If it gets out that you can gift a shitload of subs and then turn around and charge it back? Prepare for maximum trolling. Twitch doesn't want to open that bag of shit for someone like DSP. $4k is couch change for them.

I agree, I just think it also opens an entirely different bag of trolling to be able to reverse payment on gifted subs and have the streamer still receive payment for it. It's just stange to me that they would pay DSP for money they didn't get, that was to purchase intangible temporary digital stickers. I'm just saying it's not a good situation either way.

Twitch does seem to place a lot of importance on not pulling the curtain back on exposing that subs and cheers can essentially be considered worth no money by giving the appearance of handing them out for free due to not paying the streamer when a reverse payment is applied to them, so I assume they would just pay him and try to sweep everything under the rug and hope it doesn't get out that DSP got $1,000+ dollars from Subscriptions for free and opened up 2 extra permanent emote slots from it as well.

I'd bet that if it happens to one streamer too often they'll start looking into de-partnering them.

@Prince Lotor , I imagine Twitch could do things like taking away the unlocked emotes and remove those sub point things that streamers get for each sub they have if they determine the subs were bought fraudulently. The cheers, though, I don't see much they could do about it except, perhaps, refusing to disburse payment for them?

Now that I think about it, if Twitch was notified quickly enough, they could definitely remove bits from a streamer if it was known to be from a fraudulent source since they don't do any actual payouts until 45 days after the end of a given month. So maybe Twitch could actually, if they wanted to go that route, do a "charge-back" of sorts on bits.

I was thinking that as I wrote my post too. The only defense Twitch would really have if a streamer were specifically and repeatedly getting trolled like that would be to end their partnership and remove them from the affiliate program that makes bits available. Maybe they would site chat toxicity or a failure to moderate their community. I had heard Forsen still gets denied partnership because Twitch says his chat is too toxic.

I think Twitch will probably just pay him and cross their fingers that it doesn't happen again.

Businesses don't tend to prosper by throwing away money for no reason and "crossing their fingers" it doesn't happen again.

Keep in mind Twitch isn't the average business. neger makes the point here that "Amazon most likely didn't buy Twitch to generate profit but instead to try and bruteforce their position in new media", "Amazon will happily lose millions of dollars a year if it means they might gain in other sectors because they own Twitch".

Right, and if I were the one making that decision I wouldn't pay him, but that's also because I think the worst that would happen is DSP would act like a shitty baby and the community reaction would be to tell him to STFU and stop whining because he brought it on himself. He's on record now stating he knew Tut was a troll the whole time and knew this would happen, but also personally communicated with and unbanned him multiple times.

Twitch has an extremely non-typical business-model though. They make most of their money selling access to digital stickers that are only as valuable as whatever users are willing to pay to access them. It's sort of an 'The Emperor has No Clothes' situation. They have to decide which is the worst PR situation, and which is more likely to keep people believing 'The Emperor' is wearing a very fine cloak and you totally can't see his genitals.
If paying him keeps up the illusion that the stickers are valuable and desirable they will pay him to try to keep the situation quiet, but I also think they still don't understand the autism sphere surrounding DSP and don't understand if they pay him autists will be REE'ing everywhere about the free money DSP got and the emote slots he doesn't deserve. You know DSP is too stupid to STFU about it if Twitch still pays him, he has to get on camera and shout, 'Neener, neener, neener! HaHaHa I still got the fucking chair, fuck you!'

Edit:
Do you guys really think that this is the first time this has happened?

I get zero mentions of anything like it from Google searchs. In all likelihood it has happened, but Twitch seems to want to keep that shit quiet. If it was happening a lot I don't think they could keep it quiet. I don't see a lot of people risking money to do it on purpose, maybe a few angry parents doing reverse charges because their kid did some stupid shit with a card. Probably enough that they do have some internal policy in place that isn't public knowledge yet, which is why we can only speculate. I think that's why this interests me, because after this that internal policy will be closer to public knowledge.

While I do agree that refunding subscriptions is a Pandora's Box of PR problems Twitch wouldn't want to deal with, the Shit that circles DSP's Shit has yet to influence Twitch's relationship with him. If anything, the Detractor Twitter Crusader's harassment of anyone involved would embarrass the credibility of their position :/

I'm 100% certain that Twitch already has these policies in place, and probably haven't even looked at who DSP is or what his chat is like.

He's such a small fish I can't imagine Twitch cares strongly either way about him, and a couple thousand in chargebacks is probably minor.

how many 12yo's used Mommy's card to give Ninja cash only to get it clawed back do you think? I'm betting it's dozens to hundreds a month, minimum, considering his numbers.

God can you imagine the # of chargebacks on titty streamers? Particularly if they get outed as having a bf/husband

  1. Get affiliate
  2. Buy 1000 sub packs with individual credit cards
  3. Charge back credit card payments (since it was only one transaction you'll win)
  4. Make a fuck ton of money off Twitch

So in the latest prestream, he is saying that he is in correspondence with Paypal and they are letting him keep the 1.2k

As far as I'm concerned, with this night's prestream, he's admitted he lost, and tut got at least a portion of the money back. Going on about "it's over, I don't want to bring it up again," and "doesn't matter what he said or did, he's a liar, and a habitual liar," as well as mistating words more often than usual (undermanned, instead of undermined), it definitely sounds like he's both flustered and frustrated.

I mean, not like Dave isn't known for acking while gloating heavily, instead of calling someone crazy/mentally ill/whatever else, and that he doesn't want to talk about it anymore.

*also, with how sidella Dave is about starting his nightly streams on-time, he's going overtime on these rants. Big hmmmm, tbh.

Was hoping he'd lose everything. Better put that money into his tAHKSIS.

Nothing sets Dave off more than losing money, or possibly being short-changed. Just go back to that story about a group of people he knew, who he felt shortchanged him during some dinner bill. Lost his shit on that, and you can tell it still festers. Dave is nothing but agitated in this stream, but the nice thing is, aside from the short-term pitybux from his regulars, his inflated pride/ego will prevent him from admitting he took the L. Might be something that bites him in the ass when he starts begging for handouts, and many assume he can't be that hard-up for money with the thousands tut sent him.

Outcome A: he wins. Dsp gets his money back and has a great time rubbing it in tuts face

Outcome B: he loses. Dsp cant tell people he lost because it would invite more chargebacks. He says he wins and rubs it in tuts face

Take a look at wings and the amount of people who charge him back. Dave doesnt want people to figure it out its a way to fuck with him. So i wouldnt take what he says at face value
