Chris' art definitely improved but stagnated. Some people just have this impossible hate-boner for the guy where they're adamant he can never do anything right.
Go back and look at fucking early Sonichu. Practically cave-paintings compared to this shit.

Talking about his shit art, this is how he holds a pen.
I hold a pen like the Escher picture, "Drawing Hands". That's how I've always held a pen.
Everyone in school used to say (when they say next to me) "What the fuck? How do you hold a pen like THAT!?" like I was a fucking freak. They then proceeded to show me the "correct" way which was how we see Chris doing it here, but with more of a death grip.
Autistic aside and off-topic it just really boils my onions.

Chris is just trying to convey Sandy has a quirk where she's horrendously embarrassed by her middle name. When most of your knowledge of people's behavior comes from cartoons you wind up seeing nothing wrong with this.

If Sandy had only said that here middle name is Samanth nobody would’ve cared.
Instead Chris has her breaking the fourth wall and telling the audience to never-ever call her Sam or Sammy. Now it’s only a matter of time before someone tries to provoke Chris with an image of Sammychu with a pickle. It’s almost like Chris wants people to troll him.

The problem largely stems from the fact Chris likes 90s cartoons. A lot of those cartoons that tried to use comedy failed spectacularly. Someone showed me some cartoon duck show in real life from the 90s starring the guy who plays George in Seinfeld and all of it's "wacky ironic pop culture, break the 4th wall" humor made me want to kill myself. You see this in other shows as well such as The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog.
The fact Chris has never seen to pick up a book or even read an article related to writing really shows in his work.

Chris' 4th wall non-sequitur stuff is very much lifted wholesale from Family Guy and to a lesser extent Excel Saga if it's an anime reference. The whole Punchy backstory thing makes me cringe every time I read it because the jokes are straight up copy pasted from Excel Saga.
I would say media as a whole ruined Chris. The 90s cartoons are probably the worst in that regard since half of them were trying to be clever and meta-jokey and the other half was mindless garbage meant to sell toys with tacked on morals at the end to pretend to be educational. And Chris absorbed both without any kind of discretion.

It think Borb are more to blame, they are the ones that let Chris spend so much time watching TV without any meaningful human interaction, getting fatter as the years went by. Add his olympic-grade autism to the mix and this is the result.
