A washed up has-been who defaulted to relying on internet points as a form of living. Unfortunately for him, you get jack fucking shit for having 10k liked tweets. Exactly how does he afford a full family and 3,000 dollar rent on top of that? Did he really make that much money off of G4, or was it because of the banking job he once had?
I've written up a little bit about his likely finances:
He never made much of any money at the bank. He was only there a couple years and too young to make any real money.
He worked for G4 until 2012. Then he worked for Revision3 until 2014. I don't know how much money he made there. My perception is that G4 was a budget kind of operation. His coke problems and having a family in San Francisco to support kind of make it questionable how much money he could have saved.
He doesn't clearly work anywhere for the next two years. He does consulting on the side which gives him some money, but I wouldn't think big money.
In 2016, he joined a social media advertising analytics software startup called "Spiketrap". Given that he isn't a software guy and not a business guy, his role there was never clear. I think they would have paid him enough to keep him rent in San Francisco, but not paid him huge money. The company basically treaded water for four years and then raised 3 million dollars in 2020 on an undisclosed valuation. Undisclosed valuation usually means bad valuation.
Sessler left spiketrap in 2020 at the same time as the new money came in for "undisclosed reasons". Neither the company nor Sessler said why he left which usually means it was on bad terms.
Spiketrap was sold to reddit for an undisclosed amount of money in 2022. Sessler might have made some money off old stock options in the deal. But I don't think it would have been much money to him. I also don't think Spiketrap sold for much money in total.
Adam's current strategy is to project being a technology guy and to claim he made a fortune from Spiketrap. That he is independently wealthy from working in "AI Software". While he could have made money on spiketrap, my sense is that he didn't.
His income in 2021-2022 was from the revived G4 obviously. He would have made good money probably. But thats over and there is no clear sign of him doing anything next.
His wife might be paying the rent these days. I don't know much about her or what she does though. But I think Sessler's pose on twitter of being a rich guy who doesn't have to work is total bullshit.
