There's probably some truth to all of these. Phil seldom loses interest in things because he's autistic, and will cling to things like his Israel fetish long after they are no longer popular or even beneficial to his social circles. However, I get the feeling he was never really into all of his leftist mumbo jumbo. It was just cosplay to him. He never really bothered to learn about the stuff he was parroting back, so it always had the feeling of inauthenticity to it. He didn't really believe it, but at the same time, he also wanted desperately to be accepted by the kids who did. I've said before he'd have been much happier as an anime nerd in some small town somewhere rather than trying to be yet another SJW slacktivist in Portland. Indeed his entire reason for becoming a Communist was because he thought China in Hetalia was "kawaii." Hell his whole fascination with being "translatinx" only came about because of J. Lo, and in all these years he never bothered to actually learn Spanish, travel to Puerto Rico, eat Latin cuisine, or anything else like that.
It is possible he was growing bored with his identity politics. Its been years and it hasn't gotten him anything. Oh sure he could crash on someone's couch or get some money out of SJW donations, but all he's got are a bunch of crappy tattoos, some Hot Topic grade t-shirts and pleather bondage gear, and diabetes. People his age, people he went to school with, and he'll even some of the faux Antifa crowd he hangs out with own their own apartments, they have cars, they have significant others if not spouses, and they have more disposable income than he ever will. It must be frustrating for him to realize some 20 something anarchist has more money than him and doesn't waste it on mall ninja accessories, pizza and regrettable tattoos. If Phil had managed to keep his job at Wawa maybe he could have had that too.
Also, I've marveled at how Phil has never actually been called out on cultural appropriation, especially given how readily SJWs eat their own. Granted he's nowhere near the top of their social pyramid but still you'd think someone would have wanted to knock him down a few pegs, if for no other reason than the fact that he's so obnoxious. Most likely Toren has been holding the threat that they'll reveal he's not Latino over his head for a while, but its possible, even likely, that others have as well. Indeed maybe thats part of what Binxy and his new "antifa" buddies have been using to keep him in line. Its possible he's just smart enough to know that would he bad news for him. We already know that's one of his big fears.
Phil actually dropping the translatinx anarchist crap after all these years would be unexpected, but also kind of hilarious. I can't imagine him trying to look or act "normal," especially with all his shitty tattoos, including the ones on his face. He may well be better off as a ward of the state! In a way, its kind of a victory for the Farms, albeit in a competition we weren't actually involved in and didn't even know about. Phil has given up, after years of raging against a machine that doesn't even know or care. I suppose we exceeded his hurtful truths level? So... do we write this off as the first of his sagas? Will he live long enough to even have a second saga? Or will he just fade into obscurity?
