The fact that we havent evacuated all our citizens from there is mind boggling. We have the equipment and trained personnell to do so, i just did a quick search and cargo planes like the C-17 and C-130 dont even need a runway, a fairly level strip of ground would do fine. They have engines powerful enough they could lift off with less than 1000 meters of runway loaded with people if they needed to.

Which means this disaster is at the management level all the way up to the president. They had plenty of time to organize and prepare for a much more orderly evacuation, but for whatever reason they delayed or refused to implement a plan
