Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

The guy gaming out the active duty was told "OK, now, roll out of the bases and make your preparations."

He went "Nah. This looks like something for the National Guard and the State Patrol to handle. Active Duty doesn't fight civilians."

The whole thing fell apart. National Guard units couldn't project power, the judges ruled that the civilians went home after 2 months, and the game ended.

The idea of the active duty military just looking around and going "You know what, this isn't our fucking problem. Call me when the winners are declared, we don't kill civilians." is fucking hilarious and the least likely thing to happen.

I remember hearing a rumor that at some point some officer at the Pentagon with too much free time decided to do some polling about how would the active army react in that situation and it ended up getting nuked mainly because the optics of the Pentagon asking such questions just looks bad but also cause the numbers weren't good.

Something like 70% of the sof community said they would load up there trucks with as much military hardware as they could steal and go join up with the civilian forces, and conventional wasn't much better. On top of a whole bunch of people who would simply go AWOL if order to deploy in the US.

Yup, BULLSHIT to the max.

The military, at every level, devotes a staggering amount of time and effort to planning. They plan for every contingency imaginable. They plan things as simple as unit change-of-command ceremony. There are thousands and thousands of people, military and civilian, who draw up plans, coordinate plans, review plans, update plans, approve plans, oversee the execution of plans, and compile lessons learned after the execution of plans. The military couldn't operate otherwise. And we aren't taking one or two pages, either. Some plans run into hundreds of pages.

Once again, politics triumphs. The "political" generals/admirals have instructed their minions to say there wasn't a plan, to cover the brass' ass with the civilian politicians.

And the credibility of the military, once one of the American national institutions with the most perceived integrity, sinks just a little lower, moving down that slippery slope. Disgusting. The further down the military sinks in that respect, the harder it is to recover, if at all.

How can America(n tax payers) bail out an enemy? China aren't an ally, they're a threat to America being the largest economy, so how can giving them money make sense? Unless:

1) Biden thinks the cold war is still going on, and a capitalist country bailing out a communist one looks good.
or
2) There's so much American money in china, and so much chink money in America, that if China falls, the rich elites in America lose a fair few quid.
