Virtually impossible, although it really takes only one slip-up, at least at a time the feds are already looking into it, which they certainly are since it's a member of Congress. Even if she's a lunatic, it's still the job of the U.S. Capitol Police (which is a federal agency with nationwide jurisdiction and not just the clowns you saw at 1/6) to protect her, and presumably the FBI also has concurrent jurisdiction.

I'm in agreement with a lot of the sentiment here. It's been real shitposting on these forums, knowing there is a place where free speech remains on the internet untouched by threats of cancellation.

I'm not entirely sold on the doomposting, but it definitely looks like things are getting real. This recent swatting spree glows hard, it's clearly gayops of some sort, and us here if not the primary target, were clearly in their way. I'm of the opinion that if something does happen though, shit will have to hit the fan in the next week or two. After that this controversy will end up dying from lack of attention like the many many lolcow attempts to destroy the farms before. I'll be a bit cocky and say if we last that long we're probably in the clear.

Real shit, it is both bad news if this place goes dark, as it sets such a horrible precedent for using literal terrorist tactics to silence and censor criticism or even bemused shitposting that you don't like online. The post earlier in the tread about AI voice synthesizers is on point. AI is getting scarily good in a lot of ways, and it would only take a few insane and/or ideologically motivated individuals with a good enough voice, video or image synthesizing software to spread absolute chaos. Even if my darkest schizo fears about AI and misinformation never come true, one thing is good to take away from this. We live in an age of information warfare, the likes of which hasn't been seen before, this swatting narrative is just the latest in a long string of information warfare aka propaganda attacks against the Farms. If this forum dies, yes, offshoots will indeed spring up from the ashes, but who knows how reliable those will be, or if they will still have the same forum culture that makes this place worth visiting? Who's to say they won't be subject to the same cycle of gayops, or worse, become infested with people plotting gayops themselves?

All we really can do is stick together and let it all out now, because even though it's far from inevitable that the farms goes down, if it does (and even possible if it doesn't) things are about to get very, VERY weird.
