Jesus Christ we get it. You're so much better than us because you have a BA in English. I find it highly amusing that people who sport such BA's usually look down arrogantly on the working man/woman but otoh are always fucking shocked when a certified electrician/master craftsman tells them what he makes annually.

If I get the time, I'll archive the quotes but part of his overall "argument" against being a gamer is that he has gained enough success by founding and selling some A.I. tech company named SpikeTrap to Reddit in 2022. Okay sure, but if you look into it a bit more, Adam Sessler left the company in March 2020. Checking the Wayback Machine, you can see that while Sessler was with the company, they advertised themselves as a 'Gaming Intelligence' company - quite literally during January 2020, two months before Sessler left the company. However, the exact month Adam reportedly leaves, the website redesigns itself as a more general non-gaming specific audience AI-oriented company. Indeed, I think it is no coicindence that this happened literally the exact month Sessler departed. All of this autism is to say, any indication by Adam that he found success by selling a 'non-gaming oriented' company to Reddit is a fucking lie and premium cope upon further inspection.

I recommend anyone who is a fan of classic G4 and especially X-play to save and archive as many clips as possible before Comcast or Adam Sessler try to delete all so-called problematic comedy. Journalists will try to ruin your life if you make half the jokes Adam Sessler did back in the day. Adam Sessler was even the go to the gay, pervert and transgender joke guy. Morgan Webb was the go to Slut joke G4 girl before Olivia Munn joined the attack on the show. G4 and x-play even loved to use racial jokes about as much as gay jokes. Code Monkey has a character named Black Steve. The X-play Yu-gi-Hoe gang is one big Mexican LA gang joke.

Spiketrap was always about analytics for advertising. For the first few years they aimed at selling their software to gaming companies and had little success. They were out of money in 2020 and had to raise another round of venture financing. I think Adam's offiicial title was "Chief Revenue Officer" (of which there was very little). They got the new money, they moved away from their focus on gaming and Adam left all around the same time.
I really don't think he made any money to speak of at Spiketrap. But he likes to pretend.

I would describe the book as pretentious literary junk food. Its a very random book full of short chapters on things and places to do with the city. Every chapter is about something and its between 5-10 long. Its written in an annoying first-person style. Its like reading the diary of a excited person who is romantically exuberant about everything in the city that sees. He throws tons of random facts and trivia constantly at the reader to make up for the fact that the book is really hollow and empty. The author's favorite topic is himself.
But I could see why Adam would like it. I strongly suspect that this weird first-person random pretentious style is exactly how he would try to write if he wrote a book. I suspect that "research" means trying to copy Gary Kamiya's style.

Tbh, if Sessler wouldn't be such a coked out idiot he could write books and maybe even find success, but IMHO he's even to lazy to even consider the thought.

If they were smart and possessed critical thinking skills, Adam, they would have never let Frosk’s tirade happen and, honestly, would have hired attractive, likeable hosts like what you did in the early 2000s.
Gaming and gaming journalism have been in the downfall because of a lack of critical thinking. During the Game Awards, people were bitching on the internet about IGN laying them off. You decided to attack and ridicule the people you’re supposed to be catering to instead of giving them what they want, and this is the end result.
As much of a grift as Jeremy is, Geeks + Gamers at least have their own HQ. You used to have an oversized HQ that had to shut down in less than a year due to your incompetence.

For some reason, media companies often don't get that the presenters of a show are usually absolutely core to the brand and are a much more valuable asset than the sets, the name or the logo.
I didn't like Top Gear because of the logo or the name "Top Gear" or even because it was a car show - I'm not really a car enthusiast. I tuned in every week because of the incredible chemistry and humour of the presenters. Remove them, as the BBC did, and 95% of the appeal was gone. Replacing Clarkson with some guy from Friends who sounds like he's reading his lines at gunpoint (that unlike the previous hosts he didn't write himself) had no interest from me, and indeed most people. Top Gear died overnight, and is in zombie mode like the Simpsons now, they keep changing the hosts hoping to recreate the magic but the ratings don't budge, it's dead.
Top Gear, GiantBomb, =3, all sorts of late-night talkshows, and, of course, G4. All ruined by changing the presenters, victims of clueless media dunces who don't seem to understand how their own industry works. Adam Sessler is the poster boy for this arrogant and clueless corporate stupidity.

G4 2.0 was always doomed. Gamespot TV, Extended Play and X-Play died the second YouTube could replace them. Before they had a captive audience (as did the other shows on TechTV and G4). Sessler, post-coke, and Angry Dyke with Messed Up Teeth, never stood a chance in attracting an audience. None of the people who remember Adam care about him anymore, he burnt those bridges longa go, so he isn't a draw and Angry Dyke with Messed Up Teeth isn't a draw to anyone. Should've poached a decent streamer or someone unknown but charismatic and paired him with a pair of nice tits.
Top Gear wasn't quite that simple. They had been tired of Clarkson's crap for a long time and him punching a producer was the last straw. Trying to justify him not getting fired for that would be next to impossible, and of course the others left and wound up on their grand tour show on amazon that frankly, was a bit boring for the first season. Considering Top Gear before the main trio had changed hosts until they found the magic 3 that made it an international success, I highly doubt the people running things did it from the perspective of being clueless media dunces.

It'd also help if the hosts, if you selected anyone who had a connection to gaming, were into the games people care about. There's a pretty well known phenomenon in gaming that capital G "Gamers" aren't into the top competitive games that much, they tend to be into single player and cooperative experiences. Instead they picked an eSports dyke who, if you're not into LoL, is a literal "who?" And normies won't bother watching a gaming show, so why bother trying to attract the normies who play those games for a bit on the side?
If you handed me the G4 Brand my first task would be to find a moderately attractive geeky girl who already cared about gaming and teach her how to be an energetic host if needed, get her ready for the camera, for PR reasons the chick is the most important these days, and then find someone established and passionate in the industry (of which there are very few left) to host with her. I'd then school both of them in PR, brand image, fan interaction, interviewing, and the core principles of game design and development in a more technical manner so they can actually survive a discussion outside their personal interests and niches. I'd then start grabbing every genre specialist streamer and YouTuber I could, hand them a code of conduct and say "follow this, cover the games when we call you, and do an interview about it. You'll be paid the following rate for each appearance, future appearances depend on performance." Then I'd approach every PR division in the industry and set up interviews with their developers as part of the marketing engine, for free, while accepting a fee for priority. Once you start to have a few weeks lined up consistently just pretend you're overbooked and charge the fee for priority, regardless of being overbooked or not.
G4 works best as a platform to cover the widest breadth of content possible and as a year round marketing engine. I also wouldn't do the typical edgy gamer branding, it's outdated, and modernization would be needed. After awhile you can stop bringing in people on a per appearance rate, and move them to in house with shows they run regularly. I'd get an eSports news show going, something covering the week's "hidden gems" and something talking about current top played games. That would be after I built up credibility and an audience though as that'd require a studio that couldn't fit in the corner of an office building. Everything would need to be done cheap after all, and with a very easily adjusted budget to stay within our means.
Notice how this is everything Adam is a terrible pick to do? Same with Frosk.
There's a massive problem with this part. You'd need to be willing to pay enough for someone like that to have it be worth their while. Not only would you be having that person doing work for you, but it would also detract from time spent working on their own content/channel. When it comes to getting anyone actually known for this stuff, they're likely already going to be making a decent amount of money in the first place even if they're still a 1 man operation but can pull 200k+ views on youtube a day. I'm not saying someone like that would be rich, but the problem is you'd still need to cover the dent in their own production schedule plus the time put in to work for you, otherwise it likely isn't a very attractive proposal.

I've been catching up on this thread, and I just have to say that I think sesspool is full of shit when he says that he wasn't a gamer. Hell, I would put money on him still playing a fair amount of games tbh. His claims to the contrary seem very forced and spiteful as a way to say "fuck you" to the fans that rejected his bullshit.
