Why do "stop copying us" corporate letters always begin with a long list of the company's history and intellectual property claims? Why don't they just skip to the point instead?

It’s a bit like how Japanese warlords used to read off their family history before battle to try and make the other side back down.

How long till boomers just fucking die?
I mean, anyone with the slightest knowledge of how the Internet works knows that the Streisand effect is a VEEEEEEEEEEEERY real thing by now, and while its hilarous to see them self-immolating everytime they try to pull shit like this, it gets boring after the gazillionth time.

I think it's a calculated risk. They probably aren't aware of the site like those on or viewing it are. Thus you try to get it removed, and if they do then problem solved. I mean a dmca from in-house or even out of house council is probably nothing to them. It's never going to stop as long as it can work even if rare.

I mean, what can they hope to even gain here? It's not like people are storming over here in droves to dig through a thread wherein a buncha autists lament the sorry state of Star Wars to see the super top secret Lego sets.
The fucking things come out in a little over a month. Two tops.
If 1776 tells them to fuck off the legal proceedings would take longer than the release date for the fucking sets!

It just seems like spite. My inner-tinfoil-hat-wearing-conspiritard tells me that Disney put them up to this as revenge for talking shit on their movies and dissecting the leaks in detail. But he's more autistic than I am, so I shouldn't read too much into that.

I think when you get corporate lawyers involved there's a lot of "miss the forest for the trees" where they will take action regardless if it makes sense because that's their job.

Suck Disney's dick some more, Lego.

Lego generally sends these to Lego fan sites that break nda's or publish unofficial leaks. Yeah they have no legal backing. But the fansites generally comply because otherwise Lego cuts them off from the flow of official info.

Plus there isnt that much market for "red hot lego leaks" outside of Chinese bootleggers seeking to reverse engineer and release bootlegs beforre the actual product comes out. Lepin was the master for that. Most Lego fan sites comply just to fuck Lepin.

Kiwifarms really has no dog in any of this.

@BigRuler No, just the opposite in fact.

Re: product leaks surreptitiously occurring ahead of their official release dates - Is the kiwi who posted them the original leak or just re-posting images from somewhere else on the internet? as if he'd tell. Would that make a difference to a lawsuit against the farms should the company assert him to be the original leak of stolen product images? The notice doesn't make that side of things clear. They've wasted time explaining who they are, what they do, and saying "take it off there" via a DMCA notice. If they decided to make an actual federal case out of it lol, what would be their legal basis?
The leaks are from a lego forum. Not our (apparently endorsed by lego) autism forum.

mfw the lego company is coming for us

You forgot to cut his torso open so the cotton leaked out.

Honestly, I'd use the time they wasted doing that to charge them and see how many I could kill. You don't bring a history report to a battlefield.

It could be they will sometimes follow through just to make an example of some, in order to deter others from doing the same. A bluff only works if you know there might actually be a chance it’s not a bluff.

I shan't powerlevel but I have experience with similar rubbish sent out by Disney and you would not BELIEVE what they try to get away with. They shotgun these things all over areas, demanding money through bogus ‘fines’ in their C&Ds, all sorts of shady business that’s impossible to enforce, but scares the piss out of smaller sites and operations, enough to make them stop doing what they’re doing for fear of Disney actually following through and ruining them.

My guess is this is likely the last we will hear from Lego and that these two letters were meant to scare a lesser man than Dear Leader. But it’s too costly and pointless to follow through, so it’s an empty threat.

Me I’m holding out hope for some Kiwi farms exclusive sets in exchange for cooperation. Russell Greer backstage Taylor Swift concert set, Lucas Werner’s fart-filled box flat (with miniature cheese blocks), and of course the Wax-n-Sue Salon Yaniv playset.

Unfair competition? Who could possibly recreate and mass produce these toys before fucking LEGO is able to release them?

Ummm? Yeah, that actually is a major problem. The Chinese company Lepin is particularly skilled at it. They reverse engineer from pictures and flip them to released product in days. Really shitty product, but close enough in appearance to fool and flood the discount markets. They steal from LEGO. They steal from LEGO fans. They actually stole and released one of my designs.

True. Never underestimate the Chingese.
Wonder if they'll legit tard out and try an international suit?
Would they be stupid enough to try and contact Disney over this? Disney could have reason to at least send an angry letter since there's a video in the griefing thread right now that Disney wants off the internet. If whoever snitched about the legos told them about the video, we may have the Mouse looming over us at any moment.
