Joker was only ever a sure thing for two: Score and Actor. The days of one film dominating hasn’t happened in over a decade. The last Best Picture to win more than four awards was The Artist, which won just 5.

I love Parasite. But that belonged to Sam Mendes for directing.

To me 1917 is all about Deakins and the guy that did the production design, Dennis Gassner. Their work was more key than Mendes.

Have they always announced Best Actress after Best Actor? I thought it was the other way around.

They alternate every other year. Same with supporting actor/actress. Last year they did supporting actress first, this year it was Pitt.
