A Guide On Ratings/Stickers - What are ratings and what do they mean?

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Ah, way to cut the legs from under a guy for no reason.
I said people feel differently from you, not that you don't know what you're talking about in terms of where the forum is going or what the intention is.

There's 15 people using the reactions in a way you don't intend them to be used in the example. 0 are using it "correctly".
"Deal with it".

The design and the vision are in conflict. Partly because there's two conflicting use cases with the emojis.
Sorry, that came off as ruder than I intended.

I don't think Islamic Content and Lunacy should give negative score. I see a lot of use of Lunacy in reference to content within posts, not the posts themselves. With regard to Islamic Content, a lot of its use is in reference to the Islam-related news that a user may post. Users shouldn't get dinged for this.

I think Autistic, Mad At The Internet, Dislike, and TMI should be the go-tos for "thumbs downing" other users. TMI should have a -1, and I think that's a good amount of stickers to cover "thumbs downing" someone.

I decided to autistically add the reaction IDs to the table from the OP.

For anyone unaware, if you're stuck on a phone, you can long-tap the Like button to open the "like" option on a new page. If you do that, you can replace the ID at the end of the URL (which will be "1") with the corresponding ID for the reaction you want to apply to the post.

For example, if I want to rate the OP "Informative" I can long-click the Like button on his post to open it in a new tab that asks me if I'm sure I want to apply the "Like" reaction. The URL will be https://kiwifarms.hk/posts/9007716/react?reaction_id=1 and I can swap to Informative by changing the 1 to a 6, like so: https://kiwifarms.hk/posts/9007716/react?reaction_id=6

A thumbs-down icon used in many websites.Possibly the least-used rating outside of boards with restricted ratings. Used to show dislike of a post, but has such a generalized meaning that most users will opt to use other ratings instead. 1621098253264.png
A trashcan, implying the user's opinion or post should be discarded.Often only to express extreme negativity compared to other ratings, and is usually given to particularly bad posts, whether due to content, quality, or relevance. A heart. A stylized one, not the real kind.A reference to the "feels" meme, which is used to describe strong emotion such as happiness, sadness, or calmness. A piercing, namely the perineum piercing owned by Chris Chan he deemed as the "un-clit," which his poor hygiene caused his body to reject.Originally donators-only. A lowercase "i," a symbol often used by information kiosks.Awarded to posts the user deems as "informative," usually those who share screenshots of lolcows, archives, or genuinely enlightening explanations. Islamic Content
1621099367695.png
A green star in a moon, a symbol of Islam. Its usage is a reference to Jace Connors, who would refer to imagery he disliked as such. For particularly disgusting posts, usually images which include gore or sexually explicit material. Late
1621099581723.png
An old-fashioned alarm clock.Posts which are "late," such as ones which share information which was already established or posts which restate commonly-held opinions.-111

1621099685119.png

1621099739897.png
A half-crescent moon, as a pun on the word "lunacy."Posts which express insane views or that are incomprehensible. Is sometimes used ironically on posts which express common opinions or obvious information. Also used on posts which discuss the moon in some form as a joke.-132

A top hat, a reference to Anthony "A-Log" LoGatto, who conflated Chris Chan with literal war criminals and wore the headwear.People expressing genuine anger or a desire for violence, or at least to those who are perceived as such. Also used on posts which highly exaggerate a strong and negative reaction to a typically mundane or only slightly inoffensive subject. This is usually just seen when two people start arguing as they rate each other with it. Gives the most negative score, since posts which this applies to are highly reductive or detracting.-216
MATI Moai Garbage TMI Sperging Deviant Retard1641253545154.pngA moai island head wearing a top hat with an autism symbol on it, sporting a scouter and a deviant smile while sitting inside a trash can.We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed, a few people cried. Most people were silent. I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad Gita; Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty and, to impress him, takes on his multi-armed form and says, "Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds." I suppose we all thought that, one way or another.-∞?

TMI
1621100608542.png
A scouter from the manga/anime "Dragonball," used to display the information of a target.Originally called "power level," now called TMI (which stands for "Too Much Information"), given to posts which offers needlessly excessive or revealing information on its own poster, especially when it is unsolicited, unrelated, or embarrassing. Openly talking about oneself is also called "power leveling." Also used on posts jokingly where users reveal obvious information, pretending it is meant to be a "secret."029
Thunk-Provoking

Nice Meme!(removed)A picture referencing the "doge" meme. Was only available on the joke/spam board. Just used as a positive rating, and would play a sound clip stating "nice meme" to the giver when selected.X?
Off-Topic(removed)A broken chain, symbolic of how the post "breaks away" from the discussion.Exclusively posts deemed off-topic, as these posts obviously detracted from the discussion at hand. This was removed because the users were just rating posts off-topic instead of reporting them.X?
Press 1(removed)A "1" button from a keyboard, a reference to Jace Connors, who would ask his viewers to post "1" as a means of voting on something. Was only available on the joke/spam board. While occasionally was used for actual voting, with posts prompting readers to "press 1" or "press 2" for a binary option, was generally used to express agreement or approval.X?
Press 2(removed)A "2" button from a keyboard, a reference to Jace Connors, who would ask his viewers to post "2" as a means of voting on something. Was only available on the joke/spam board. Lmao, TIL. I literally thought this entire time that the TMI rating was supposed to be a seatbelt buckle so that it kinda meant, "woah, slow down partner! Stop talking before you get in a crash!" Honestly, in my autistic head canon I'll keep it that way since it makes more sense.

Yeah before I found this thread I always thought "horrifying" was one of those old-timey barbells, I didn't realize it was a reference to the un-clit.

How do I go about getting access to donator-only ratings after donating? I've been trying to spam semper fi's in the litigation fund thread but can't :(
You need to be a True & Honest Fan.

So theres 2 ways to donate now. One is to Lolcow LLC, the other is to the legal fund. I know the legal fund donations are anonymous and not connected to your account at all. I have no idea if or how they plan to assign T&H to people because of how fast everything is moving. The full proof way for is to get a $20 USPS money order and send it to Lolcow LLC in West Virginia with a separate slip of paper with your username. Alternatively you could talk to staff at the bottom of the home page and see if they can do anything.
Cash / Check (Cheque) / Money Order
Lolcow LLC
400 D Street
PO Box 8158
South Charleston, WV 25303

Please, do not send cash. Money orders are preferred. Checks are also OK. Make payable to Lolcow LLC.
USPS money orders are convenient and anonymous. Please, do not send money orders from Walmart or WesterUnion because they cannot be cashed with e-check deposit.
Checks will take 2 weeks to settle. Do not send anything to this address you want to be received by me personally.

It's weird being a muslim and using this. It's more sarcasm, or telling the person they need Islam.

The dislike rating might unironically be the worst one to recieve since the one who is using this felt so revolted that they didn't even feel like dressing it up with any humor. Firm hard dislike, disapproval. It may be the most powerful sticker in the lineup.

Speaking of ratings, why not add a few which could only be used once a week or once a year? Initially, I thought semper fidelis were only usable like that until I found out they were doners only.

Ain't gonna lie, I miss the ratings scores. They are a fun little harmless ego boost for those with a high score, as well as a general quick way to tell who is a faggot and who isn't by viewing their score.

It's Null's house and he can do what he wants, but I think this was unnecessary. I don't even understand why it was done or see a discussion thread about it anywhere.

Yeah that and his reaction to reaction notifications seems off... the problem was with people being faggots in DM's.

Like I could get turning off react notifications by default, but removing the ability to use it all together seems weird.

Having a total reaction score for each user isn't necessary and i don't care if it gets removed, but turning off notifications for when a post you made gets rated seems like a bad idea. It's not about my heckin' karma or dopamine, It's because it drives engagement. When I open a tab to go to The Kiwi Farms and I see I got a notification that someone reacted to a post I made, it's a little message that tells me "Hey, remember that conversation you participated in? Well, that discussion is continuing." And I'm like "Oh, yeah! I should click on this notification so that it brings me to the post I made and I can continue reading from where I posted last. Thanks, notification system!" It's great because It'll bring me to threads I don't want to watch and get a notification for every post anyone makes in it, but still want to continue in the part of the discussion where I have participated. I think If you remove that people won't get drawn back into threads and keep them going/keep reading them. Maybe I'm the only one that does this, but that's just my experience with it.

I used it to gauge engagement as well.

There was a time when ratings notifications were truncated. Instead of twenty popups, you'd get "user and 19 other users reacted to your post." I think this would've been a fine middle ground.

I think it would be easier to disable ratings or notifications for disruptive guests since Null mentioned people rage rating posts for one user as autistic or dumb causing drama.
Removing scores is dumb because I used that to see who genuinely had insightful posts, plus people pay $20 to use the special stickers.
It feel more like a myopic decision that will drive engagement down. You may not like the drama caused by it but people value their little slice of internet notoriety.

Even Twitter and Facebook give me a notification if someone likes it or replies to me.
