Anglo conditioning against the french runs similarly deep.

Whether it's the false myth that french is a military fuckup historically, or the supposed shortness of napoleon, there really is no end to anglo shit talking that get entrenched into their collective unconsciousness. French myths tend to be self involved. Even Americans tend to take over these french myths, despite the fact that they would probably not have won their independance without the french help.

There is reason that the peace that is the birth of the american nation is called the treaty of Paris. The French had sent the most competent military as probably had set foot in the american continent so far, and also harassed the English across the globe to such a degree that public sentiment very much was against fighting for the american colony and rather about securing the channel, the islands and some of the trade routes.

The Dutch experienced something similar. Despite being long term anglo allies, when the anglo's changed and decided to declare war on us ("they are attacking a mountain of gold and if we fight back all we can win is a miuntain of iron"), the english lexicon became filled with amorphisms about the dutch.

Dutch wife - prostitute
Dutch courage - liquor
Dutch treat - bring your own food
Dutch defense - ratting someone out as legal defense
Dutch bargain - when you make a deal while too drunk to know better

America would have eventually won no matter what. The British empire was about making money, and the colonies dont turn a profit when they're willing to fight a forever war against any people you send to extract money from them

Yes, but maybe that eventually would have been 200 or 400 years later, like a brazil or canada. Without french arms supply america hadn't anywhere near the production to compete with the English. And if the French didn't see value in the brits losing an important asset and fighting them everywhere on the globe, the americans would have been brought to heel.

History is filled with more failed revolts than succesful ones.

Probably not. The British could easily dominate the port cities and other areas accessible to their formidable naval forces. There was very little to do about that. In fact, they did just that even with French assistance to us. There was absolutely nothing they could do in the interior even if we'd been vastly outmatched in terms of weapons. We weren't, though, which just made it a (relatively) swift and easy victory, rather than an interminable nightmare for both sides.

So thanks, Lafayette. Even the British should thank him for saving them that bullshit.

The french resistance may have been a meme, but they are fun with protests though. When paris tried giving those wheelclamps to badly parked cars, people weren't having it. They decided to put glue or gum in the locks whenever they saw one. So when someone called, paid to have it unlocked, it took hours to unlock. It made them too bad of a punishment and it was a logistics nightmare as one guy/team got stuck dealing with one for a long while.

Right now they're protesting covid restaurant rules by going out and picknicking in front of empty vaxx only restaurants and bars,.

- "Buying GF" is a rather infamous meme which originated from the game.
- "Armor trimming" is an additionally infamous scam where you would steal another player's armor by promising to add a decorative trim to it if they give it to you.
