Wow... Just. Wow.
If it's as bad as skyraider says (and there is no reason to doubt his word), then the Chandlers are going to be neckdeep in trouble.
Damp, moldy barbage, filth and insects (maybe even rodents)... this is just too much. People were discussing the impact of the taint piercing and poor diet on Chris' health and his life expectancy, soon he will be in living conditions we know to be almost inhumane.
The house never looked comfy or anything, in Chris' first tour of his house, it was incredibly depressing to witness the circumstances they lived in, it was disgusting in some others, but I guess Chris was used to it, so I doubt he'd feel too uncomfortable about the state it was in (most likely only annoyed by the barbage being in the way so much).
But now? Imagine going back into a house that still is filled to the brim with barbage, but now it also smells of mold and decay, broken stuff all around you and everything just reminds you of a (slightly) better past. When you consider BC14 was Chris' time capsule of better times as a kid when the world still made sense to him and he had nothing much to care about, imagine him soon living in a rotten husk of said memory, surrounded by the traces of the fire and poor care thereafter, sitting in his room playing with Lego.
