Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

The thing is, it's not the first time. And won't be the first time this method failed either. The attempt to legally push Smart Guns back in the early Obama years was another case of "Try to mandate a nonexistent technology be put in for safety" and it failed.... basically every court test, and then got memory-holed -hard-. I remember reading about it back then from a few sites, but can't find jack and shit now.
My understanding was that California added a law mandating all guns must have smartlocks as soon as that technology was readily available, so all the manufacturers were like, " Well, then we'll never even think about making that available." So, the end result of mandating it was that now it's not even an option for someone who wants it for whatever reason.

Is there a way to detect alcohol in someone's system without drawing blood or breath? Does this mean we're getting active biometric cameras facing the driver? Are insurance companies going to use it constantly to refuse payouts?

Any of you remember the Hillary Hole?

The method I think they would end up using would be something like a Smart Start device. They get put on your car if you get a DUI charge. It is an ignition bypass that you have to blow into in order to start your vehicle's engine. If you can't pass the breathalyzer, you don't get to start your car. They've been around for a while. Otherwise like you say, they'd have to use some other type of technology to achieve the same goal. And it would be expensive and probably intrusive.

It's called an interlock, and the snippet posted above said they *weren't* using an interlock or breathalyzer device. Also, interlocks are absolute garbage. They're designed poorly because the majority of the thousands you hand to a mechanic to fix it goes to the company your government contracts. The whole process fucks the driver and the mechanic shop. They barely pay the mechanic's hourly rate per install, and you lose a half dozen labor hours every couple months to keep up with training. The point I was trying to make is that I'm not aware of a technology that exists today that can be attached to your car that doesn't have to draw your breath or your blood. I would assume they probably have a AIs that can analyze video to try and determine if a person is drunk, and that opens another can of worms.

On that topic, Mothers Against Drunk Driving is a fucked up authoritarian organization. My sister got a a marijuana related DUI in the early 2000s, and even though she passed a field sobriety test on camera, the judge threw the book at her. She wrote the judge a letter later asking why he was so harsh, and he straight up admitted to her that a local MADD group monitored all local DUI cases and would lead organized harassment campaigns against judges that didn't impose maximum penalties. I don't know their demographics, but I'd bet it's a bunch of white Karens and balding Jews.

That was microstamping.

I know that's part of how they operate, but shouldn't they know what sort of technology will be going in cars? It seems a little concerning that they're agreeing to mandate putting as-of-yet unknown technology in vehicles.
They will probably have OnStar subscriptions for connectivity while sneaking any and all wire bugs under "breathalyzer". No one is going to know what these things should look like or how they should function.

OK, we've hit it now.

We have to go back.

I don't care how, we have to go back.

This has gotten completely stupid. It's jumped the fucking shark.

We're hitting "Fuck this, I'm moving to Sparta" levels of shit now.

The US isn't creeping toward a fucking dystopian hellhole of elites and underclass, with second class citizens and constant monitoring, it's sprinting over the edge yelling "I'LL INVENT A JETPACK ON THE WAY DOWN!"

We have to go back.

This was in her jurisdicition as each SCOTUS member gets a portion of the country to be quick relegator, she couldn't/wouldn't even do this. I don't really blame Trump, I just see the snakes needing to no longer hide.
He really was completely surrounded by swamp creatures, was there anything he did that actually stuck or person he put in place that wasn't a total fucking snake?

Not only that, they splice them so shitly into the car’s wire harness, more often then not they cause thousands of dollars of electrical damage or straight up brick the car.

Hey, people really wanted Cyberpunk 2077; when it turned out to be crap, folks decided they wanted to make the game a reality.

I remember in the day Local Talk Host had a particular bug up his ass about MADD being a bunch of cockshits, and would go full Amazing Randi and offer cash challenges to locals to debate him and shit
