Surprised they didn't drag someone like Xenon out to cry about 4chan as well. The only time I ever heard about what WT Snacks is up to past his time as a mod on 4chan is when he's actively bitching about 4chan since the 2010's. And that's usually a rarity onto itself. He's such a forgotten figure and we're now closing in to where there are posters on 4chan who are going to be over the age of 18 born after he got demodded.

'member Allison the underage /b/ mod?

"baskin roberts trust fund band" is now a banned phrase. This is what happened when I tested it

What's weird is that it ends at midnight instead of the time when you got banned, and can be appealed after only 1 day. Didn't even know 4chan had text bans like this

QAnon and then a lot of talk about the capitol riots which I don't remember having much to do with 4chan?
It didn't. Jan 6 was largely organized through mainstream social media sites like Facebook and alt tech sites like Gab not 4chan. Most of the people who went in the capitol were middle aged and most likely had no idea what 4chan was. Did /pol/ talk about it a bunch and did some go? Sure. It getting a bunch of screentime is purely political.

That's interesting. Some of the /who/'s schizos phrases are an autoban as well IIRC ("David Tennant bedshits" is the phrase I know of) but I'm not sure if these bans in particular are a new system? Also begs the question why it took so long to do it. It's also not going to do anything for his other phrases, or just how he spams AI images anyway.

According to soyjak wiki this isn't anything new

i definitely feel a lot of similarities between the gay ops /blacked/ spam posting on other boards and this huge uptick in /o/ trucker vs not trucker console warring shit, it feels so inauthentic compared to other stupid fights that happen on the board, literal dozens of threads that are just pictures of a dually parked in 3 handicap lanes at once with "u mad?". i might be retarded like i always am, but this feels like it might be a lefty/pol/ coordinated op to make people hate truck drivers

I wouldn’t even say it’s /leftypol/, but definitely some kind of coordinated off-site entity who desires to post low-effort bait to completely shit up the site. Someone in /x/ brought this up and the thread got pruned after a decent discussion about it, and ever since I saw the thread I’ve been noticing it more.

/v/ has a huge problem with big discord raiding groups that just decide they hate a game and will shit up any thread about it. Not even in a "for the lolz" type way, like these are insane people who HATE these games and will do anything to stop them from being discussed. So it doesn't surprise me that there are more groups for other shit.

I just got done watching the netflix doc and it's very mediocre. It surpised me by starting off well, it has some interesting commentary on the beginning of 4chan and the literal whos don't make any extravagant claims, except for repeatedly saying "WE did this..." and "WE did that...". Kirtaner keeps the yapping in control. It then covers all of the gay raids and real life protests, which is a very cringe reminder. I find it pretty interesting that the fox news hacker on steroids clip is never shown (unless I missed it)....
...and when it hits the GamerGoober era it's downhill FAST from there. A very high level, light touch coverage of Trump's election, QAnon and then a lot of talk about the capitol riots which I don't remember having much to do with 4chan? It finishes in the worst possible way with Kirtaner finally getting his 5 minutes of fame and claiming to be the ultimate hacker man and final boss of the internet bla bla bla

It's not as bad as I was expecting, I guess it's worth watching if you have nothing else to do, but it's still very mid. 6/10 is the best I can do
The Netflix documentary starts off shockingly strong then tanks in the second half. It begins with a pretty well done outline of the history of 4chan, the early early meetups at Otakon back in the mid 2000s, interviews WT snacks, the beginning of anonymous, goes over the Habbo hotel raids, trolling of Hal turner and all that. It has some pretty cool animations to go along with it. If you're into internet history you will enjoy it. Then you hit about halfway mark when Gamergate is brought up and everything falls apart. They drop the mask of making a documentary about 4chan and goes into what the real narrative is "REEEEE GAMERGATE TRUMP QANON NAZIS!!". It's sad because the first half is so promising. Like I would recommend the first part to people here who are interested.
