I don't agree with granting the OP basic moderation privileges. Instead, it is better to be allowing the OP unlimited editing powers (not the ability to delete) for their subsequent other posts within the same thread. This would enable users to correct errors and improve formatting of their own posts (not anyone else's) without affecting other people's contributions.

While I doubt this suggestion will be implemented, it could benefit many users. If the original poster leaves, the thread can still continue and assuming they fix errors in their posts, it benefits everyone.

There are risks associated with unlimited editing, such as potential abuse to alter information. However, this also applies to threads as a whole. If someone does abuse that power, they should have the ability taken away.

Do your best kiwis. I never been in position of power on the Internet. I'll apply anyway because I believe the forum needs as much help as possible. Even in the smallest way.
