kinda weird, really. I`m actually a bit scared of the fandom. I actually watch the show- it's not terrible beyond fandom. Usually I like things and do things without the fandom so I really don't associate with it.

Though it worries me when multiple people call adults of cartoons stupid or something. I like cartoons. I guess I shouldn't like it...? (Not a troll or anything, just genuinely worried. I like drawing cartoons. I actually make my own cartoon series..Though it's odd... I like doing things like that. I get sick often and seeing cartoons often cheers me up.)

Damn, I realized parts of my hobbies sound Chris like, but I, legitimately, started working on stories and sort since I was a kid. I do draw pretty well. (I actually was entered in Scholastic competition)
See, no one cares. No one cares that you like it, and if you do you should keep it down. This is part of the reason we have the powerlevel rating, but you didn't do a good job of that in more ways than one.

To put this gently, this is the exact kind of post that is why this thread was tagged Plagued until recently and has been in danger of being locked its entire existence.

It should be over here in this thread, if anywhere.

This is directed not just to the poster but to the thread in general. It isn't any worse than some of what has gone on even recently.

Uh sorry. I didn't realize. I didn't get into the forums much prior, so I didn't see it.

Again, I am not familiar in ratings much. I just got here. (Or haven't been here very long) so I haven't got a clue what power level rating really means.

Power leveling is basically talking about yourself or personal experiences in the context of talking about the subject of the thread. The topic of the thread here (unlike the actual SU thread over in Multimedia) is the fandom and why it is stupid and should be laughed at.

So often, people who are fans of it will try to defend it or "white knight" or, in this case, just talk about animation in general and personal experiences relating to it. But they shouldn't.

it is also much worse to delete your posts......
I saw what I did wrong and removed it. That's not bad, is it?

Oh I see, sorry.

Putting this back on track, half the issue is with Tumblr deep-enders insisting the show is for LGBTQ persons and fuck everyone else, yes, but I think there's an inherent issue with the people outside the fandom looking in as well. There's still this stigma attached to cartoons where people insist they're for children. I'd love to see how these people would react if you sat them down with their kid and put on Fritz the Cat, or Heavy Metal.

Yeah, deep-ender fans of any series are gonna look like aspires when they get on Tumblr and talk about "muh oppression," but parents might want to think about what their kids are watching and how it might be more than a bunch of funny moving pictures that make little Jimmy shut up for a half an hour.

Cartoons are for children. Citing a few isolated counterexamples is like urinating in the ocean.

There's some interesting research about why autistic kids like Thomas the Tank Engine. Some of the findings are specific to Thomas, but others seem to have a broader applicability across cartoons as a medium. In particular, I'd suggest that some of the Thomas research findings highlights particular differences between cartoons and live action shows which mean that the former will often be more appealing to children on the autistic spectrum:
  • The calm and clear narration which exaggerates and 'signposts' changes clearly.
  • The easy to follow storylines, where something usually goes wrong but it is resolved by the end of the episode.
  • The still background and scenery. (Children with autism can be easily distracted by detail and small changes either in sound or movement.)
  • The easily recognisable and bold colours.
  • The 'friendly' faces whose expressions are exaggerated and are set for some time and so can be understood.
  • The accuracy of the models.
  • The predictability of the roles played by different characters.
Now, I'm not suggesting that:
  • If you enjoy cartoons, you have autism
  • Every cartoon will fit every bullet point above
  • You, in particular, dear reader, are childish or autistic
I'm just observing that a lot of cartoons tend to attract a pretty autistic-seeming fanbase, and that the above research might offer an insight into this phenomenon.
