Other way around. Many European pagan traditions had fertility festivals as soon as it was vaguely warm enough to screw outdoors. Lambing season. All that good stuff. Then this new resurrection story got added to the others.
Can't tell if serious. They absolutely do in my small city, and colorful porch decorations abounded this year.
