Psychonauts 2 will feature an invincibility toggle to enable "all ages, all possible needs" to enjoy the game - Game journalist mode ahoy!

It doesn't even make sense.
David Jaffe is apparently considers himself a critic of "unregulated capitalism" rather than a socialist, but that's not really the point of this interaction with Cory Barlog. Rather, continuing on Barlog's building analogy, Jaffe is making a point about how the challenge (difficulty) of Souls games is the main vision ("raison d'etre") the developers mean to impart to players. Reasonably assuming that Barlog is a sort of hipster commie, Jaffe suggests that the hypothetical building is an anti-capitalist art exhibit, but the actual artworks can only be seen from the stairs. So if you bypass the stairs and never see the anti-capitalist artworks, aren't you missing the artist's message entirely?

Ultimately, however, the building analogy was faulty from the start, and Barlog ignored Jaffe's point anyway by instead throwing out a joke which distracted Jaffe to a tangent.

Playing games with cheats on is fucking boring. It's what you do when you've beaten the game already and it's already starting to get boring so you want to bend it over your knee one last time before shutting it down for good.

I can't imagine what sort of paramecium brain you'd need to enjoy a video game with no challenge or input required. Just fucking look the cutscenes up on YouTube.

I don't fucking get people anymore.

I'm convinced it's some weird autistic or OCD response by idiots who lack self-awareness and are upset over their FOMO. I don't give a fuck how people play their video games, but the mentality of, "every game should be enjoyable for anyone" is so fucking devoid of reality. Games are already so broad in scope that you should easily be able to find a game that fits your interests and comfort, but it's still not enough for some people because of their compulsion to play games that were never intended for them. You take this mentality to any other hobby and people'd look at you like you're fucking crazy, but there's a big enough crowd that wants to treat games like television and all of the sudden you have a rallying cry. Justify it in the name of inclusivity and now you get to be morally righteous about it too.

This is true in every medium not just video games from movies, to books, to comics, and TV shows. Hell, even food. You can easily draw the comparison.

There are some people who like spicy hot food and there are others who hate it. That is ok, but what is not ok is demand that they do away with spicy hot food because there are some people in the world who can't take the heat.

But on the other hand shouldn't everyone be able to enjoy it, why be so exclusionary with your cooking to make something so spicy hot? You can see where this train of logic can go and it is nuts.

The same is true for demanding that everything must be spicy hot because people just need to toughen up.

We can go further with this logic and demand that peanuts must be abolished from cooking altogether because some people are allergic.

If you try to make everyone happy, the result is everything will just taste bland and then no one will be truly happy. Trying to be inclusive sounds like a good thing in theory, but in practice is impossible without chipping away at the creative soul and you wind up with design by committee. Even then someone is still going to be unhappy.

Why would you let a troon handle your twitter account?? Yeah I know diversity blah blah blah but it's still a fucking dumb idea.
Just be grateful they weren't hired as a writer like some game journos automatically get. Sometimes editorial, but I've mostly seen that in localization companies.

The level of nepotism and cronyism is disgusting. People who have no idea what makes a game somehow end up getting these jobs just because they got to use their privileged connections to make inroads through the industry. Ironically it's very capitalistic, not that I'd expect them to be aware enough to realize this.

Kinda late, but I think it's a total non-issue. It's not like they're removing some difficulty modes to make room for this toggle.

Oh god, don't remind me of the cuphead guy...
That's beyond just being bad at games, that raises suspicion that Dean Takahashi may just be mentally retarded. How do you try so many times at the jump dash and just not comprehend it?

Yeah, I know, game journalists are dumb and all, but like, does he have an actual learning disability with his motor skills? Does he sit there and try to push on a door he's supposed to push open? Do twist-off caps on bottles confound him?

And not too long ago we had games like muramasa rebirth with fury mode where its hard as shit and you only get 1 hp throughout the whole game.
Whats happened to gaming also glad i don't play new shit these days
